- Phone Number replies to Elena| 7 repliesThat number just showed up on my cell & it's a reminder from Walgreen's that a refill is available on one of my prescriptions. I guess it's a new service they are offering!
- John Doe| 11 repliesIt says it is Walgreen with a reminder of an RX refill reminder. .I returned the call but I am not trustworthy of calls like this that it asked for private information Birth date ect. I hung up. I will call my local pharmacy and get the scoop on this. I am on on the do not call registry for home and cells. also did an update on the do not call so it was less than 6 montht too. I am tired of no data ect in the calls coming from various people. How can we stop them from calling us.
- Caller: Walgreen
- mmmhmmI just got a call from this number, it is walgreens, just call the local walgreens directly where you normally get your prescriptions if you are paranoid
- Caller: walgreens
- Call type: Event reminder
- Mpls| 7 repliesThis is *NOT* Walgreens. I called the local pharmacy and I had NO prescriptions waiting contrary to the voice mail this # left me. Additionally, the pharmacist said they were getting SEVERAL calls from people who got this call and had NO prescriptions waiting. Don't give these people ANY personal info. It is a scam.
- Caller: scam
- Lu| 1 replyAll week I have been getting recorded messages, sometimes twice in a day, claiming to be from my local Walgreen's reminding me to refill a prescription. I called my local pharmacy to ask about it, but the pharmacist brushed me off saying they had no such service and I had no prescriptions needing refills. Tonight there was a voicemail with a similar message and the phone number in question. I have ended the calls without giving any information
- Caller: Walgreens (?)
- Call type: Event reminder
- Sue| 2 repliesIt is not Walgreens. They will call automatically from their store with a local number in your area on your caller ID. Do not give out any info on the 800 number. Rather, just don't answer it.
- Mellisa BIt is in fact Walgreens automated prescription refill. I called the number back, got my monthly prescription refilled, it was ready at the exact time they said it would be ready.
How convenient!- Caller: Walgreens
- Call type: Event reminder
- Lisa B| 1 replyIf it is Walgreens, you need to be set up on their automated refill service which I am not....this number called me and there was no one on the other end.
- Caller: unknown
- wireless pre-paid cell| 2 repliesNeed better laws to stop money-wasting in-calls that gouge folk's pockets.
No idea who this is 8002891179 medical and financial reasons is enough cause to not answer unknown callers but wrong to take folks money by using minutes to ck vm and get all dead air because dialers hangup/no msg.- Caller: unknown
- ALLH| 1 replyI received a call from this number saying it was Walgreens and asking for DOB, phone number, etc. Called my local pharmacy and they said they are not aware of this number and confirmed that they were not trying to contact me for any reason.
- JewelsThis is a new service that Walgreens has started. When we have a prescription that needs renewing within a week, this service calls you automatically. I was leary myself, and blocked them from calling..
now, I will have to unblock them.. it's safe.- Caller: Walgreens Drug Store
- Call type: Event reminder
- llwhite replies to MplsYes, I called Walgreens as well and they did not have anything ready for me to pick up. Do not call this number back and give any information to them.
- KAREN J| 1 replyThis is not Walgreens-no message left
- John Doe 2 replies to John Doe| 2 repliesI got one of these calls too. This is a new service from Walgreens called "Refill Reminder". It calls about 3 days before you are due to refill and allows you to refill right over the phone. I too am a bit concerned about giving out private data, but was told pharmacies have to ask for birthdate to confirm patients due to HIPPA regulations.
As for "no call", that really only applies if you don't give the company your information. You probably gave Walgreens your informaiton as part of your profile. Almost all companies can exclude calling you by service if you ask. - MMMMMMMMMM replies to Mpls| 1 replyAcually, your pharmacy won't have anything ready for you UNLESS you order over the phone. This call allows you to order, it is different than Walgreen's "Rx Ready" call.
- Reply to Lisa B replies to Lisa BLisa, Walgreens is offering this as a free service that you don't have to opt into. If you don't want to get the calls, there is a prompt where you can press "8" to opt out. This automatically keeps you from getting "Refill Reminder" calls for 1 year.
- Reply to Sue replies to SueSue, it acually is Walgreens. Many large companies contract with other companies to make these automated calls. I bet they are using AT&T.
But as always, if you have questions, call your local Walgreens! - Tim replies to KAREN JKaren, I called my local Walgreens and the told me it was part of their new service, "Refill Reminder". My pharmacy told me the call tries to get ahold of you twice, but only leaves a message after the 2nd call. On the message it should leave an 800 number to call back and order perscriptions.
These calls will ask for your birthdate (only birthdate, not SS or anything else). Pharmacies have to do this due to HIPPA regulations. You wouldn't want just anyone being able to know the medication you were on. - MaryI called Walgreens and they said that the call didnt come from their store and have no idea what it's about..hmmm
