Second call from this number in 2 days - blank vm left both times.  When I call back, the recording says I've "reached the insurance division" but no idea who that is as no company name is mentioned.  When I look it up, all I'm able to find on Google is a Pennsylvania document dealing with Countrywide.  No clue.

This is a call from Wachovia or now Wells Fargo looking for information on a car that was insured under the number they called.

In my case, they still needed proof of coverage for my loan.

They are in Pennsylvania so that would explain the document Maureen found.

They might have misdialed your number or maybe someone gave a wrong number on a loan.

I believe this is a legitimate number

Called 10:1116 AM 10 Aug 2010, left message.
Caller cliams to need proof of insurance coverage to cover cars financed by Wells Fargo.  Sounds suspicious since we own all our cars outright (and have for a few years now) and never had a loan with Wells Fargo (or Wachovia that they swallowed up).  We've  had our number just under 10 years so not a case of previous number ower.  They say call 800-358-6805 to respond.

This is not a scam or a collection agency calling.

It is WellsFargodealerservices calling and in my case they needed proof of insurance information on a recent vehicle purchase.  When I provided her with the policy # she was able to look up with the company and confirm that my insurance broker had the wrong lender listed as lien holder and they were able to send a correction request from their end directly to the insurance company.

As a note, I have had a previous car loan and at that time they were called WachoviaDealerServices so some of you may know them under that name instead.

this is BAC HOME LOANS SERVICING LP. it is a call center. they call the insurance company I work for, to try to verify insurance coverage on home loans. It may also be WELLS FARGO DEALER SERVICES, basically they are just trying to verify insurance coverage on vehicles or homes they have loaned money on.

CAUTION:  This caller appears to be part of a phishing scam.  I'm disturbed at how many people on this web site have given out their information.

The recorded message claimed to be Bank of America's insurance department.  It said they did not have current insurance info, and gave the number 877-809-0146, asking that we give them current insurance info and our insurance agent.  It also gave a fax number of 866-619-5984.

**** Bank of America confirmed that they don't use automated calls like this (they send a letter), and phishing scams like this are so common, they don't keep track of them. ****

If you gave these guys information, you should be prepared for further problems, and you should inform the companies that have been phished.

Carguy, This phone number was recorded on my calls received yesterday but they did not leave a message. I have never done business with Wachovia or Wells Fargo. Today I received another call with a message from Sarah at Bank of America Insurance Services Department (701-301-4001) stating they audited my file and did not find evidence of insurance on my "structure", to call the Department as soon as possible at 877-809-0146 with certain personal information or to fax the information to 866-619-7488. I have never conducted any business with Bank of America and all the numbers above appear to be frauds/not legit. Several days before that I received a call from 301-223-0073. Information found on them indicates they are asset acceptance, which is a boiler plate scam collection agency that attempts to intimidate you into giving them personal information. I do not have any debts therefore they are also a scam. I believe you have been duped into a pshing scam and may want to take measures to protect your personal information and holdings from identity theft or fraud.

MS, I don't buy any of this bs for a second. I have never conducted business with BAC or Bank of America or Wells Fargo and I am a grandfather with grown children. Another post claims they are with Wachovia! Our mortgage will be paid off in two months, both vehicles are paid for, and we have no other debt. Bank of America Insurance Services Department "audited" my account and wants me to call them or fax them personal information including my account number and policy number about insurance on my "structure" to different numbers from which they called from. None of the numbers are traceable to any of the businesses you list. They don't even know what type of "structure" I supposedly have this insurance, what my policy number is, or what my account number is they supposedly audited. They also didn't even know my name or my wifes name since we have an unlisted number. They have been reported! My question is are you and the other poster claiming this is legit part of this psishing scam? If so, I hope they catch you and your partner and throw the book at both of you!

Jack, just as I stated in a post above, they hit me with the same info and request. I also believe there are some scum on this site attempting to make them appear legit. That may be an extension to sucker some gullible, but cautious individuals to make contact with their numbers. Funny how they supposedly audited my account, but don't know my account number, the insurance policy number, the type of "structure" we have insurance on, our address, or even my or my wifes names because we have an unlisted number! LEGITIMATE COMPANIES NEVER ASK FOR SUCH INFORMATION OVER THE PHONE OR THE INTERNET! IT IS A PSHING SCAM!

    PHISHING SCAM
    . . . with a nice, formal, female voice.

ANY SUCH REQUEST TO VERIFY INSURANCE FOR ANY LOAN WILL COME VIA US MAIL AND PROVIDE AN OFFICIAL PHONE NUMBER OR WEBSITE ADDRESS ("IHAVEINSURANCE.COM") WITH THE STIPULATION THAT YOUR INSURANCE COMPANY MUST FOLLOW UP WITH A "HARD COPY." IT IS YOUR INSURANCE COMPANY'S RESPONSIBILITY TO UPDATE ANY LOAN COMPANY WITH PROOF OF INSURANCE COVERAGE ON A LOAN.

For example, GMAC sent me a letter stating that my new mortgage needed proof that I had hazard insurance on my home an that they were named as a "loss payee." All that was needed was for my insurance agent to update my policy with the loan number and forward a copy to GMAC.

I answered, but nobody responded.  This number called several times but leaves no voicemail.  If this is official business, they would leave a legitimate message and their reasons for calling.  I have blocked this number through my phone company.

They have called many times, but only left 1 voice mail message.  The message said they were with Ocwen (formerly GMAC) and my insurance information has been updated, and I need to call back to confirm.  TOTAL PHISHING SCAM.  Thanks for the tip Eduardo, to use Verizon to get it blocked!
