We get a call from this number about every 7 to 10 days.  Say they are looking for _________ and that they gave our number as a reference. After double checking we learned that our phone number has never been used for this purpose.

Caller got real mad when I asked why they kept calling our number.

    They are heartless.

Associated Recovery Systems is a collection agency located in Escondido, California, but also has satellite offices and affiliates around the United States. Specifically, Associated Recovery Systems is affiliated with ARS National Services Inc. and Cavalry Portfolio Services. Associated Recovery Systems attempts to collect debts which have become delinquent such as credit card or deficiency auto loans.

If the Associated Recovery Systems collection agency is harassing you about an overdue account, then they probably are reporting negative credit on your credit reports. Specifically, this type of bad credit may appear as a "Bad Debt Collection" or "Charge Off." These notations will lower you credit score and may keep you from getting approved for new credit such as a new car loan or mortgage.

Fortunately there is a way to resolve your credit problems with collection agencies like Associated Recovery Systems. One way to do this is to dispute the accuracy of the collection items with the credit bureaus. There are also more aggressive techniques which involve disputes with the collection agencies themselves.

It often takes knowledge and experience to execute these techniques successfully.  See FDCPA and FCRA

Today, I picked up the call from this number.  She told me
how much I owed on a credit card and that I needed to declare backruptch.  She then slammed the phone down in my ear.  They can't sue if you are receiving a dissability check or Social Security Retirement. Remember OJ.  He was sued for millions but they can't garnish a retirement check.

Called yesterday about 6:00pm. Wanted to know if I knew a particular person (family member), but used my maiden name when calling. Said it was for a reference. When I asked some questions, they said they could not give me any information. Is it a collection agency for the person they were looking for? How did they get our number?

My company received 3 calls from Jennifer at ARS on 4/25/08 in an attempt to contact one of our employees.  When asked what the call was regarding, Jennifer was extremely abusive to the owner of my company and another of our employees.  This abuse included screaming, swearing and slamming down the phone in their ears.  I cannot believe a company would think it is okay to employ people with such bad and unprofessional manners.

Collection agency calling my house looking for my wife (the phone is listed under her) concerning my brother. The lied to me about how the got my information and became very defensive when I asked who they were and became very rude when I told them not to call my house again, telling me that they have my wife's parents phone number and that they would just call that and hung up on me.

When I called to complain they transfered me to the "supervisor" who was equally rude if not more rude to me, he then told me we had nothing further to talk about and hung up on me. I called back again, got the same "supervisor" again who told me that I was calling his office and escalading the situation. When I pointed out to him that his company had called my house and was rude to me to begin with he hung up on me.

This company is a real class act, I plan on calling the bank they were calling in behalf of and making a complaint.

I just received a call from 800-456-5053 and a voicemail message was left from a "Tobey" from ARS. He wanted to talk to me regarding an "escalating situation" at ext. 1482. I dont know If it might be related to a call I received on 09/08/2008 at approximately 2:05 p.m from an "888" number. An Indian speaking man by the name of Simon McKenzie left me a voicemail informing me or my attorney of record to immediately contact them at 408-215-3856 or else they were wishing me good luck. I immediately called them perplexed because of the voicemail he left me. A Jeff Wilson answered (with the same Indian accent that I could hardly understand) informing me that he was "Simon McKenzie's" assistant. He also informed me that tomorrow (9/9/08) at 11:00 a.m.; officers would be picking me up to go to court because of an unpaid payday loan from 2006. He stated I never paid toward the interest and I now owed
$1, 284.20. He said if I went to court, the due amount would increase to $5,384.87. I asked him if anything was sent to me regarding any of the claims that they were making and he said that I was emailed thirteen (13) times. I checked my email and I had never received emails from "Sonic Cash Management Bank".
He said I probably deleted the messages. I asked him that I needed something in writing to verify the information that he was telling me. He said that he could not give me a copy of the Affidavit because it was against the law. I told him that loan was already paid. The man was giving personal information and for a moment I did think that maybe somehow I did not read the contract or misread part of the contract. He then asked me how was I going to get out this legal mess and If I had any priors. I was terrified and confused. So I asked him what my options were. He then offered me an "Out of Court Restitution". He said he would need to put me on hold and that he would need to contact the company to see if they were willing to settle out of court. About two (2) minutes later, he came back on the line and informed me that the company was willing to settle but I was required to pay 80% of the due amount. He asked that I pay $1,027.0 with a Debit, Credit Card or the prepaid Credit Cards and I only had one (1) hour and twenty (20) minutes to do so. He also demanded that I write an apology letter to Sonic Cash Management Bank wishing to apologize for not making the payments on time and that I wish to make arrangements to pay, to ensure that I sign the letter and fax it to (949)613-8399. He then said I had 20 days to pay the remaining balance of $275.85.  I told him that I would have to call him back. I immediately contacted Sonic Payday Loans and explained the phone I had just received. The representative informed me that they do not operate under Sonic Cash Management Bank. They only operate under Sonic or Sonic Payday and they would not call demanding all of the above. She emailed me a letter stating that I had a zero (0) balance with their company. I then attempted to contact "Jeff" again and another Indian accent answered the phone stating "Jeff was in a meeting with an attorney and would have to call me back. I felt uneasy and I decided to contact my local police department and explained the situation. The officer informed me that even If the claim was valid, I needed to be served by a sheriff, marshal or a valid claim process server, in which I never received. I explained to her that I have documentation that the debt was paid in 2006. The officer actually called the number that "Jeff Wilson" gave me to call him back when I had the payment method and letter ready at (408) 215-3856. I was able to hear the conversation because the officer picked up another phone. The officer was asking him that what they were doing was illegal; when an individual owes money to a company, it’s a civil case and the authorities would never get involved unless to serve paperwork. The officer then asked him what police department was going to pick me up and what court I needed to be in and he was unable to answer that question. The officer tried to obtain an address and they were unable to give that information out. The officer then suggested that we meet at that police station to see what was going on. He just claimed that they were a "Legal Processing Unit" and could not do that. The officer asked him why had I not been properly served and he said that he had emailed me thirteen (13) times. The officer responded that is not the correct procedure to serve a person.  He just continued saying that I needed to pay that amount or an officer would be picking me up to take me to court and that I would be charged with check fraud and theft by deception. The officer informed him that she was going to let me know if anyone showed up, to immediately call 911 and let them know that there are people impersonating a police officer. He then hung up. The officer assured me that it was a scam and not to pay them anything. I have not been able to sleep thinking about this horrible ordeal. I hope you can use this in any way.

received another call from this number today.  DEMANDING that my step-daughter call IMMEDIATELY.  the man was very forcefull..called twice. My step-daughter has not lived here in 15 years, since she was about 14 years old,  and certainly would not give this number as a reference. This place uses sites like "People Finders" and look up any name or number that has ever been connected with you, then they hound the "heck" out of those people in the hope that they will get lucky.  They are very rude and there has to be a way to stop the harrassment.

Almost every day someone calls my cell phone looking for Henry.  (I'm not Henry. Never have been.)

Today they called from 800-456-5053, but the other day the phone number just said 0000000000. The caller was belligerent, asking all sorts of personal information about me and Henry. I gave her nothing, and when I said I didn't even know Henry she said, "That doesn't sound very believable" and hung up.

She hung up! What kind of collection agency is this? They give up rather easily.

Yes, the give up very, very easy because what they do is not legal.
Ask them a question---they hang up.
Tell them you record ---they hang up
Try to find out their address---they hang up.
They impersonate law enforcement, attorneys and government officials--all not legal. They are scams preying on fears of unknowing people. The real truth is, even if it is a ledit. debt but out of the statute of limitations, they can do nothing but call. If it is in the limitations, wait for a summons in writing. These people will never send you one because the are scams.
