These people are becoming even more aggressive with their tactics; now they are hanging IMPORTANT NOTICE on doors and advising you to call the same 1-800 #. Always some B S going on that you don't need when youre already dealing with issues of importance.  How do we stop this solicitation?  They want SS # and all the other personal info we have beeen discouraged from giving someone over the telephone

twice disreputable-looking (dirty, unkempt, rather older cars) people have showed up at our door while I was a work and husband at home, said they wanted us to call a number. I was a month behind on the mortgage...but would certainly expect a call or letter from Chase, not this....very odd.

Number came to me in a brown envelope placed on my front door by a dirty guy in a old beat up car. Called the number just for fun and a recording said it was CHASE. Did not go any further as they wanted a portion of a account number. Could be a scam. I have contacted the police with the license plate number from the car.

I opened my front door and a piece of folded paper fell to the ground. It had on it Urgent! Please contact us immediately. with the number 800-446-8939.  I am in St. Petersburg, Florida. I am going to check with neighbors to see if they got it too. I am also going to report it to the police and going to contact Chase through another number and ask them about this. Maybe someone is using their name to try and get people to give them their account number. Strange thing is how would they know if the home they leave the message on is someone who has a chase account?

I wished I could have seen someone leaving this on my door.

3-24-10 Joliet, IL.  Got the same manila colored envelope on the door of our rental home.  Tried the number and put in a bunch of random numbers for an account number, but it didn't work.  Looks like a scam.

This is a valid Chase number.  Honest. Chase has been helping me since November 2009.  This is their 800# for their Homeowner's Assistance Dept.  I have a letter from Chase with all of their info and have been under a Forbearance Plan with them.  This is the info on their letter and where I was making my payments which have come off my mtg. loan.
Try called it and you will see for yourself.

that number does belong to chase home finance and yes if they cannot contact you over the phone and you are behind in your mortgage they will be trying to get a hold of you to find out whats wrong and if you need assistance with your mortgage. you do need to give the last 4 of your social to verify that you are the person for security purpose once you have verified your mailing and phone numbers

also by what i was explained due date is on the first of each month and yes it is in our billing statement if payment is not in the system by the first or before it is considered late but they do not apply the late charges until after the 16th it does make sense hopefully this helps everyone it did help me understand the process

and yes if you are one of those that send thru the mail 3 days before the 16th of each month you will get the late charge its common sense postal service does take 8-10 days for it to arrive i have tested it now and its true

We are behind on our mortgage with Chase so when I saw this I assumed it was them. I called the actual number for the Chase collection department and she assured me that this is a valid Chase number. She said if you`re behind on your mortgage they may do a "drive by" and may take pictures of the exterior of your home to make sure its livable. But yes, it is Chase. I`m guessing the people who drop theem look so grubby because they don`t have to worry what they look like for work!

We also received an "Important Notice" hung on our door knob. Scary thing is they came thru a locked gate and hung it on a door we do not use. We were home and they didn't bother to knock. Isn't that trespass? We will send this Important Notice to our attorney.
