Got another call from 972-378-6856 again this evening, with a message
to call 800-227-3863, ext 3978 and ask for George.  I returned this call
as a courtesty since the message was for my ex-husband, to let the company
know that he know longer lives here.  
George informed me, that since this is the number that my ex gave as a
contact number, this is the number they call to try to get in touch with
him.  It fell on deaf ears that I told him that I have divorced the man
and he no longer lives at this address, with this number.  Does not seem
to faze them, they will never make any contact with him at my number. Duh??
George is not the only person from this company (Capitol One Auto Finance)
that I have told this information.  They insist that I give them a phone
or other info for my ex, his family numbers, or friends.  I do not give out
that info to anyone, and can't for him, since I do not know where he is.
I can understand their position that he owes them money, and I am sorry
for them, but I cannot help them.  I do not owe them, and I ask them to
stop calling my number and leaving messages for him, when they have been
asked to stop.  That also fell on deaf ears.  
I intend to contact my attorney about this, and see about filing harrassment
charges against them.

I also got phone calls from this number from Capitol One, telling me to dial ext. 3178 ... the caller asked me for my last 4 digits of SS# ... I also DO NOT give that information by phone. When I asked for something mailed to me, he said "it was in the mail" ... hmm, not sure I trust this whole situation.

Same trash called a friends cell.  Same story said got the number from a jose something and i was a reference.  Wanted to know where I was and when I would be home.  Don't talk to these folks

Looking for a friend of mine at my phone number, wanted a reference for someone trying to purchase an auto.  Took the number  800-227-3863, opt 7, ext 4754512, actual number 469 241 7000. Did not call back.  Girl said her name was Emily and she needed a reference for Andre Jose.

I too, received a call from the above number from George. However, to be fair he seems to actually be trying to help me with keeping my car. Yes, I am late on the payments (I'm one of the 47%...). I sort of have no choice than to believe him. He has so far given me info on what I owe, how to locate a lower loan from a charge off and a lot of things I had no prior knowledge of. (Never been here before!) He is actually placing repo on hold for a few days so I can secure another loan with another company...Maybe it is all in the caller's presentation? Pushy and mean gets them nowhere!! Nice and courteous, I consider listening to.

This phone number is legitimately Capital One.  I received a call from this number saying it was capital one and that they were following up on something I had called about the week before.  They asked for the last 4 of my social and my date of birth.  I found this suspicious and worried it might be a scam, so I said no and that I would call capital one to confirm it was them.  I contacted capital one through the number on their website and they told me it was legitimate.  So, no need to worry.

This is Capital One. I refinanced my auto loan and this is the direct line to my loan officer. Is legit. They also call for references... If you don't know why their calling someone could have put you down as a reference and they are trying to validate. Hope this helps.
