- Sleeping| 46 repliesSays they are with BB&T bank (my bank). Says my first name and my husband's first name and then asks for last 4 digits of my social security number. When I held without entering anything, an Operator answered, said she was with BB&T but wouldn't say what the call was about. She asked if I had a loan with BB&T and if I did, I could give her my social security number and she could pull up the account and tell me why they were calling. I confirmed with BB&T Bank that they were not trying to contact me about any of my accounts; that everything was in good standing.
- BBT Employee replies to Sleeping| 39 repliesOk first off to the one that posted the first thread....Are you an idiot? I have to deal with stupid people like this one on a daily basis. I have worked for BB&T for quite some time now and never before in another job have I dealt with brainless twits that call. The 800-222-1913 is a valid BB&T number for the collections department, now we wouldnt be calling you from this number if you werent a dead beat that was paying their loan off, or someone responsible that actually paid their payments on time, but to all you stupid people , I want to thank you on behalf of all the employees in the collection centers for keeping our job stable and one to last a long time. Its because of idiots like you that I get a great check with great benefits ... From your Bank , My employer ... Dont want that number showing up on caller ID or wish to speak to Us .... PAY YOUR [removed] BILLS!
- responsible, yet disabled replies to BBT Employee| 2 repliesIn response to the BB&T employ... I would love to pay my bills on time. I would love to have a job like yours with wonderful benefits and a nice hourly wage. Sadly, I can not due to legitament health issues. Secondly, when I recieve my check from the US government, which by the way I earned by working 22 years, I gladly pay my bill. I have no controll as to when they send my the check, Just as BB&T has told me that it would take an act of God to change my due date. So, when you make terrible comments about your clients, remember, one day you will be held accountalbe, just as I am.
- BB&T Customer replies to BBT EmployeeHA! I got the same phone call. Only the person on the line spoke so fast that I had to listen to it several times in order to get the number. Here's the deal....I am a BB&T customer. I don't have any debt with BB&T that is past due. I have a personal banker at BB&T. So, if there is a problem, she would call me.
And I would have to say that if I am in a conversation with anyone that works in collections for a living....guess who would most likely be the "stupid idiot".
In today's world of scams, I am not giving my last 4 digits of my social security number to anyone who just happens to call. If you think I am, well...then you're the "stupid idiot".
If BB&T collections has an issue with me...contact my personal banker. If you don't know who that is, then some "stupid idiot" needs to make sure it's in your computer system.
Enjoy your benefits and paycheck from your collections job! - Soon to be EX customer of BB&TI agree 100% with other customers above and the comment from the "employee" are about the same as we recieve from customer relations. We have got the call and go immediately to our local bank to be told that our accounts are current (by the computer) only to be called the next day again requesting the same info (last 4 of SSN) We go back to the bank and are told we don't have a payment due until a certain date. We tell the "collector" what we found out at our local bank and they tell us thay are wrong, that we are past due. So we are making arrangements to pay them off and take our meager business some where else!!
- ReneeTo the "employee". You sound bitter for sure, but the reason I even googled BB&T's collection # is because they owe ME money! So don't act like companies never mess up. BB&T is saying that I owe them for something that I have already paid, and I have the proof. They are not calling me, but I did get an incorrect letter. This is from several years ago, and I have a "good", steady job, pay my bills on time, and work for a law firm. So if they don't get their act together they may be getting sued. I mean get real, just because you work for a company doesn't mean they never make a mistake. I remember when I needed my tax info. from BB&T and I had to go to THREE branches before I got help, because even the bank mangaers were confused...and NO it wasn't complicated at all. I had an IRA, and needed my information (which I had never recieved prior), and they made it seem like brain surgery. And let's not forget the time they couldn't get my change of address straight (and I did it TWICE)...send my bank card to an address in GA. BUT with all that said they are better than most banks...but NOT faultless, and after this last thing...with me "owing them"...I may have to switch.
- Wachovia supporter| 1 replyFirst off, "employee" what are you even doing here? Why are YOU googeling the number?? Secondly, if smaller companies are searching online to eliminate employees that blog about company related issues, then I'm sure (if you truly are an employee) you won't be much longer. Thirdly, no.... no one should ever give personal numbers such a SSN's over the phone. My bank has NEVER called me, but even if I call they ask things like phone numbers, secret questions, etc. My boss, who keeps getting these bogus calls from the 800 number has personal bankers that call him whenever needed. I know this because I answer the phones. All of his accounts are current and typically paid EARLY. So we all know this is just a BS scam. Otherwise, they can contact him in writing or on his personal number which I'm sure as a MAJOR bank, they would have. Best of luck to you all, and as for you "employee"? Well... you're just a stupid "[***]" idot.
P.S. - For the caller ID... our phone always lists the caller even when the bank calls. So it would say BB&T ... not Toll-Free- Caller: Claiming to be BB&T
- birthdayboy replies to SleepingI got the same phone call at my work. Says I owe for my bill AND my wife's bill. My $112.50 just became a $700 bill. I was planning to pay my part, but I refuse to be responsible for her bills - especially since we're having trouble.
- Jeff replies to Wachovia supporterI got a call today from this same number. The only reason I googled it was that the person leaving the voicemail spoke so quickly that I wasn't sure, after listening to the message 5 times that I got the correct number. However, it was a legitimate call. Somehow I overlooked my car payment that was due two weeks ago. Fortunately I had already scheduled the payment online and it was taken care of. I had also received a notice from the bank that the payment was late and the Customer Service person was able to verify information such as what the late penalty was, what the current payoff amount was, and when the maturity date was. The Customer Service person was very courteous and did need my SS# to pull up the account since I didn't have my acct # handy. This number is obviously a legitimate number, however, BB&T Employee, sometimes legitimate mistakes happen and people with excellent credit, like me, do miss a payment. Your stereotypes, will get you in trouble one day if it hasn't already.
- moosehead| 1 replyCalled to tell me my payments was late and would I like to make a payment with my credit card.It was a sunday and the banks are closed on sunday
- Caller: BBandT
- WHAT_ARE_YOU_THINKING replies to BBT EmployeeWe should never treat customer like this even if they owe a debt. Collection is a job you should not insult customers because they are on your call down list. It looks like you live in a glass house.
- MollyThis is a legitimate number for BB&T collections. However, be careful, because there are scam artists out there that google these numbers and then place fake collections calls just to get your personal information. It is very unfair to the bank, because they do make legitimate calls from this number. The best thing to do if you receive one of these calls is to contact your nearest BB&T branch manager to make sure there are no discrepancies on any of your accounts. Don't give your personal information over the phone unless the attendant is willing to give you their employee identification number.

- ReginaI am a former BB&T employee as well. I am also a customer of theres with a bank account and a car loan. Yes my loan is past due and yes they call me every 3 days to remind me. Every time they call they ask why I am behind and I tell them the same thing yet they continue to ask, even after I asked them to stop asking! I went out on unpaid maternity leave and the same day my 11 year old dog got sick with phneumonia. So I spent the money I had saved to make my car payments trying to save my dogs life and I would do it again! So they know I have been out of work unpaid, am a single mothr to a newborn who just lost a dog that meant the world to her. I was one day late on making the payment so they send a tow truck out to take my car! At 11pm when its too late to make a payment to the bank! Good thing they sent the truck to my sisters house and dont know where I live so my car is safe.. I was looking for the number online so I could make my payment today.
- Chas| 1 replyGot a call from 8002221913. Said they were with BB&T but would not say what they were calling about other than a "business matter". I called them back and they wanted my social security number and account number. I refused to give them this information. They representative said that without that information, he couldn't help me. I called my local branch and all of my accounts are in great standing. DONT GIVE THESE PEOPLE ANY INFORMATION !! Call your local branch if you do get a call like this !!!
- Smith replies to SleepingI had a call like that as well. But worse. Get a lawyer ! Say nothing more. And for you whom works for BB&T watch your langauge now I'm reporting you. would BB&T like to read your messages.
- Smith replies to BBT Employee| 1 replyI'm forwarding this reply to BB&T lets see how they enjoy people like you working for them.
- Shameful employee replies to BBT Employee| 1 replyI currently work for BB&T collections center. I want to appologize for the comment from this employee, who in my opinion should be removed from his/her position immediately. I was recently laid off from my career and I am very happy to even have a job with the economy the way it is. I personally understand what our clients are going through and can empathise with them. You sure showed you true colors in that comment. You should be ashamed of yourself. Again I appologize for "the Idiots" like that one. Not all of us are like that i assure you.

I promise you that one day oyu'll be knocked off your hgh horse and dear god I hope we are there to see you put in your place .
you are rude , unintelligent and should be fired! - 800-222-1913| 2 repliesMy REAL bank, BBandT has informed me that someone tried to use my credit card yesterday, 3/3l/2010, so I thought this might be a legitimate call. NO.....it was not BBandT.
Woman spoke so fast I had to listen several times to get the numer, then I googled it, and guess what?, LO, and behold, LOL, it's not legit.
I'm on the do not call list and I am reporting this for the second time to FCC for a violation.- Caller: unknown
- LizzieI got a call from this number yesterday with unavailable in the caller ID field. The woman claimied to be "Valerie" and did not give me any information about why she was calling, but left this number for me to call back. This is not the first time I've gotten this call. I have no loans with BB&T and have no idea why they would be calling me. If BB&T wants to see me about something, then they can call me on the local branch number and I can identify them with the caller ID feature on my telephone. I do believe that these people are scammers and will NOT give them any of my information.
