This is discover bank in Ohio. They sent me a 1099-C form and it says cancellation of debt. Do we have to pay taxes on this? Please don't be rude, this is not a shill, just a confused man wondering what this is? Yes, I defaulted on a credit card and a nasty company called Mann Bracken collected until they went under.

Got the samething in the mail.  I don't know who these people are and I never had a credit card with Discover Bank.  I had a CC ith Discover Card, but it was not out of Ohio.

I also received a fake cancelled debt form 1099-C from these crooks.  I do not owe them any charged off debt.  I will seek legal help to get them to send me a voided 1099-C tax form  I will take them to court   if necessary.

I also received a fake tax statement form from this idiots and it worry me a lot because it has somebody else name with my same last name and under taxpayer ID, the last 4 digits of my social security number, I thought somebody had stolen my identity and had gone requesting credit cards in my name. I am happy I check in this page before I call to the 800 number that is in the form, it even has a federal ID number for the Discover Bank 51-0020270. I am glad I check on this page before I call the crocks. Our world is infested with this cockroaches lurking and jumping on an opportunity to invade the lives of good people. I call them cockroaches because they produce in me the same reproach and disgust that those insects. I will call Monday to the IRS to report this. I wish I had money to hired a lawyer too.
