They charged my bank $4.95. I CALLED. The voice message gave vague info about office hours....and NO COMPANY NAME.  These people are debiting my bank account and will not themselves account for why they are doing it...nor will they provide a way out.

I believe this is for HAP (Hospital Accident Insurance).

Mine was offered through an affiliate of Wells Fargo.

You can cancel it by entering the code included on your bank statement after the 800 number (Starts with a 6 or 7) on the automated system.

I received a charge from these people on my bank account for the last two months, in the amount of $18.15 per month.  I was marked as such:

    AUTOMATED DEBIT HAP 8002654396

I have not applied for such an offer and I have contested it.

Mine was offered through Wachovia an affiliae of Wells Fargo.

I just saw this charge on my bank statement. and I immediately Googled it, because I had no idea what it was about.
The search brought me to this page. I read one persons comment where they say there is a code to cancel, on your bank charge. I called the number on my bank statement, and entered the code. I then got transferred to a real person, and I explained to her that I did not sign up for this, and she told me that they got a signed app with my signature back in September. She said I was provided a free 60 day covered period, and the charge started on Nov 1..
I dont' know how they got a signed statement form from me, because I did not sign anything like this,. In any event. I  make plain that this was canceled and she assured it me it was, and I would receive a cancellation statement snail mail in 5-7 business days.

No. I will not be getting the money they took from my account back, because I did not cancel this thing  before the trial period was up. How the hell was I supposed to cancel something I never knew I had is beyond me.

It is a wells Fargo insurance scam! got billed right out of my checking account. AD&D 800-265-4396 on the bank statement. I got info in the mail from Wells Fargo on free insurance that I could increase if I want to for a fee. then they just billed me anyway. Wells Fargo gave them my account number and route number so they could just pull the money from my account every month!

This is an accidenal death and dimemberment insurance offered through Wells Fargo. They seem to just sign you up for it and hope you either don't notice or don't do anything about it. The first ten numbers on your bank statement after the AD&D is the companies 800 phone number. The next nine numbers are your policy number. When I saw this I called the number and and when prompted by the automated system entered the account number. I then chose the cancel option offered by the system and was connected to a person. I explained that I never signed up for it and she gave me a weak excuse about a letter from my bank and my having checked a box. I told her that that was impossible because I always shred anything from my bank and never sent anything back. She then tried to explain the policy at which time I interupted her and told her that I didn't want the insurance and didn't sign up for it. I want my $148.50 back. She told me that the policy would be cancelled and the mony would be refunded in 7-10  days. I'll update if that happens. I will also contact the bank and complain. I will also look into the law and see if there is some legal action that may be taken against Wells Fargo for this predatory buisness practice. I'll update how that goes as well. The worst thing you can do is take this lying down. Demand your money back as soon as you see this charge.

Ok. so I called Weels Fargo and they said that this is not how they do thier insurance. They put a stop payment on this and refunded the money. The company also refunded the money so I had to be careful that I kept the money Wells Fargo payed in my acount because when they realized that the company payed the money back they took thier payment back. They told me before hand that that would happen though so I was prepared. The stop payment also kept them from taking any future payments from my acount. The man that I talked to from Wells Fargo was under the impression that this company (whatever it is) got my account number when I payed for something on line. The good news is I got my money back; the bad news is that I now have to watch my acount closely to ensure nothing else funny happens. Also in order to start the investigation you have to agree to testify in court against the company if they are brought up on charges. so far I haven't heard anything about that, but I'll let you all know.

Even my bank account was debited twice $24.75 for AD & D insurance. Upon calling the 800 number provided on the bank statement, they told me that I have signed up for the AD&D insurance for quarterly payment. I have argued that I never signed up like any thing. They said we are affiliated insurance company from Wellsfargo, and it is Affinium insurance company... I asked them to return my money.. They said it will be refunded with in 5 to 7 business days... Will post you once, I received the amount.

I received a charge on my Wells Fargo Visa card in the amount of $16.50. I never requested "ADD Insurance" from anyone. Called the 800-265-4396 number and never spoke to a person. I just contacted the Wells Fargo dispute resolution office at 800-390-0533 to report it and have them handle it. Im hoping for a credit for the amount charged.
Isnt there a law preventing companies from assuming you want something and then charging you for it without your consent?

I also got charged $18.15, but Wells Fargo didn't know who is the company. They gave me the phone nr. 800-265-4396. Wells Fargo told me that it must be a subscription, which I have no idea for what. So I gave them the order to cancel my "authorization". Is this a new trick from Wells Fargo to get some cash?

I enrolled when I was dropped off my parent's insurance but missed the college enrollment. It took almost 6 months before I started getting charged for it. I hope it doesn't take 6 months to discontinue.

    Great info!

I called the 800 number, used the code you specified, and was able to stop this recurring, "mystery deduction".

    Thanks!

These crooks are an affiliate of Wells Fargo. I signed up for an insurance through Wells Fargo may years ago. My account was being charged $1.65 a month for longer than I can remember. I called Wells Fargo a couple of years ago and told them I'm not interested anymore. It stopped for six months and came back. It's so small, I haven't been paying attention to it - I guess part of their strategy. When I called today and asked WF to stop it, they want to charge me $30 for a six-month stoppage! Only after threatening to close all my accounts did she offer to waive it.

I called the 800-number and someone picked up. I have been assured that it has been cancelled. We will see. I'm so disgusted with Wells Fargo right now, there's a very high likelihood that I'll move to a different bank altogether!
