I kept receiving messages from this number asking for a call back. They said it was the regional office of Stats Canada and gave their hours of operation (for 7 days a week). They did not ask for anyone by name, just left a "file number" which struck me as being a London, Ontario phone number! I tried calling back the 1-800 number a few times - it just went to voice mail and I did not leave a message. I tried again today and actually spoke to a person who asked if I knew what they were calling about! I said no and he asked for my name. I gave him only my first name, then he asked if I knew the person he named. I said no, I never heard of him (very strange he was asking about someone with the same surname as mine). He asked for my phone number so he would remove it from their system, so I did give that to him, although they obviously already had it! Just a totally strange call.

I experienced a phone call after government hours about life in the home survey I looked up everything it looks legit but is it please I need answers there r some personal questions that were answered nothing financial or anything just alot of questions about my family

Yes, it's another legitimate Statscan Survey. I received a mailer from them a few days ago apprising me that certain individuals have been selected for the survey.  Typically, the ID number they give you should reflect your home number they have in their system, or an older number you once had that requires updating.

But that number keeps calling every hour...

The number keeps calling multiple times but I never pick up.

I frequently get call from this number.Never answer the call.

About a week ago, I got a Statistics Canada mailing saying that my household had been selected to participate in the Canadian Community Health Survey.  It was credibly produced with government stationery, and included a brochure which gave this as the 1-800 number to call in Ontario, for more information.  It gave the name of a female employee who would be calling to book a survey interview appointment, with what I believe is the first name given by my caller yesterday (who asked me to call back, referencing a file #) and the info links seem to check out:  ie., this appears to be a legitimate StatsCan survey exercise.  Based on this, I will call the number back tomorrow, and accept being surveyed as long as I don't get any bad vibes about questions asked--and front and centre, no questions relating to finances, SIN, credit card numbers, or anything else that strikes me as phishing.

TL;DR  Tentatively, looks legit.  I'll post what I find out, later.

This number (and a few others) come up as from US and have been calling me almost every day. They claim to be from Statistics Canada and did send a mailing last week. I have to say it appears legit but my concern is, if so, why is Statistics Canada calling me from the United States??!!! It looks legit, but feels weird!

They also called from another number GOCGDC 800 263 3072 ALWAYS CALL AROUND 8 PM

We get numerous calls at various hours.  They won’t stop.

Sick of these calls at 9pm..saying they are the federal government..
what government department works past 5pm?

got a call at 6:30 and didnt know whether to hang up or not cuz il answer surveys for the hell of it, after 23 mins on the phone and the questions just getting more personal and personal i hung up, they called back twice and left a message asking for a call back and gave a case number

They ask a lot of question and some quite personal but they promise to keep the info confidential.  I was somewhat uncomfortable but felt that if no one answered their questions honestly there would be little hope of improvement in the healthcare system.
