This is a Scam .SILVERleaf RESORTS,INC. I heard about this scam on Clark Howard. He warned me of this company.I received a card in the mail about Timesharing From AWARDS VERIFICATION CENTER. got it in the mail also. scam is a nice word, this is outright fraud. should be reported to teh state AG's office for flase and deceptive advertising but I do not have the time.

i'm not sure if it's a scam.. but i did NOT fall for it.  i got a postcard in the mail saying they have been trying to readch me. when i called, they say i actually WON a prize.  They said i won ONE of FOUR prizes, but they can't tell me which one I won, until I actually go there. They say in order to get my prize, I have to go on a tour of the timeshare resort. Then  I get my prize.  hmmm...sounds fishy to me!!!! Good thing I can't make it next week.  That seems to be the only time they will allow me to get my prize.  Shame shame on them!

Nice website to discuss scams.  just got this in the mail.  Not even bothering calling, but will report.  Can someone be so kind as to leave the appropriate phone number to report these guys?  I have no problem doing that.

I receive a blue post card saying that I won a prize "in accordance with my confirmation letter" letter that I have never sent.
MArketing companies have my name with a mistype, so I know right ahead before reading the document that it cames from a unsolicited source.

Got this postcard today: "We have been trying to reach you regarding you major prizewinner status! You have WON one of the four guaranteed prizes: a new MERCEDES BENZ M-Class, BMW X5, PORSCHE Cayenne or $40,000 CASH, a $1,500 Shopping Spree, Exotic Island Adventure, $806 value or $500 Cash. You have three days to call us toll free at the number above to arrange to pick up your prize. You are guaranteed to receive your prize immediately, in accordance with your confirmation letter. This your FINAL NOTICE!"

I just got an awards notice that looks like you are receiving a check for $1,295.00.  Then the text at the bottom of the check stub says exactly, verbatim what dennis' text says.  Except mine does not say it's your Final notice & then it goes on to list other guaranteed gift you will also receive.

Got the exact same letter/check as "M":

Looks like you are receiving a check for $1,295.00.  It's from the "Awards Verification Center - Records Division"  2400 Pioneer Pkwy #210 Arlington, TX  76013.  Check is "signed" by "Susan Murray"  

Text in letter:  Recently, you were entered into our INSTANT GOLD GIVEAWAY.  CONGRATULATIONS!  You HAVE WON the NEW MERCEDES BENZ M-Class, BMW X5 or PORCHE Cayenne - value $49,000 or $40,000 CASH, a $1,500 Shopping Spree,..."

i got mine today, for the first time and said the same thing. i called, they said i had to come in for this meeting type thing and they need to know my income!?!? whats all the xtra $h!t???

Indeed, I got the same letter today and hard to believe, I looked up AVC online and read all these notes.  How ugly can the world get to be?  Whoever is running AVC Travel in Arlington should be taken out of business.  What a shame!!!!!!!

I! will be the proud owner of a Benz M-Class, BMX X5 or Porsche Cayenne all valued at $49k or in the alternative, shopping sprees at Saks, Macys, Nordstrom or Walmart etc... hmmmm the choices make me foam at the mouth. I'm always leary of this junk mail, don't you mind, they will never ever see my face, I'll pass. If only arresting someone for this were as easy as this scam. BEWARE!!!!!!!!

I GOT THE SAME NOTICE FROM AVC. I TOO AM A PRIZE WINNER OF MERCEDES, BMW, PORSCHE OR $40,000 IN CASH. HELL THEY SHOULD PROVIDE ME WITH ALL FOUR GIFTS FOR SPREADING THIS GRANDEOUS LIE. I HAVE NOTHING AGAINST TIMESHARE PRESENTATIONS. I DO DISAGREE WITH MISREPRESENTATIONS.

800-239-8863  Claims I won a prize....in a contest....that I never heard of.....and never entered.  Can you say S C A M alert!!!

Looks like these telemarketing crooks are at it again (based on the notes here dated 2007).  I've received 2 of their blue 'scam' postcards within the past month.  Like most of these types of scams, they always list 2 or 3 SUPER prizes, and one that sounds fishy, which you can bet is the one you'd "win" if you fell for their scam (oh, did I happen to mention this is a SCAM?).

In this case, the 'fishy' prize is a "5-day/4-night Exotic Island Adventure, $806 value."  You could barely buy a plane ticket for that amount of money, so you know at best that this is probably some 3rd world fishing village mud hut located about 20 yds off the coast of Mexico...so they can justify calling it an 'island'!

Susan Murray (if that's even a real person), and this SCAM, will be reported to the state's Attorney General office post haste.

I didn't get the call, I got the letter and I think they might have more than one 800 number and a different address because it tells me to call 1-888-435-9129 and the address is 6321 Blvd. 26, Suite 450 North Richland Hills, TX 76180. I just turned 18 so I KNOW this is B.S. Talk about a scam even I know you cannot go through that and NOT owe money.

I just received a letter from AVC Travel claiming I had won 1 of 4 prizes. I haven't entered any contest so I figured it was a scam.  Upon checking the internet I determined it most certainly was a scam.
