Some guy from this number calls and says he is from a debt collection agency and that we owe some money to Hackensack medical center. But he refuses to send a mail with the details. Wants details of the payment we have made. I think its a scam. Others beware.

Got the same voice mail message as NJ - called the number and it was the extension of a "Diane Meyers" at NCO Financial.

I'm 100% positive this is a scam - the only reason I'm, going to follow up is to try to put the fear of God in these creeps. I have an above 800 credit score and NO - that's exactly $00.00 - debt whatsoever, current or past due, except for my 3-months paid ahead mortgage (in other words, my next mortgage payment isn't due until October.) So I'm looking forward to making them cry like a girl when they try to threaten me.

Got a call Apr 23, they left voice mail message to contact Diane Meyers as well. They also had a reference number for me to call them with. My credit score is also in good standing. But I called back to see what the voicemail was about. They asked if There was a person by another name at my number.  I said 'no' and they said 'thank you' and hung up.

Just make sure you write down everything they say to you and do not admit it is your debt becuase you dont know if it is a legitimate debt or not.  Make sure they do not ding your credit report.  A great source for info on this is http://freecreditrestore.net  good luck!

I told them take my name of their list and they other option was to called me by an unknown number. God will deal with those criminals.

A woman called and said that a debt needed to be collected. She kept trying to verify my name.  I called back and they said my name again and asked if it was me. This time it was a guy and asked me to identify if he was saying my name. Then he asked for my birthdate. I said "no" and wanted asked him to tell me the debt, and he said, "you will have to get a letter from us."  I called back a few times but got an automated voice and music.  This person should be reported to the Department of Consumer Affairs and the state attorney general.

I received a call from NCO financial to call back a diane meyers. I called back and at first just got an automated system. Then I tried again and got a representative who looked up my phone number. She said my son, who is a toddler, has an outstnading debt. I told her he is a baby and cannot have a debt and she said it was then my debt. She would not tell me what the debt was for. I asked for this to be put in writing and mailed to me. She said a letter will go out. Then to call back once i received a letter. I think this is a scam. What kind of debt could a child have?????

    Don't Call Them back
This is a scam it might be to collect a debt that's been sold a thousand times and has already been written off ten years ago and wouldn't be and can't be on your credit report after 7 -10 years depending on type of debt.
They might even call and say another name not yours and you call them back and tell them they must have a wrong number and that no one lives here by that name. DON'T DO THIS! They will say sorry it must be a mistake and ask you your name knowing full well you were the one they were after in the first place but they know you wouldn't call if they gave your name on recording.
They they try to trip you up and you say your name and they say so you are "blah blah" and you say yes and they record it attach it to the debt and claim you agreed this was your debt. It wouldn't stand up in court but can be enough to scare some people and may even be enough for them to get it on your credit report. Which again you can get removed if you dispute it but what a headache. It's easier not to call them back!

    1) Just don't call back
    2) Even if you're curious never give your info not even your name let them tell you everything or nothing that's their choice.
    3) Like Laura they may even use your kids name to get you to call back. (sometimes thought it's a shot in the dark on their part and her son's name just probably matches the name on some old debt they bought and are trying to find info on this person. They probably made calls to 100 people with the same name to see if any stick.) So again best advice is don't answer and don't call back!

Received call from automated  speaker stating to call a Samuel Jackson at 800.334.0626 regarding a reputed debt.  Please note that I too have a credit score above 800 -- so no, I have no debts.
( Idea: I recently re-gistered on the National Do Not Call Registry,  Likely, NCO has a source -- and will pester anyone who does not want to be pestered by anyone.  Same experience? Please note. )
