I called back this 800 number and the person identified himself as Mr. Stoker, I believe, saying that hew was in MN. But, he would not give the name of his firm, so I hung up.

My experience was the same as that of the other people who posted a reply. The number shows up as an 800 number asking for a specific person. Then one has the option of answering if one is the person that they are looking for, or hitting 8 to let them know that one is not the desired person. Even if one hits 8, they still ask one to hold on to speak with one.

I got their address and message that solved my problem (keep reading). I called them and the first thing I said "are you on 6640 Shady Oak Road, Suite 300". I wanted him to know I know exactly were they are. I gave him my number that they call all the time and he said it is now removed. Let's hope that was good enough. But it is better when we show we know were they "live" at their work.

I copied the bellow message and the address from:
      http://whocallsme.com/Phone-Number.aspx/8002801565

"I have taken this information from a client's collection letter:
This is listed as Central Portfolio Control, Inc.  6640 Shady Oak Road, Suite 300, Eden Prairie, MN 55344-7710.  They are a collection agency.  They buy numerous accounts from different sources.  The signature on the collection letter I have in front of me is Bryan O'Toole.  The letter says that the collection agency is licensed by the Collection Service Board, State Department of Commerce and Insurance, 500 James Robertson Parkway, Nashville, TN 37243.  Look up the Fair Debt Collections Act. http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre27.pdf  It tells how to stop collections and where to report it - documentation to keep and collect once you have told them to stop harassing you at work, etc. good luck."

Whenever this number calls, they always leave a voicemail, in which it seems its chopped in half, and they its not a sales or telemarketing call but its an important matter.  well, if its that important, why do you leave the details of the important matter on the voicemail.

They called one of our business lines and left a "Chopped" message saying to call the number back immediatley. I called back and they would't give me any info without telling them number that they called. The guy claimed that three diff. companies use that line and each has over 100 eployees.

This number has been calling daily for the last month.  I do not pick up and
sometimes they leave a voicemail message saying "this message is for  -------
(someone else's name, not even similar to ours, and the name is added in electronically in a different voice) and that they have something
in their office for this person.  Please call 1-800-280-1565"
The original number comes from 950 944-1620 "Unknown Name".  I am
contacting the State Attorney General's office and our phone company.
    Call Type: Debt Collector

The call is from a collection agency, at least that's what they told me they were, named CPC based in Eden Prairie, MN. They supposedly bought a credit card debt of mine, which I paid off long ago, from someone and have been harassing me ever since. They are rude, keep hanging up on me when I ask for documentaion, don't state "This is an attempt to collect a debt...etc". I would NOT call them back like I did.

As others noted, these people call from a MN number at least every couple of days.  When I finally called the number they left in their message (800-280-1565), a man answered immediately and asked for the phone number I was calling from.  When I refused, stating that the calls were not for any person that works here, the man hung up.  I would love to know how to get these people to stop.  Will check back for any updates.

THE REASON WHY THE PERSON IS ASKING FOR A PHONE NUMBER IS SO THAT THEY CAN REMOVE THE NUMBER FROM THEIR FILES.  IF YOU DONT GIVE THEM THE NUMBER THEN THEY CANNOT PULL UP THE FILE. IF YOU WANT THINGS TO RUN SMOOTHLY NEXT TIME GIVE THEM THE PHONE NUMBER THAT THEY CALLED SO THAT THEY CAN PULL IT UP AND REMOVE IT OTHERWISE THEY WILL CONTINUE TO CALL!!!!!!!!!!!!

You people are pests of the worst kind.  I have received repeated calls on my voice mail and cannot enter "8" to let them know it is a wrong number.  However, today I was home and received the call and pressed "8" and was told to hang on the line.  When a man came on the line, he denied calling repeatedly and when I disputed the fact with him, he hung up on me.  You are not a reputable firm and I am reporting you to the State of Ohio Governor's office.
