james29 Mar 2007This number is calling my business line non-stop. I don't usually look at the caller id before answering, and every time get silence when I answer their calls. Finally a live person was there when I picked up. He said he is from Bank of America calling to offer me their credit card! I told them to stop calling. Regardless they called again the very next day. I am reporting them.- We get 4-5 calls a day from this number with a dead line on the other end. I called back today and was put on hold be a recorded voice. I waited about 2 minutes before thinking to myself "Is it possible for an 800 number to actually be a toll call like one of those pay-by-the-minute 900 numbers?" So just in case I hung up. Who knows... I'll look into it.
- I've been getting regular calls from them as well...most of the time there is no one there and I get a click. I was in a particularly good mood and made sure that there was sound on the line until a live person picked up. I cranked up the Springsteen. She asked for me by name. I said "Yeah, what's up?" and cranked the music further. She eventually hung up. I guess Springsteen isn't her favorite.
- I'm pretty sure I figured out why noone ever answers... I keep getting these calls too and when I answer the phone there is noone there. Today however, instead of my normal business greeting I answered the phone with a somewhat brusk "HELLO". Someone said hello right back. I immediately asked why noone ever answers when they call me. She didn't know.
Here is my theory...backed up by the way I answered the phone today. I believe this phone number uses a program that tries to determine if a voice mail or a real person answers the phone when they call. If they think it is voice mail they don't transfer it to one of their representatives. If they think it is a live person (you) then they do transfer it to a live person who immediately starts to pitch you on a Bank of America Business Credit Card.
I normally answer my business phone with a long greeting that identifies my company name and me. I have been told I sometimes sound like a voice mail...but it is me in person.
We'll see if they call back again...but if they do I will answer with "Hello" again and then give them a piece of my mind. Hope this clears up why they don't answer and are driving us all crazy!!!!!~ - I have received several calls from this number as well, the last time they called I told the girl on the line if I received one more call from a telemarketer I was going to kill myself, the I proceeded to ask her if she really wanted to be responsible for that. So far they have not called back. Also, once I did a test. A telemarketar called from a credit card company and asked for the business decision maker so I made up a name and just said oh that would be Bob, but he's not in. With in days I had several other companies calling and asking for Bob. They are relentless, even as I'm writing this I just received another telemarketing call. ughhhhhh!

first of all, business lines are exempt fromt he do not call registry, as is anyone with a preexisting business connectuion to the company who is performing the call.
secondly, all call centers use predictive dialers, which means that the computer autodials more numbers than representatives available which obviously means that occasionally there will be more answers than available representatives. thus, the 'silence' upon answering. and yes, this is legal.
third, every business outsources to other countries. get real it's 2008 no one wants to pay 7.50 an hour to an american union member when they can get someone in india to do it for a miniscule fraction of that amount. it's not unpatriotic, its free market economics.
if you are the business owners of america, dont blame bush or anyone else for the shite economy, blame your incompetent selves for not even understanding the laws of this country.

- donna6 Apr 2007i answer the phone today they asked for "Robert". when i asked which one, the repeated the name and i said "yeah i know, but which one i have two here with that name." when i asked who was calling the girl hung up. if this is bank of america i'm going to report them for repeated phone calls.

- Glen9 Apr 2007Yess, calling me as well on my home line. I am listed on the 'national do not call registry', so I'll report them. If it wasnt BOA I wouldnt bother but I hate those guys, they are the epitome of "Bad Coporate Americs". They are outsourcing their telemarketing outside the US, giving credit cards to illegal aliens and uses predatory prictices, however they are a major Lobby and Political donor so they skirt the law. And on top of all that, they won't cash one of their own checks when I go to their bank and they try to get me to set up an account to do so. I'd sooner shred the check. Bastards!!

I'm not going to answer that's why I have machine that tells you that...so why would you say HELLO after knowing I'm not answering? Do they not listen?
