Have been receiving phone calls from 1-800-443-3012 a Mr Greenhand or Greenham from a collection agency called National Action Financial Svc.   I don't have any unpaid debts in collection.  I was curious so I called the number to question why they were calling our home, making sure it wasn't a fraud.  I asked for Mr Greenhand/Greenham they told me he was off today... Hmmm sure.  They were very rude and slammed the phone and hung up on me after informing them that I had done a research on there 800 number.  Also, that it was not a valid business and the reports to the FCC for harassing people.  They were pretty upset!!  Does anyone know how to get them from calling your home?

This number called twice in one day. Mrs. Hand on machine said she mailed and has tried to contact "you" on several occasions. She had a rude voice. We have no debt as well, but we do receive legitmimate calls for a married couple that still gives out our number, so I am always not sure if I should call them back at all. This is obviously one of those numbers that wants you to call and press numbers on your phone so that they can steal your telephone number. 10:59 a.m.

Mrs. Hand called me said that she has left several messages for me and we need to call this number back right away.  But it doesn't say that the message is for anyone.  Then a Mr. flunde or something like that says that it is a message for me and my ex-husband who has never lived at this number.  and that this is an urgent message about a time sensitive debt.  I am glad that I checked it out before calling them back.  I won't call them back now.

I number of calls from this number in the past 2-3 weeks, the latest being 8/29/07, advising they were a collection agency, and that they were calling on a debt of an oil company, as a result of a transaction in Dec, of 1996, and that it was just a small amount, like $39.60 and that I should pay it, and not be further bothered.  The strange thing was, we don't have any oil, or service station in this area of that name, and we have never had a gasoline charge card.  Wish that the FAA would shut this outfit down.

I called the attorney general's office in my state and they handled it. They did a three-way conference and and I got to talk to Mr. Greenham.  The collection agency was looking for the fellow that used to live in our house. He apologized for the calls and said that they would stop.  The AG's office told me that collection agencies do this quite often as a way to skip trace people.  I recommend calling your attorney general's office.

    Very frustrated
We keep getting a pre-recored call from a Curt Roberts saying that they have been trying to contact us regarding a debt collection.  We haven't recieved anything from any of our own companies, like Credit cards, Utilities, etc, saying that we have missed any payments or have been turned in to a collection agency.  They have called SEVERAL times in the last few days.  It's only 11:43am here today and they have already called me twice!

We just got a rude phone call from Gary Marshall at 1-800-443-3012.  He said something about "You agreed to settle this matter, don't take advantage...."  I did an internet search using the telephone number and found your posting.  I am so glad you posted, now I don't have to waste my time calling the number back and dealing with rude people.  Who knows what other names they are using.  Thanks for posting.

Also for the past couple weeks or so, have been getting these rude phone calls from Gary Marshall at 1-800-443-3012 at work, possibly for one of our employees?  He, too said something about "You agreed to settle this matter, don't take advantage...." and also found this message board via google.  Yes, and I agree that they seem suspicious.  Thanks all, for posting.

    Annoying calls...

Keep getting calls/voice messages of the same recording from a Gary Marshall several times a day. This morning, I got it 3 times between 8am - 10am. It is VERY annoying. He says the following...

"I need your attention. We want to verify that the opportunity to resolve this manner in the correspondence that we have sent you will not be taken advantage of. Again, this is not a solicitation call. Please call the office of Gary Marshall and the number to my office again is 1-800-443-3012."

The strange thing is... I have not been sent anything. The strange thing is, I recorded their number (716-650-6240) previously from a person claiming to be from Visa Associates trying to collect a debt. When I told them that I don't owe them anything, I started getting the same call later on from someone who keeps leaving the above repeated recording from a "Gary Marshall".

Wow... I'm glad I researched this before call before returning it.  I received that exact same message this morning on my cell's voice mail-- "We want to verify that the opportunity to resolve this manner in the correspondence that we have sent you will not be taken advantage of. Again, this is not a solicitation call. Please call the office of Gary Marshall and the number to my office again is 1-800-443-3012" I thought the "will not be taken advantage of" sounded off, the fact my name was not used suspect, and the whole thing suspicious.  Now not only do I see it was a scam (thanks, y'all!) BUT I also see that the mystery number 716-650-6240, which came up as a missed call/no message on my cell, is also part of a scam.

Ughhh, I hope they stop calling.

I have been getting calls like this at my work #. when I looked up the # I saw this website, This is so wrong to keep calling a work #, I do not have any debts so I do not know why they would call me. The # on the caller id is different from the # that they are asking you to call

All you have to do to get your number removed is call the number.. say that you do not know the debtor, and that the number is wrong.  Your number will indeed be removed.  It's not difficult.  By not calling back, your number -will- stay in the automatic dialer system.  It's not the problem of National Action Financial Services if someone had your current telephone number 10 years ago, and it's still on file.. and you unfortunately acquire it.

Also, NAFS gets many threats of being reported to the Better Business Bureau, or being sued for harassment.

    1) Don't wait months until you become annoyed so much to call and start screaming in the phone for no reason.. nicely call in and get your number removed.

    2) NAFS resigned from the BBB so threatening with the BBB is pointless.

    3) If you ask to be transferred to a supervisor.. it won't do any good because you'll be transferred to the person sitting next to the person you're talking to.  Just hang up.

Both numbers are a scam; also threatening calls, "you have a violation" from National Action (also a collection agency.) Yes it is a scam connected with Calvary Collection agency which has a number of offices. Since Calvary, National and the folks behind this "Gary Marshall" collector are in New York State (716 area code) you can make an official complaint to the Attorney General of NYS. Interestingly since they are harassing you and probably calling your neighbors, thus impunning your reputation you can file a suit against them. Keep a record. day date time person and as much of the message as possible.

"National Action" is extremely threatening. I think "Gary Marshall" uses the "National Action" collection person first then when he speaks with you he threatens "you don't want to deal with National Action." A classic bait & switch. The ethnicity of both the National Action person & Gary Marshall is very clear from the language and speech patterns of recorded or live messages.

Another interesting thing is that Calvary purchases debt at between .001 to .09 on the dollar (Business Week article interviewing the then President of Calvary)Then tries to collect the original amount plus interest plus fees.

The Democrats can pick about 5,000,000 votes by simply introducing and passing a bill in the House of Representatives (money bills begin in the House) which limits a collection agency to collecting no more than two times (that is twice) what the collection agency paid for the debt. And making certain that it is grandfathered to include current indebtedness.

These collection agencies are continually selling their debts to other units of their own companies or to other collection agencies. Adding fees and interest each time. Then the seller "writes" off the full amount of the inflated debt which was sold less what they paid for that debt. Thus receiving a huge tax credit. Nice. Then they purchase the debt back, after a year or two, from the company they sold the debt to; and process begins again. All at an original purchase price of between .001 to .09 on the dollar of debt.
