- Drew| 4 repliesI recently worked at this horrible place. National Enterprise Systems is the collection agency from hell. It's the devil's worst nightmare. Employees are trained to collect according to the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act but once on the floor in their respective departments collectors are told to forget everything they learned.
My supervisor, Bryan Howard under the alias of Paul Stevens, regularly provided a second voice to collectors having trouble closing collections. This idiot would identify himself to callers as a federal agent, an NES attorney, etc., anything to try to scare the debtor into paying. He would actually tell debtors and their spouses that a lawsuit had been filed and if the account is not paid by postdated check by a certain time that day a deputy of the court was coming to serve the debtor on his job. I witness this on a daily basis all day long. B. Howard is neither a federal agent, attorney nor any of the other things he claims to be and NES don't sue debtors. All are clear violations of the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act.
Debtors are talked to as if they're inhuman. Even when the debtor is not home the person taking the message is treated like dirt. I will never forgot my supervisor shouting at an 81 year old African-American woman for not getting a pen and paper to take the message. "I DON'T CARE IF YOU ARE 81 YEARS OLD HE SCREAMED AT THE WOMAN." I've witness collectors hollering at kids "GO GET YOUR FATHER."
You are not supposed to talk to spouses—in certain states--about their significant others’ debt unless given permission by the spouse to do so. This rule is ignored at NES. In fact when I left training I put the document about the spouse rule on my cubicle wall to reference only to have it snatched and trashed by Bryan Howard who said I wouldn’t need it.
The owners Ernest Pollack, his wife, and two sons: Scott and pie-faced Chris are well aware of what is going on. These people are hands on owners. They constantly walk the call room floors, note the individual collectors and group collection sales and hear all the violations first hand. The more a collector screams at a debtor the more they like it. People actually clap and cheer when a collector goes off on a debtor. All that concerns these greedy money grabbers is how much money they are collecting at any given time.
Payments are demanded in full although they do offer settlements that are too demanded in full. Money orders and mail-in payments are not accepted, only postdated checks over-the-phone or Western Union Transfers for Citi Bank accounts. Some other creditors do allow NES to also take payment by credit card. For the postdated checks debtors are asked to give their accounting and routing numbers. NES, the scumbags they are, attempts to take the money out before the postdate. Nice company huh!
Collectors and supervisors once provided with bank info by the debtor call banks automated customer service numbers to obtain how much money they have in their accounts. We have their social security numbers so getting info this way is like taking candy from a baby. Some banks have safeguards against this and required you talk to a live person. They also work this wickedness on debtors’ credit card accounts or the credit card accounts of the debtors’ spouse, mother, father, etc. I remember one collector on the phone with a debtor saying “Your Mother Has $7,000 On Her Card She Can Use;” She Can Pay This Debt For You!”

- Brewer| 1 replycalling for my son who does not live at my house; would not disclose reason for call
- Caller: National Enterprise System
- Reagan KassnerThis company was calling my mother's home looking for my 20 year old brother who no longer lives there. The first time it was a woman that called, "Jenny" who told my mother that she was looking for my brother because she wanted to invite him to a wedding. My mother gave her his number, even though if she had been honest with my mother, she still would have given his number to her. I believe it is against the Fair Credit Act to pretend to be someone else anyway. Well a guy called my brother and identified himself as "Jack" ext. 1879, and was basically being bullied about a credit card debt that had gone to collections due to a job loss. He knew he had the debt was more than willing to absolve it but he wouldn't be able to pay it off in one lump sum. Which apparently wasn't a good enough answer for "Jack"...after my brother told him that he had to go, "Jack" then called back my mother and was trying to get her to pay off my brother's debt. (Which is also another violation, collectors are allowed to contact friends, family, and jobs only to find the location/number of the person that owes the debt) When my mother told him that it was her grown sons debt and her grown sons responsibility to pay it off, he told her, "What kind of mother are you that wouldn't want to help her own son." At that point my mom hung up the phone. I found out about that and let me tell you "Jack" won't be calling my mother ever again. Rude, and pathetic people that are harassing innocent people into paying other people debts. Hey "Jack" you want to know what kind of mother my mom is? The kind of mother that has loaned all 3 of her children 10's of 1000's of dollars over the years...and she is the kind of mother that taught her children how to address people with respect no matter what and to not lower ourselves to the level of filth that you have just to make a paycheck.

- whlI received a text message that says its from ME... ? and that I am to call 1-800-261-3453. Thank You for letting me know who this is really from. I've also received numerous phone calls from them. I just though it was strange that I received a text message saying its from me
- Googley MoogleyReceived a number of calls from the NES group. Some of them are nice and courieous phone calls, and some of them are just out there. They will lie cheat and steal in order to collect what you owe them so that they can get their commission.
The one I received yesterday said that it was Heather White from 1-800-261-3453 at ext 1518. She said that I needed to call immediately because of a complaint that was filed against me. Hmm.
The way I go about their phone calls at this point is I just don't answer the phone if they call. They always call from an unknown number. Some times they leave a message and some times they don't. Just remember the point of why you have a phone in the first place. IT'S FOR YOUR CONVENIENCE AND NOT FOR ANYONE ELSES. Let them leave their message because then you aren't taking the 4 - 8 phone calls they leave every single day to beat you down and depress you. You don't need that. What you need to do is to just get a plan and have a goal to pay your debt off and stick with it. You will have to SACRIFICE to get out of debt. You'll have to real back a lot of your spending. Cable, Internet, cell phone, gym membership, Netflix, etc, all excess. You can live without it, but are you willing to live without it for a period of time. Bankruptcy is the very last resort and not usually a good idea.
Once you are ready to pay the debt in full, get in touch with the collection department from the company that you owe the debt too. If you are going to pay a debt off, the last 5 days of the month are the best to pay it in. You can really start to negotiate with them at the end of the month because they are really needing to hit their numbers.- Caller: Wouldn't say but it was NES

- MPH| 2 repliesYes, I got two call so far from "Heather White". Already, she's using a tone that I've found more than disrespectful. It's funny, while she is trying to collect a debt, I'm currently paying on it. These people really should be arrested for these scare tactics. It's ridiculous.

- Jordie replies to DrewPlease tell me how they are allowed to stay open. has no one reported them to the attorney general? i think they are calling looking for my sister but when i asked what they wanted, they screamed, "DONT YOU ASK ME THAT!" I put my girlfriend on the phone and she called her a C&#T. does anyone know who i can contact to sue them? Drew, you and I need to chat...
- Erika replies to BrewerThere have been 3 people who have been calling my parents non-stop. They call my cell phone every once in a while, but I live in Seattle now so when I try to resolve the issue, they aren't there. Their names are Heather White, kathryn Lipe, and Michael Dean. I have one credit card I haven't paid because I am in the process of suing another company for discrimination and harassment, unfortunately making me quit my job. Gotta love the economy in times like this! I thought it was their attorneys who were calling to settle the suit. So, I am assuming this is definitely the credit card collectors? The last thing I want to do it leave a rude message about my overdue credit card to the attorney I'm suing!! I am going to tell them to never call my parents... they are calling worried because the guy said he was a federal attorney...hell - certain things your parents just don't need to know about their adult daughter!!
- Irritated by NES replies to MPH| 1 replyI answered the phone today to hear screaming on the other end. They told me I need to pay my bill now. I said, "I'm really sorry but I was in dental school and have been forced to take a leave of absence to get help for depression and have no money right now. As soon as I get back on my feet I will pay it off." They said "You are lying! get on disability." I couldn't believe it! I said, "why are getting this tone with me?" He said, "You are irritating me!" I was like, "Yeah well you are irritating me too. File a suit on me. I don't even live in Oklahoma anymore... Good luck finding me!!" He then hung up on me and called back like 5 times while I let my machine pick up. I was actually pretty scared they were going to file a suit. Do they go to that extreme after 7 months of an unpaid card? It's only 3,500, and I need to save my money for my future in case I can't go back to school for a while.
- LJ replies to Drew| 1 replyI'm not surprised by the tactics these people stoop to for the almighty buck. What I am surprised by is "Why hasn't someone done something to stop it?" Are they taking payoffs from people really high up in the government? They're clearly breaking the law and getting away with it! I've written scores of stop calling, harrasing, etc. letters to scumbags like this and nothing works. Lawyers won't take on a law suit because they're probably getting kickbacks from these toilet maggots. How can these people sleep at night?
- Tabby replies to LJRead this and you will see WHY OUR government is doing nothing about it:
Regulators, policy makers seldom intervene
The debt business, as Donald Friedman, the chief operating officer of debt-buyer Liberty Point Corp., told hundreds of his assembled peers at their March 2005 gathering, is ''one of the sexiest, one of the most financially lucrative businesses you can get into.''
Boastful? Yes. Overstated? Hardly.
That year, businesses that specialize in debt for collection would purchase $66 billion in delinquent bank credit card accounts alone, paying just pennies on the dollar for the right to press consumers to pay up. That $66 billion represented a golden opportunity for them, and sudden vulnerability for an estimated 8 million card holders - all of them earmarked for repeated phone calls, dunning letters, lawsuits, wage garnishment, property seizure, and sometimes even arrest.
They generally owe the money, but seldom anticipate the consequences. A Spotlight Team investigation, which concludes today, found a system where debt collectors have a lopsided advantage; where debtors frequently face high-handed treatment; and where excessive fees can swiftly turn a small delinquency into a life-upending financial crisis.
Yet, in spite of all this, there is an eerie silence among regulators, policy makers, and legislators. Those who could intervene to right the balance between collectors and consumers are either unaware of the debt collection free-for-all, and the tens of millions of consumers caught up in it. Or they are simply unwilling to act.
