- Travis| 11 repliesIt's Federal Credit Union.
- Caller: Federal Credit Union
- BobBobBob| 6 repliesThese are the good guys. Texans Credit Union calls from this number to verify that recent transactions on your credit card are not fraudulent. You can call back and leave a message.
- Caller: Texans Credit Union
- Call type: Unwanted
- Billy| 1 replyI agree with BobBobBob... They are a fraud detection service that multiple Credit Unions and Banks. If they call you, answer or call them back... there's something fishy going on with your card.

- LRM replies to BobBobBob| 4 repliesThis is NOT Texans Credit Union. They have a 866 number for the fraud prevention hot-line. This number is some scam outfit trying to get more information because they already have your name and address and they are trying to get your bank card number so they can make charges against it. I have talked to Texans Credit Union about calls I have received from this number and they have said this is NOT someone calling on their behalf. Furthermore, Texans Credit Union's Fraud Detection Dept. does not use an automated system during business hours, so if you do get a call from them during the day, it will be an actual person. The only time they use an automated system is if they detect activity on your account after hours that they suspect is fraud.
- kcnh| 1 replyI received a letter in the mail asking to call the above #. The letter had no logo or business name on it. Just said my credit card had activity on it that they need to verify. I live in the northeast and wonder why a southern company is interested?
- Lynn replies to kcnhHi, I live in the northeast too and received a letter just like yours saying they would like to verify activity on my account.... THe letter looks a bit juvenile (logo is ridiculous), so I will clear up everything by calling my bank directly instead of the listed 1-800 number. I looked around on the internet and apparently this 1-800 number is connected to phishing scams with numerous credit unions. For example, http://www.moneyfcu.org/notice.htm.
Hope this helps and I hope that who ever is doing this gets CAUGHT!! They stressed me out tonight trying to figure out how these people got my info. I am going to get a new debit card # - db| 5 repliesThis is very Pfishy. I got a call saying they were from Umpqua Bank (an Oregon Bank) wanting to verify charges on a card. When I returned the call it was a phone system simply "Thank you for calling customer service" and on hold. When you search for this number you should find it with a legit listing but it seems to be on a lot of "credit union" websites that don't look legit.
Call your own card company. The number is on your card and I bet it's not 800-262-2024- Caller: Claimed to be on behalf of Umpqua Bank
- Sandra| 1 replyNo, they are the good guys. We had our card used and when I contacted the bank to delete the card, they gave us this Fraud Department at this number. They are trying to verify charges. They are NOT a scam. They are the good guys.
- LILITHESE PEOPLE ARE GOOD... THEY DONT ASK FOR YOUR DEBIT NUMBER, THEY DONT ASK FOR YOUR EXP DATE, AND THEY DONT ASK FOR YOUR PIN NUMBER! YES THEY ASK FOR VERIFICATION OF EITHER ADDRESS OR THE LAST FOUR OF SOCIAL TO MAKE SURE THEY'RE TALKING TO THE CARDHOLDER BUT IF YOU'RE WORRIED THEY WANT TO VERIFY THEY'RE TALKIN TO THE RIGHT PERSON YOU'RE WRONG BECAUSE ANYONE CAN LOOK UP YOUR INFO IN THE YELLOW PAGES.

- employee| 8 repliesTHIS IS NOT A SCAM You guys that are saying this is a scam...you need to get a life and stop watching so much tv. This is not a credit union or a bank, its a third party card processing center that specializes in lost and stolen debit cards and fraud prevention, if you're so worried its a scam, call the lost stolen number on the back of your card and ask for the fraud prevention phone number, you'll see its the same thats on the letter or on the voicemail or call you received. YES they are going to ask for some verification if you call, because if you're not the card holder calling in, and you're in fact the person who stole the card, if you say its not fraud they stop investigating, which is exactally what someone who stole your card would want, so they HAVE to make sure its you before they verify transactions. The only thing they'll ever ask for is your full name as it appears on the card, and your address or last 4 of the SSN, whichever your bank has provided them with BECAUSE BANKS USE 3Rd PARTIES FOR EVERYTHING!!!! and if you're STILL not sure its not a scam, after you've verified you are who you really say you are, ask them for the last 4 digits of the card they're asking about, you'll find out very quickly that they already have your card number, so why would they call you trying to get your card info if they already have it?? they wouldn't. They're legitimatly trying to verify card transactions that their fraud detection software suspects to be fraud. And if you dont call, guess what, they have the ability to block your card and you get the fun experience of having everyone stare at you when you cant pay for your groceries, so call them back if they call you. This is a company called Fiserv, which does SEVERAL different financial services for banks and credit unions, who are PCI compliant. If you're not sure what that is, its rules set out to protect the security of card information, PCI= payment card industry. Why would someone trying to steal your card information to make purchases try to be compliant with the card industrys rules? They wouldn't.... because this is NOT A SCAM. If you call, they're going to tell you they're from the bank because most banks contract you NOT to tell cardholder's that their bank uses a 3rd party, because it worries their cardholders, but unless you're with first bank, if you ask if this is Fiserv, they're going to tell you yes, if you ask "who are you" instead, they're going to tell you that they're your bank or credit unions card processing center, or fraud prevention department. NOT A SCAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

- SHUT IT! replies to employee| 1 replyFatployee, peddle your lies and half-truths to another audience.
- ?| 2 repliesOk anybody has their own opinions and no one can talk you out of it. So stop arguing, call your bank/credit union and ask them for the fraud department or CNS eNFACT phone number. Then you'll see it's this phone number.
- greenhaven replies to ?| 1 replyOkay...I rec'd the same letter (2nd one since January, actually). I went to my credit union website, logged in and sent an email asking about the 800-262-2024 number and described the letter. The person replying told me that it is okay to call them, as they're the card processing center they use for security. After stumbling onto this website and reading these posts, it seems like the majority of you say this place is okay. Guess I'll go for it and call. Obviously, I won't divulge full acct number, PIN or SSN...just the last 4. I'll share my experience after I call.
- Mongo| 3 repliesI got a letter from "Card Processing Center Fraud Division" warning me to call the 800-262-2024 or my card could be turned off for fraudulent use. I called and they only asked me my name and address, which was on the letter anyway. They proceeded to name two recent transactions on my card and ask me if I had made those charges. When I verified it, that was it, they said the case would be dropped. Later I looked at the letter again, and I noticed they had misspelled the name of my credit union. I immediately called my local branch and asked about the letter. When they could not verify it's validity, I cancelled the card. After reading this chain of responses I figure I probably over reacted, but the letter was incredibly plain and looked amateurish, so I took no chances.

- nunyabidness replies to greenhavenperfect. they shouldn't ask you for your account number or ful SSN. they will ask you to confirm the address associated with your cards, and the last 4 of your account #'s or SSN. they will then tell you where your card has been, you then tell them if that was you or not. it's not a scam, it's company that your bank is paying to monitor your cards for your protection.
- bank employee| 1 reply800-262-2024 is a valid number from a Fiserv company. They really are contacting you about fraud. It is not a scam.
As someone involved with bank security, you should NEVER give out your full card number or social security number over the phone. Any bank (or 3rd party company servicing bank customers) will have your information. All they need from you is enough information to verify you're the person they want to talk to before giving you information.- Caller: Fiserv

- mike| 1 replyThis was the number given to me by my bank directly to check on fraudulent charges on my debit card.
- Brian replies to mikeTotally legit, they are doing extra due diligence because of extra theft activity lately. They asked for my last 4 digits then ran through like 10 of my last purchases I made to verify I had spent the money.
- Just a person replies to Travis| 2 repliesI, too, read this thread after receiving a call. I’m suspicious of everyone and everything. I received a call from my "credit union's fraud division" on my answering machine with this number to call back. I called them back and they only asked for the last 4 of my social and middle initial, read off to me the charges in question and then told me to call my credit union. They were going to cancel the debit card on their end. There were bona fide fraud charges when I called my credit union the next day. They are not phishers or scammers, they are THE GOOD GUYS. I am very grateful to have an anti-fraud stystem working for us when we don’t even know it.
GOOD GUYS :) - CrazypeopleAfter reading this site, I just have to say this: You people are CRAZY! If someone contacts you about your debit card activity, why are you browsing the internet for information? My god, when this happened to me I called my bank and there were able to confirm everything. I certainly would not leave the security of my bank account to some half-baked information I found on the internet.
