Hollander Law Office, supposedly a debt collector, called and wanted me to give them my social security number or date of birth to verify that I was the correct person. I of course did not give them that information, and I can't understand why they would expect me to. If they're legitimate, they have the wrong person.

We got a call from Hollander Law Offices asking to speak with my husband.  They said they could talk to me about "the matter" if I would verify his birth day and the last 4 numbers of his ss#.  When I didn't give him the info he said he would call later.  I gave the info to my husband who then called the "law office" back.  The man told my husband that the matter he needed to discuss was important but he couldn't until he proved he was the correct person.  Then my husband gave him his birthdate.  The man said, "no you must not be the same guy we're looking for".  Sounded legit but I got suspicious when my father in law called saying the same folks had called him looking for my husband.  Weird!
I just hope they are not able to ruin us by having my husband's birthday now.

I got a message asking me to call back. I call back the the lady got no idea why they called me. Then she told me they look for some body they has the same name with me for some bussiness issue. She asked for my last 4 SSN, I told her mine. Then she said, "you are not the guy we're looking for, thanks"

These people or person is/are a scammer/impostor.
If you owe to anyone there is a bill and there is also sufficient information regarding that.If they dont have that too bad youo dont owe a dime until its proven.
You are making a mistake even chit-chat while you are revealing information.
Any legitimate office does not call unless its consented by you and agreed.
There is an outgoing caller ID faker service that you can buy and fake even the president's office number.
The legitimate communication is letter then certified letter.

2 voice calls from them, yesterday, and today they left phone message -

a woman identifying herself as 'hevel guttierez' (or similar, hard to understand) wanted an eloi to call her back at that number, and she'll be "in the office until 9pm cst"

but nobody lives here by that name, nor can i think of someone called that
