I received a call from this number a few minutes ago... had received a call yesterday coming in as "call 1" I and upon me answering they hung up. Got a "call 1" call today and hit reject. I saw this number on my phone, thankfully I missed it. I was calling back and decided to check the number on the net...

So I get this call at 4:40PM Central today... as usual, no one on the other line as my answering machine picks it up --- next time they call I will pretend to be a retired, semi-lucid person and will give them all sorts of bogus information, and offer to send them a donation if they give me a mailing address.

i posted my incidents at another site, but this one seems more active. i'll paste it here: i got a call from this number while i was at lunch. i googled it and found this page. i missed the call and was curious that they didnt leave a message so i tried to call back a few times and got the same thing. it hangs itself up.

interestingly enough though, i believe i got some calls from apollo mortgage...probably one per month for the last few months. sporadically though. perhaps not every single month. but at least 4. i told them to remove me from the call list. can't remember if there was an accent or not. i thought it was from a year ago when my wife signed us up for one of those lending tree things where it tries to find you the best mortgage rates - because that's when i first started getting calls from apollo mortgage.

so my theory is that one of lending trees constituents sells their information, or apollo mortgage actually happens to exist and these guys are just pretending to be apollo mortgage.

interesting that the same number would come up for different scams though...mortgage...social security...IRS (another site mentions this). and websites. strange indeed.

i also just thought of a good idea. what if we all start answering the phone when its this number and just start SCREAMING like mad? that'd be awesome. eventually i would think it would get to them and they'd give up. there's a lot more of us than there are of them. if only we could make this even more public.

got a call from 800-224-8606 and one from 800-223-9113.  both times the people were abusive after not receiving info.  it must be simple to figure out who owns these #s, right?  can't someone spike their line or something?

Caller claimed to be and Internet Domain checking agency and proceeded to inquire personal information to update the domain registry.  Figured is was a scam and resplied all information currently in theregister is correct.  The woman with a very heavy accent got a bit terse and finally hung up.  Calling the number back 800-244-8606 produced a hang up even though I called back 50 times

800-223-9113 and 800-224-8606 both called me today.  I thought it may have been something important, but also was perplexed that they didn't leave a message.  Searched for the number in Google and found this forum.  I'm wondering now where they got my information.  Really sucks, I hope they don't try to make a habit out of it.  Anybody know of any way to report this?

These guys are shady dealers and scammers and if you get a call from them file a 1088 Complaint with the FCC at https://esupport.fcc.gov/form1088/consumer.do and if you are on the National Do Not Call List, file a Complaint at https://www.donotcall.gov/default.aspx.

If the government gets enough complaints from you, we can put these guys out of business.

This is the first time that I received a call from this #. He said that he was calling from Domain Registry Support, (which, BTW, has a very poor presence for even a scam web-based company domainregistrysupport(dot)com) claiming to wanted my fax # to send me important information regarding my domain registration. I personally don't know what they can do with a fax # but it is worth looking into.

Based on tracking it looks like it's coming from an area called Pinellas Park Florida for anyone out there investigating. No caller ID information.

05/05/08 10:50AM PST - Call from woman with Indian accent saying she needs to update our website domain information.  I said we normally get emails for that.  She said that thier email server is down for an anti-virus upgrade and asked for my fax number.  I said we will just wait for thier server to come back online and get an email.  I then hung up on her.

Same experience as above. Hung up on him. Called me twice this morning. I asked where he was calling from and he said New York, New York City and so I asked from what company and he said American Healthcare and so I told him to take my number off any list he had and hung up.

Caller ID said 1-800-224-8606 Same Web Domain Name scam mentioned above. Said he was with Domain Registry Support. He said there was important and valuable information he had to relay to me and asked for my fax number. I told him I didn't have a fax, and that he could send me an e-mail, he said he had to have a fax number, but I could call his customer support number at 1-800-591-7398, which of course was a voice mail. I tried to report it to Verizon, no help, will call police next, but not expecting much to be done after reading all the above. Very frustrating talking with these people.

How do these people get our phone numbers? just got a call, didn't answer, no message was left. after reading these posts am glad i didn't pick up!

This came to my cell phone, which I thought I had registered as "do not call."  They wanted my fax line to send me a one-page update regarding changed to my domain.  The Eastern Indian sounding gentleman said he was from www.domainregistrysupport.com  When i asked his name he said Eric (yeah, right).

I knew it was a scam.  But I told him I didn't have a fax and he would have to email me, which he said they couldn't.  I said "too bad then" and hung up!

Received 2 calls today (05/20/2008) 12:41 EDT & 14:42 EDT from 800-224-8606 and 1 call 10:14 EDT from 800-223-9113. No messages left. Did not attempt call-back. Checked 800notes.com first. Appears to be a confirmed scammer.

I have an idea I did it to the "Grant calls" and never heard from them again.
I do get calls from others like this one too but this is what I am starting to do.

The next time they call DO ALL the ASKING , ( It is ok to be angry ) .
Take their time up make them spell it out.
In a call center they get into trouble for long "TALK TIME" and no sale.

Their name or operater #
The supervisors name  
The name of what it is they are selling
Their company name
The name of the company they are do in the telemarketing for.
  Then look them up on the internet and complain to them for hiring such A55's
  Many companies that hire them have websites.

The mailing address
Their email address
An alternate Phone to call them back ( Besides the one on the caller ID )

Just don't let them talk much, answer any questions.

Don't confirm any information for them!

Tell them you want the information for the FCC and FTC.

Asked them if they have ever looked up their phone # on the internet and that they should do that and will see just how many people are pissed at them..,,,,,, and before they can say any thing else END it with thank you for your time and information and hang up on them.

Take the information and go to the FCC website there is a place to report the information to the FCC.

I did this to one they haven't called since.

WE ALL NEED TO FIGHT BACK!
If this word gets out and allot of people do this to them it will cost them more money for calling.

Yeah.  I got one of these today and yesterday.  Same guy.  young.  Indian accent. from 800-224-8606   I told him yesterday I didn't do business with any unsolicited calls.  He said I could speak to customer support at 1800 591 7398.  I called it and it was an answering machine.  

Yesterday they claimed to be the main registry and today they claimed  to be  Domain Support.  I'm logging the calls and will tell them the next time I'm on the federal do not call list..

Caller said he was from Domain Registry Support.  Different number this time!  I hung up immediately.

800-224-8606 called at 7:38 p.m. May 28, 2008 and said his name was Joseph. Heavy Indian accent.  Said he was with Colonial out of San Diego.  Wanted to tell me my loan was too high.  I said I'd call him back (trying to get a phone number from him) and he said he'd give me that in a moment.  Wanted a lot of information about my credit history.  Gave him nothing.  Finally, I got a phone number from him.  Then I told him he couldn't help me and hung up. The number he gave me to call him back was 888-766-9456.  I'm pretty sure it's a scam.  I have been bothered by some Indian caller from NCO Financial Services trying to collect on some debt he said I owed which I do not.  So, this might be connected.

get calls from 800-224-8606 and 800-223-9113 sometimes 3-4 times a day.
guy with very heavy indian accent. always wants info about my mortgage. when i question him, he hangs up.  when you call back, never rings, phone just goes dead. its very annoying.
