For heaven's sake people, just call your telephone provider and ask them to block the # for harrassing calls.  They will do it at no charge to you in that situation and you won't have to deal with any more calls.

call direct energy at 416-221-4441 and request to be sent to the dept that can remove your name from their solicitation list.  i got transferred to another system and pressed option #6.  it should take 24hrs to come into effect.  call is automated and it only kicks in when a command is said... thats why you hear only dead air.  I spoke with a rep from direct energy and she said she has been getting multiple calls regarding this problem.

I receive 2-3 calls everyday. When I pick-up nobody is there. but the line stays open for a period. When I notice the number I don't pick-up anymore but it is very annoying.

I have used to get calls from this number 2-3 times per day.

I called back and spoke to someone who actually knew English and was calling from Toronto and I called to take me off the list...We'll see...

Stupid Direct Energy...I told them I live in a condo and don't need them at all... but they are persistent...

Got calls from this number at least one per day at different times. Very annoying. My parent taken a nap after lunch and were woke up by the calls all the time. I have a caller ID record and wondering if I can sue them for this.

I have had this number call us the last 3 nights.  I pick up and no one answers.  I called the number back and it is Direct Energy, pressed 6 and asked to be put on their Do Not Call list.  The lady said no problem, took my postal code, address and phone number.  We'll see what happens.

I've been getting up to 7 calls from these bastards pretty much every day. The next time they call I'm going to actually pick up and tell them where to stick their heads. ;)

Calls come 2/3 times a day. Called back under "All other inquiries", very sorry for the trouble and will remove me from there caller data base.
Never got a call from Direct Energy and been a customer for over 20 years, I recently signed up for a A/C protection plan over the phone, I think that this must have triggered the calls as i was spending some cash.

Dont give them your info.. all they should need is your phone number to stop harrassing you.    These morons keep calling me about my bill....  I dont have F'N gas - i own a condo.

TOM - I would check your credit report if youre dealing with Union.. theyre scam artists and compulsive liars.  if youve given them your name thats plenty enouigh to start creating accounts that you wont know about untill they sell it to collectcorp. trust me.

I've registered with the no-call list (was Canada a tad late; do we have a government lobby problem; is winter cold?). I know it doesn't kick-in for a while. In the meantime, these jokers call here about three times each day.

Love the comments about the phone companies. Problem is, what if your 'phone company' is a cable company? The CRTC seems a tad mute on regulating them.

The phone calls aren't the worst problem. Somehow, competing gas 'providers' seem to know when you've just moved-in to a new house, and when you're at the 2-year renewal. Ignoring the doorbell is more difficult than ignoring the phone. Getting them to go away is like peeling a band-aid off. You don't want to say "f**k-off", but in the end, you know that that would have been less painful. "I want to check your bill for these two lines. You mean you don't want to be protected? This is something that you have to do." Who's regulating these people??

If you call a toll free number from a pay phone it cost them about $0.30 for each call.  If everybody would call the toll free number from a pay phone several times a day their cost of business would increase - perhaps enough that they would go out of business  When calling the toll free number you just have to make sure the call connects.  You don't have to have a conversation.  Once the call connects, even if it’s just for a second, they get charged the $0.30

got called from this number every 5 minutes - it's a crime! then, what i was doing was to call this number back every minute for protesting and asking them to stop calling. in th firsr 4 calls, the guys kept ask me to give them my number. I refused to do so, because i knew they were all liars - my number must have been shown on their screen. they just hung my call. no problem. at the 5th time, they put me on hold for 3 minutes before picked my call. while i persisted in not giving out my number, the guy read out my number from their screen and promised to take it out of their list. hope it works. sigh....
