I got a call on Sunday from "our bank.I told her the company owner didn't work on weekends.Then I got a message last night to call our bank about a very important matter.I called and it was answered with our banks' name She asked for the number I was calling from.Then she asked for the account number.I refused to give it to her and she told me"never mind,the problem is fixed".I asked her how it got fixed magically without the company owner and during weekend hours when banks are closed.

Twice in the past week I've received a voicemail message on my business phone from 5/3rd bank (which is my bank) asking me to call 1-800-421-9543 regarding a problem with my account.  I'm always suspicious of scams though.  The first time I got the message I called my bank on their actual 800 number that is given for customer service on their website...they verified their weren't any messages on my account.  Then I called 800-421-9543 out of curiousity...they asked me what number I was calling from first.  Then for my name.  I told them I had reservations about giving any personal information and with that she hung up on me.

I suspected and am now thoroughly convinced this is a scam...DO NOT give them any information.

FYI, I have received two messages from this number, both on my work phone and both on Sunday.  Upon calling the number they answer as Fifth Third Bank (who is my personal bank).  They asked me for my name and account number neither of which I would give them.  On top of my original suspicions the phone connection I had was terrible.  I refused to give them any info and quickly afterward called my local branch.  The branch confirmed there were NO issues with my account.

Called that number 1-800-421-9543 and got Raul. SCAM!!

Out of curiosity, I "played along" and provided the automated machine with a false account number which it accepted.  It then asked for my SSN for which I provided another false number.  It then asked for my phone number.  After all that (obviously, none of it could've been successfully verified) a human answered, who began the drill all over again.

800-421-9543 is a fake bank phising scam

Got a voice message from 800-421-9543 saying I needed to call for an important message from Fifth Third Bank. When I called I got a recording that asked me to enter my account number. If you don't know it, you are to enter your Social security number. That request right there convinced me this is call was a ruse for identity theft. I hung up.

A call was left on my answering machine claiming to be Fifth Third Bank.  It stated that I should call regarding my bank account.  I was not familiar with Fifth Third Bank.  Thus, I definitely didn't have a bank account with them. As you can see, I was immediately suspicious.  Since my number is restricted, where and how do you think these individuals are getting the information.  

I also received a message from this number claiming to be 53 bank.  I called them and they asked for my account number. I told them I did not know it. Then they asked for my social security number. I told him I did not know it and promptly hung up.

I received three calls over the weekend from a restricted number.  I didn't answer the call.  After the third call there was a message that said they were from 5th 3rd bank and it was a courtesy call but call them as soon as possible.  The message said they had weekend hours.  That was odd.  When I called the recording asked for my account number and ss #.  I did not give either.  When the call went through to a person, he said hello and that was another flag, since he didn't even use a company name.  I ended up hanging up after I told them that I would go to my bank personally.

This is a legitimate bank.  My mortgage is through them.

The point is not whether or not 5/3 Bank is legitimate.  The point is:  was the source claiming to be this bank legitimate?  Can you PROVE that it is?  Apparently there wouldn't be a discussion here if it was.  You clearly missed the point or you are part of the problem!  This is not one of their toll free numbers.  Going to the bank in person is the best thing to do & have them report it as THEIR  identity is being assumed by these crooks to in turn assume OUR identity.  A letter should be sent in the mail if there are supposed problems/concerns with a customer's account.  And even then, a letter could be made up to look like an official business letter from a bank if we want to be technical about it.

Automated caller needs to speak to you about your account but they don't ask for a name.
Beware, this is a B.S. Call

Got a call FROM 800-837-5745, and it was a recording telling me there's a problem with my account, and to call 800-421-9543. Called the ACTUAL Fifth Third Bank customer service line at 800-473-6934 (printed on a bank statement) and talked to an agent who (of course) told me my account is fine, all okay etc. He ran both of those numbers through their system, and NIETHER of those numbers are Fifth Third Bank numbers. Also called Agruss Consumer Law (found by Googling the bogus 800-421-9543) They called that number and said someone answered as "Fifth Third Bank" and wanted account info, SS number etc. like the real bank would, which it is NOT.  The call is a SCAM.

I doubt they called the number on your behalf, as they are an "ambulance chaser" type company that advertises to get you money for harassing robo-calls. They won't be able to do that with many Scammers who spoof numbers to phish you for info to gain access to your account.
I would not rely on that website for resolutions concerning scam/phishing calls, as not everything they claim is going to happen as they say.

Verified with fifth third this is not their return number
it's a scam!
