Same thins as everyone else. They started calling around 8:10 this morning and have continued in 1/2 intervals and when I did pickup nothing. I called back and also got a computer recording saing "please put in your account number" It is 9:35 and they have called 4x already. I contacted ATT and they said they know of the problem and said there is nothing they can really do. I told them with 4 lines of service and $300/month they better find something or we will go somewhere else. I contacted the local Police Dept and they also are aware of the problem. NOT MUCH ANYONE CAN DO!! Next contact your local Governer or Rep, I dont know!!

I too have been plagued by 800-424-5004 and other similar #'s.  Now when a call comes in from anyone of those #'s or ones I do not recognize, I simply answer the phone with "Good morning Chase Bank, how may I route your call?. If I have to wait for a living, breathing person, I will.  I am now turning the tables on them. My next step is to go out armed with a pocket full of loose change and call those #'s from pay phones from within government buildings.  The caller ID on the other end will show up as the agency.  Have fun!!!

So I get about 20 to 25 calls a day and yes, they are in india, and yes, it is a sham. I don't know of any bank that would call you and not leave a message regarding money that you owe them. Anyway, today I have decided to call them back and give them my 2 cents about what they are doing. I think that everyone on this list should do that.

These telemarketer jerks called 2 times within 5 minutes to my work phone at around noontime today, and I think they called once yesterday. I just let voice mail answer, they don't say anything but voice mail records it as an incoming message. Telemarketers are NOT supposed to call people AT WORK.

800-521-3236 ex: 4729 Sherry Alexander:  Claims to be from Client Services. She did not state she was representing BofA - she merely claimed she would not negotiate with a third party. She questioned me about my deceased husband and started talking to me how I made charges to the account and then I just stopped paying on the account. I explained to her I am with a debt service program and have an attorney. She was very, claiming she needed
that information.  My attorney informed me that this company needs to legally send me a letter representing BofA.

For the last 3 days in a row, I have received a phone call within 5 minutes of 8:00 p.m. from 800-933-6004.  We have let it go to our answering machine, and when it does, the call is disconnected.  The only account I have with Chase is a new (opened 3 months ago) auto loan that is not delinquent.  Research that I have done about this number seems to indicate that it's associated with Chase, and used not only for collections, but also for telemarketing.  Since we're only getting 1 call a day, I will try to head it off by simply not answering.  Maybe they'll give up.

I got 4 calls today (Saturday 19 Jan, 2008) from this number 800-424-5004, I didn't answer but each time they left a partial message on the answering machine that starts off with what sounds like a marching band drumbeat (I guess it's their hold music) then someone with an Indian accent mispronounces my name and saying hello? Hello? as if I had called them. Stupid. One of the messages sounded like an automatick English speaking male voice saying "Please Hold for our next available operator".

I got 4 call on a sunday morning starting at 8am, not to mention the other calls in previous days. I did miss a couple of payments on my Chase account, but I did send them missed payments, will it stop this calling?
Is it illegal to answer phone with profane laguage, or really loud music?
Because I could tell them a few things that would make them wish they weren't alive.

I have this EXACT problem!!! Thing is,they(Chase)have been able to still harrass us by using a program to bypass our blocked number list, and now it seems they're using phone spoofing techniques to appear they are calling from a local number, usually a dead cell number.

Chase must be upset we used a dept consolidation loan to pay OFF most of our dues,LOL!!!

GEEEE,They get their money, and still harrass their clients,I say we need to start a class action suit!!!

For the past few days I have been plagued with dozens of calls from 800-424-5004. No message is ever left. I ended up forwarding their calls to a Domino's Pizza in West Palm Beach FL. I showed my friend the call logs and we both had a good laugh. He then told me it might be against some FCC Regulation to do that. So I just forward the number right back to its self. And looking at my call logs they have been making phone calls before 9AM. Last I herd it is illegal to call a residents for business before 9AM and after 9PM. Sounds like a class action suit waiting to happen.

Barbara,
The next time they call, give them the name of your attorney and tell them to stop calling you. If they persist, he can file suit against them for violation of FDCPA laws:

§ 1692c. Communication in connection with debt collection:

Without the prior consent of the consumer given directly to the debt collector or the express permission of a court of competent jurisdiction, a debt collector may not communicate with a consumer in connection with the collection of any debt—

(2) if the debt collector knows the consumer is represented by an attorney with respect to such debt and has knowledge of, or can readily ascertain, such attorney’s name and address, unless the attorney fails to respond within a reasonable period of time to a communication from the debt collector or unless the attorney consents to direct communication with the consumer....

Usually in your application/acceptance forms you're signing an agreement for them to harass you until you pay them should you ever be late on your bills...

Not necessarily good advice. If you are deep in unpaid bills and threaten them with an attorney, they are much more likely to just turn around and sue you first.  For people looking to get out of the hole they are in - DO NOT threaten the collectors - if they are calling between 8am and 9pm - unfortunately they are working within the law.  If they are calling you at work, you can ask them to stop and legally they have to.

If they are calling work still or calling outside of those hours - keep a record. Document every phone call!  You can very often take them to court and get $$$ if they break those laws. But it has to be documented.

And for all those who say they are closing their accounts - don't. You are only hurting your own credit score. Just don't use the card at all.

And why are some people saying the # doesn't belong to Chase when everyone else is saying it does?

I missed a payment with Chase because I lost my job and had to let some bills go - specifically the unsecured ones. Chase raised my interest rate from 6.99% to 29.99% making the bill now impossible to pay, even if I was still working. I have talked numerous times with various people at Chase about the problem I am in. Finally they have offered to take 25 cents on the dollar and call it even. But can I get these phone calls to stop? NO! I wonder if bankruptcy will stop the calls?

I think they're calling from Dish Network or maybe they're an outsourced collection agency. I'm late on a few bills and they call me at least 10 times a day and different times of the day each day.

They'll get paid when I get paid...
