I received a postcard today also with a release code number attached (12810-02583) stateing that a pending amount of $20,798 dollars are awaiting for me to claim, does anyone know what this about?

Rec'd postcard today, called about this government funding. They will send you a package in the mail, package normally costs $59.00 plus shipping. But since I called today it would be free, had to pay $12.95 to receive, They wanted my credit card info, told her I wasn't interested and hung up. Sounds like a scam to me...

I received a postcard form the Claims Department to Gina Norfolk regarding a dispersal of Government Fending.  That my status is pending. and my claim deadline is April 12, 2012. It gives me a number to call but no way to reach anyone, due to no extension number provided nor code number.  What do I do?My email address is norfolkgina @yahoo.com. It says it is from the DOE.ANd has a release code written on it and states I must verify by phone.

Today is April 10,2012.  I will look at this board for a response.  The number that they left for me to contact says Audix? 1-800-321-6563.  The exact amount is 20,978.  Is this real or is it a scam?  Please someone reply. How can I verify this?  Before deadline?

I received a postcard in the mail from Global Assistance Program 800-321-6563 and told me they were the Claims department from the Department of Education saying an amount of $20978 is pending for me upon verification by phone. They were actually trying to sell me a free application for a free grant.  A scam. And tell me they could offer me the services to make me more eligible to receive the money. a 1 out of 3 chance of receiving the monies.

I received this same post card and called the company.  I pulled up previous case documents as well regarding situations like this and called as an "employee" of the Federal Trade Commission of my state.  I stated that their company is undergoing a pending investigation and when I stated this, the operator started telling all sorts of little details; fine print so to speak.  Basically, you pay $12.95 to get a guidebook that they send to you for free (the payment is for shipment and handling.....) and that they provide you no funding what-so-ever.  The funding is obtained yourself by using the knowledge learned from the guidebook to apply for grants.  The government then reviews these applications and deems which candidates to provide the funding to.  The grant amount of $20,978 is the maximum government grant funding that can be received by one individual in a single year but ONLY if the person is qualified.  In addition, most of the grant funding is expense-specific.  For example, the guidebook was stated by the operator to, and I quote, "walk you through getting a federal pell grant through FAFSA."  Anyone that has attended college, or is attending college, knows that the FAFSA, or Free Application for Federal Student Aid, is indeed a pell grant and is awarded to any candidate that makes less than a certain amount but is useable for School, or school-related, expenses only.

This call proved to me that it is indeed a scam.  Anyone interested in viewing previous scam-artistry attempts of this sort should view this government court case:

This company is doing the same as the previous company that was taken down in court a few years back.  Anddddd sorry for the long rave but I hate scam artists that do this: use people's financial status and hardships as bait to screwing them over even more after providing them a glimmer of hope.  Hopefully not too many have fallen for this and hoping that nobody else will.

Also, I would like to note that applying for grants doesn't cost you anything.  Research on the internet.  Just go to google and search for Federal Grants for _____(your need; ex: education).  Any site that pops up as a .gov extension will be a legitimate site.  There are grants for all sorts of needs, such as financial assistance for low-income families, financial assistance for Hispanics, financial assistance for physically impaired.  Many people can find a grant that suits there situation so get out there and take a look.

Gina honey, its a scam. I got the same in the mail. Now think about it. We really need the money right. I just applied for a Sallie mae loan to help with my cost for college living expenses. Someone bought our names and address and somehow we have something in common. Maybe the same phone service or whatever. Who ever it is sent the post card quick and in order to pull the scam off must do it quick. Note that the automated voice is uk not American. Whenever its to good to be true, it must not be true,but we keep hoping right.  HAve a great day and don't sweat it something good will come your way, but this isn't it.

I also received one of those cards in the mail and I live right outside of Chicago. I called and talked to a Spanish sounding girl named May. She did give me an extension to call back because I told her I was surviving on child-support right now and had no money.

I received this message today and even called, something in the voice and $12.99 one time offer and then $12.99 repeated didn't sit well w/ me... I'm thankful I decided to check it out and u brought it home to me... Thanks again..
