Their frustration lies in the fact that they are calling about a debt that they KNOW you don't owe, yet want you to pay.

Receiving harrassing calls from "Harley" from this company. Calling both at work and home. He insists to my son that I am home after he's already told him I am not home. THEN to top it all off when I was off work for the day he calls my JOB (a government agency) and accussed the receptionist of lying that I am really there and that she's screening my calls and that I am standing right there. Is he crazy? Harassing a government agency?? Anyhow, he's getting no where with this attitude. I am service a Cease Contact letter this afternoon. I also contacted the original Financial Agency where this so called debt originated and complained. They said they'd do something but we'll see. I intend to track every call after the cease contact letter is recieved. THANKS for providing the mailing address, now I can serve these papers!!

I am writing this to make everyone concerned aware that the Sherman "Octopus" has added YET another name change to its bottom feeding junk debt buyer business. This afternoon, I received a telephone call from a " Jeff" claiming to be from a company called Credit Control. The telephone number was 1-866-384-3375(cannot locate information on this phone number anywhere). This "Jeff" claimed I owed a debt to Sears which was SOL about two years ago. I have already gone through several battles concerning this with: LVNV, Ventus, Alegis, Hanna and now this new one. I have no idea if "Credit Control" is a new name in the Sherman chain but it appears to be the case. Very interesting on how they never responded with validation demands with the other names yet they believe they will actually succeed with this one? HA!So just a heads up to those currently fighting the Sherman "octopus" about this new name change. Good luck on your current endeavors and thank you again Mr. Hibbs for showing us all that we can succeed against these fiends.

Everytime they call our house they ask for my Mum who moved out last year, but will never say why they're calling. They go "We have just seen some activity and we need her social to verify. We'd like to ask her questions about this activity and we need to speak to her." When you hang up on them they will call back within 10 seconds. I've done it 3-4x in a row before. I'd love to kick them in the mouth.

[***] (really and [***]) named "Brandon" called asking for someone that does not live here.  I asked him who he was and what company he was calling for.  He said "I already told you my name is Brandon and I'm with CCI now I know Amy is there so just put her on the phone".  I said there is no AMy there and if you continue to call, I will report you to the police.  Brandon replied laughing, "you're going to call the police?".  I said yes and DO NOT ever call here again.  Brandon said if you don't put Amy on the phone right now, I'm just going to keep calling you back again and again.

I called the 800-287-3130 number back and spoke to someone else.  I explained my frustration and he said he would take my number out of their system.  I asked how I could verify that it would be done.  He said that I could call back if I get more calls and that I could sue if I wasn't happy.  HOW FRUSTRATING!!

"Brandon" broke more the one provision of federal debt collection laws. If I were you, I'd nail them to the wall.

As an earlier message in this thread noted, this call was from a notoriously bad collection agency, LVNV Funding/Alegis. They also go by many other aliases.

Read the Bud Hibbs links for background on these bums:  http://www.budhibbs.com/debtcollectorpages/alegis_corp.htm
    http://www.budhibbs.com/debtcollectorpages/alegis_corp_cmts.htm

Bud's site has lots of advice on dealing with these law breakers. Here are some other links that you may find helpful:

    http://www.naca.net/debt-collection-abuse/
    http://www.budhibbs.com/First.htm
    http://www.fairdebtlawyers.com/

At the very least, I suggest you do this:

    1) file a complaint online with the Federal Trade Commission here: http://ftc.gov/ftc/cmplanding.shtm

    2) File a complaint online with the Federal Communications Commission here: http://www.fcc.gov/cgb/complaints_tcpa.html

    3) File a complaint with your state's attorney general. (Check your attorney general's website)

    4) Send LVNV Funding/Alegis a letter, via certified mail with a return receipt request, directing them to cease all communication with you and warning them that if they don't, you'll gleefully pursue every applicable legal penalty against them.  Just be sure to mail it via *certified* US Mail with a return receipt request, and save a copy of your letter.  If they contact you more than once after receiving your cease communication letter, then they are breaking the law and subject to fines for each incident.  I'm sure you can find more details about the cease-communication option on the websites of the NACA and Bud Hibbs that I referenced above.

Do all this, and I doubt "Brandon" will continue laughing :)

SOL 2 years ago? In most states, you can still get sued.  Bud hibbs is a tool, and is just as money hungry as debt collectors.

Hibbs explains all of your debt as "junk, waste, and toxic waste."  95% of the debt companies attempt to collect on is ligit.  So whats bud really saying about you?  Well, let me explain it.  If you get a call from a company, who bud has described as a "bottom feeder"...where does that put you on the food chain?  After all, theyre calling for you, fora  debt that YOU made. Not mom, not dad, not billy.  Use your brains people....Be real Americans and pay your bills.

That's rich: a debt collector, whose entire business is a criminal enterprise, throwing stones.  And, like most sleazy collectors, unable to find the shift key or punctuate.  I guess dots are treated as interchangeable with commas, semicolons, and apostrophes by those dreaming of one day obtaining a high school GED.  So, so typical.  REAL TALK should read ALL TALK.

Price check 1= I'm not a bill collector.  Any other assumptions you’d like to get cleared before we continue?
Price check 2= You have no valid argument; therefore, you criticize the way I type on a message board. How adult of you. This isn’t a test...and I have no need to impress you. Save the spelling and punctuation ridicule for your bratty kids homework.

"Bratty kid's homework."  You do have a problem with apostrophes.  That's what reaching the fourth grade could taught you, debt collector. You've succeeded in not impressing me - and, apparently, at nothing else.
