I just received this 3 ring call at 2:45pm.  This call was identical to a letter that was received in today's mail addressed to my husand.This came from a company selling credit card id protection. To my knowledge my husband did not ask for any such protection.  Sorry but I shredded the letter so I have details for you.

This is Citibanks identity monitoring service

An automatic message asking you to press "1" if I am the person, "2" if the person is not available, etc. is on my answering machine.  It keeps repeating over and over until it times out.  When the name of the company is mentioned it is unintelligible.  The girl on the message has a pseudo-British accent.

received a call from this number....when I called back it sounds like it is some identity theft monitoring service...just dropped the idea to contact them...will see if it is citi then they should send a letter or something.

Indeed, this is Citibank's identity monitoring service.  

But just to be safe, I logged in to my account and called the number on the identity monitor website instead (which is the same one as in my paperwork).

When I called they were trying to reach me to ask extra questions so they could forward my credit report to me (you know, do you have an account with bank xyz?  Have you lived on ABC street?)

In my case, they asked the incredibly stupid question please list any two creditors on your account.
I gave an answer that I'm sure is true for a large fraction of people: the names of the two largest banks in the US.
