They claimed to be working for Avis car rental company trying to find a car that my wife, supposedly, rented but they had no verifying information such as our address, date the car was rented, nothing except the last four digits of my wifes SS#...which she, unfortunately, verified. I have rented cars before and they have ALL of your info when they rent out cars...this HAS to be a scam!

Two individuals came to my house at 9:46 p.m. on 8/10/10, and left a card for me to call them on my door. The card had the message "It is imperative that you call us regarding a personal matter within the next 24 hours.  It had the name David Stone on it at ext. 9268. It also included a name written in pen of Miller indicating to call any time at 773-771-4677.  Obviously for repossession.

This is a company that Citifinancial Auto is using.  They have been calling my close friends and family members for the past 6 months... every time I am late with a payment.  Not sure how they obtained the contact information but I have been told that they call EVERYDAY.  Even when I have called them directly asking to work out a payment plan.  They told me that I have to pay first in order to work out a plan but I explained that I was let go from my employer for over a year now.  They are not willing to work with me and my reduced income and should not be in the business of lending if they have to resort to shady tactics such as these.

PIST THAT THEY THINK THEY ARE SLICK replies to Stressed Citifinancial Auto Customer
I just got my card in mail from a Elaine Crawford ext 9840
and my sister got one at her place.
So yes it's about a repo.
They can have it back I'm with a credit union they don't do anything to help you so I'm getting a new car and then they can have theirs back. :)

These sneaky tactics are funny. If u would just help people that is in need then they won't be looking for cars trying to trip people up

I just got a letter in the mail with a relatives name on it.  Opening up the letter was a small card inside saying "It is imperative that you call us regarding a personal matter within the next 24 hours".  This has nothing to do with me, but they are looking for the relative.  If they come knocking at my door wanting to disrupt my life I will give them a piece of my mind for So... GET LOST!

So they sent a letter to your house. Maybe your family member shouldn't have put you down as a reference. You may want to take that up with the family member as to why they gave out your info. These guys are simply out doing a job. At least they are not just sitting around waiting for next government check to come. They do their job so they can afford their payments. They don't ask people to stop making their payments that is their choice. These guys are everyday people with families to support yet people [***] when they work. The economy wouldn't be so bad if people weren't buying things they can't afford. You blame the banks for the foreclosures too?

You are a liar! replies to quit whining
That is bull! Everyone knows that these scam artists get family information from resources like facebook. They hunt down relatives and lie to them, and making it seem like it is a life threatening emergency. Most people realize that the scam artist is full of it, but every once in a while you get one relative that doesn't realize it is a scam and gives up the victim's phone number or address. Maybe get a job where you don't steal from people! It's obvious from all the deleted posts that you are harassing the people on this forum. Typical scum of the Earth!
