Got lots of calls from this phone number. When I finally answered a guy told me that he was calling from Chase Bank collections department. I told him that I have no business with Chase and he told me to call 800-654-9230 to remove my number from their list.
I keep getting calls from this number as but never answer and they start at 8am as well AND SOMETIMES HAVE CALLED at 9:30pm. I answered today and just said stop calling here and hung up. I did not give an opportunity for them to speak. How can we stop them calling...
HERE IS CHASE FAX NUMBER FAX THEM A LETTER TELLING THEM TO CEASE ALL CALLS 888-643-9628 According to the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, [15 USC 1692c] Section 805(c): CEASING COMMUNICATION: I also request that you cease all phone calls immediately, with me after being notified in writing that I no longer wish to communicate with you via telephone. Therefore, I demand that Chase bank, et al, Collection Services, Inc, et al, stop calling me at home, at work, on my cell phones or at any or all other locations. In accordance with the federal FDCPA, now that you have received this "stop calling" letter, you may only contact me to inform me that you: • are terminating further collection efforts; • invoking specified remedies which are ordinarily invoked by you or your company; or • Intend to invoke a specified remedy.
Be advised that I am well aware of my rights! For instance, I know that any future telephone contact by you or your company et al, or representatives, violates the FDCPA and that since you already have my location information, calls made by you or your company to any third party concerning me violates section 805(b) 2 of the FDCPA. Be advised that I am keeping accurate records of all correspondence from you and your company, including tape recording all phone calls. If you continue calling me, I will pursue all available legal actions to stop you from harassing my family and me. PLEASE PASS THIS ON....
It is against the law for debt collectors to contact you earlier than 8 am or after 9 pm. It's also unlawful for them to repeatedly call you in such a way to appear to annoy you. These activities should be reported to the Federal Trade Commission. Everyone should be doing this; it's a personal responsibility.
I received my first call at 7:28am. I was in the shower at the time. When I was dressed and ready to start my day I picked up the phone from its charger and saw that they had phoned me starting at 7:28am and then dialed my number every 6 minutes thereafter until 8:10am. That is a total of 5 calls in less than one hour. I'd say that's excessive wether or not someone is just trying to do their job that is overkill and I would definitely call it harrassment. Not to mention they did the same thing mid day - while I was working and not near the phone - and again at 8pm when I was again TRYING TO WORK my second job. Never once left a message. I really think this criminal.
We had the same problem on a bill that we didn't owe. Contact Kimberly Wright at kwright@consumerlawcenter.com. Telephone # 323-988-2400 ext. 250. Fax 1-866-583-3695. You can see their website at www.krohanandmoss.com. They filed a lawsuit against the collection agency. The agency had to pay both us and the lawyer fees, and all costs. It was done and over with in a matter of weeks and no more annoying calls. They also had to clean up our credit which they had unjustly trashed. Make sure you are keeping records of all the calls, dates, time, who you talked to, and what was said. This was a great way of getting a great result. Finally some justice. Good luck.
Everyone Listen to This!!!! I am receiving this on my SKYPEin number. This is new and I have not given it to only closest friends. Please explain how a creditor can access this number. One is to believe that Big Corp is now using their power and privacy records to gain personal access. We need to do something proactive about this before we are all compromised. Farming out records to India is very risky. They do not have the same standards of holding documents, shredding of important papers...etc. Yes, they need jobs, but Big Corp does not have to adhere by the same human rights standards, or operations they do in the US. Are they helping or taking advantage of people who are in need of basic requirements. They need to play in their own SANDBOX!
Sadly, your number from SKYPE was probably purchased from Ma Bell or another defunct phone company. You are getting the calls because either 1) This was a former deadbeat's number or 2) Someone either accidently or on purpose gave a "phoney" (No pun actually intended, but it works though.) phone number. I will post in one week whether the call I placed to 1-800-654-9230 works. ALSO- Very important- Dont yell or be abusive to the folks from India. They are just working joes like us, and they don't call us because it's fun. I imagine they get a lot of rude people, and if you annoy them they won't help you. I am NOT for outsourcing the jobs, but like it or not, this is the only way to get rid of the calls.
Do what I do with these telemarketing/collections calls.
I have my calls go to a cellular phone. I program all of these calls to come up on the screen as "COLLECTIONS-xx", where the xx is a two digit number (I get a lot of collections calls unfortuately). I then program these numbers to ring silent, that is, I never hear the phone ring.
I still get the calls, but they don't interrupt my dinner, sleep, sex, etc. :]]]
I have now called the 1-800-654-9230 number . It asked for my 16 digit account number (I obviously don't have one). I hit 0. The machine then asked for the 16 digit number again, or hold the line and a CR will answer your call. Then I got the "all our representitives are assisting other callers" and that "the call will be monitored or recorded". In under 30 seconds a polite lady from Bangalore, India answered and asked for my acct #. I told her I had none, and I had just gotten the phone number from AT&T month ago. She had me recite my number, then asked if I was Johnathan Smith, I said no and gave her my name. She had me repeat the last 4 digits from my phone number, and said it would be dropped from the list. I will let you know how this works.
Folks, It has been just one day and the Chase collectors are no longer calling. As another person stated, I usually would get a call near 8 30 am and 3-4 times a day. 24 hours and not one. So remember, be REALLY polite, state you just recently got the number, and they'll likely pull you from the active list. I honestly hope you have as good of luck as I have. If this changes, I will write again.
I've been getting calls to my FAX line from this number for weeks at all hours of the day & night. The caller ID said, "International 1-800-424-5004". I called the number back this morning & an automated message said, "Welcome to Chase credit card services. Please enter your 16 digit card number." .. I did NOT! .. I contacted Chase since I have a Chase card. They said that this is NOT from their company, and to NOT enter any information.
Obviously, somebody out there is trying to steal credit card numbers.
Go to www.krohnandmoss.com . They took care of a similar problem for us. We didn't owe the money, they trashed our credit, and we were getting lots of annoying calls. One of their lawyers, Kimberly Wright, filed a lawsuit for us and within a matter of weeks, the collection agency had to pay us, the lawyer fees, all costs, clean up our credit they had wrongfully trashed, and no more annoying calls. This is the absolute best way to handle these things. Much less stress on you and you are paid for being annoyed and harassed.
I got a call twice within a half hour from this number, and didn't answer. From what I've read of other people's problems with this number, I'm glad I didn't answer.
