The call came from Cancer Fund. They asked for donations. It's not the first time they called. They called earlier, but every time we answer all we heard was a dial tone. When I called back I got a fast busy signal or a message about all all circuits being busy. The last time I finally got a live person on the other end. Asked them questions on the fund distribution and they could not give me straight answers. I said that I do not donate with only limited information available, and hung up. They continue calling....
We have been screening our calls. Since this is a non-profit organization, they can dial our number to ask for donations. We have learned to ignore the call when we see the number on our caller ID. I am tired of dropping what I am doing to check the phone. Commercial businesses cannot call us because we are on a no-call list in Wisconsin. I have enough mail from these groups and don't want my phone used this way. Thank you Smith, for calling them and providing your message about the phone number.
They have been calling me after 9 pm and this morning I got one at about 9:30 and another just now at 10:30. I googled the number and found this site (what a great resource!). I hope they arent going to be as much of a pest as "ACS" was (alias American Charitable Services, American Community Services, etc., depending on what the card they were reading said). I talked to several ACS "supervisors" who each told me they would remove my name from their list. Harsh as this sounds, I don't think there should be any do not call list exemptions for charitable organizaitons, and if they get enough negative reports ther puppy mill phone bank should be fined and shut down.
They called a few weeks ago, and asked for a $50 donation. I agreed to $25. Later that evening, they called again, asked how I was doing. I told them I'd be better if they'd stop calling. Then a week later they call 3 times a day. When my wife answers, they ask for me. I get on the phone, and nobody is there.
They stopped calling for a few days, and they just called back, but nobody was on the phone.
Due to their non-stop calling, along with a Kansas Chiefs of Police acting the same way, I will no longer donate to any organization that calls.
This number shows up quite frequently on my caller ID and I usually am not home when they call. Tonight, I decided to answer and I got dead air as many of you have experienced. I called back and it says that is Cancer Fund of America and explains what the funding provides. Very odd since I'm on the do not call list.
I got a call from this number today - didn't recognize the number, so I didn't pick up and they didn't leave any message. But I did call them back and got the same recorded message as Rikk above as to purposes, assurances that they're registered with the AG, etc. I'm also on the Do Not Call list, but perhaps because they're a registered non-profit, as they exempt? Regardless, when they tell me to leave a message and they'll call back so I can donate, they're done for me.
answered but I didn't say anything - other end said nothing on speake phone, waited until they hung up - this must be a form of terriorism and Homeland has no clue how to stop them or he/she, him/her either........
Got the same call. My question is: what can be done to change the law that allows all sorts of phantom non-profit orgs to _legally_ call us anytime they want, even if we registered our numbers with "Do Not Call"? What part of the "Do Not Call" don't the legislators understand? An unsolicited call is unsolicited, especially from an entity I don't have any business with.
They call generally around 8 pm CST for us - I tell them not to call back. They call back a few days later and it sounds like the same lady - I tell her not to call again and she gets a bit snippy sounding. It's really irritating - I wish they could be charged after all the times we all tell them not to call and go on the do not call list.
I got a call from them noone home and no message left when I called them all I could get was all of their represenatives were busy.I bet they were busy calling everyone else they haven't gotten to yet.
I have recieved 19 calls in 3 days from the Cancer Fund. When I ask for info on how much of my donation actually goes to the fund they don't know. These so called non-profit organizations can keep up to 90% of your donation, and I don't deal with them. Plaese don't call my house again.
Answered phone today when the number came up on my caller ID just for the heck of it. I answered with my home business name, there was dead air for a few seconds, so I said my business name again. The caller said, "I've got the wrong number", and hung up. They usually call in the evening, but today, it was in the morning.
when I answered the phone there was about 3 seconds of silence followed by what sounded like a black woman making mocking sounds in jibberish 'WAAAaaa boooOOOO fooo yooooO' and then more silence. After I said hello? a couple times I hung up.
