Got a card in the mail, "It's been impossible to get in touch with you. Please call us at your earliest convenience Sincerely, American Scholarships 1-800-471-2310"

    American Scholarships has no website??

Got the same card. It's weird though. The note looks like it was handwritten and then photocopied onto every card. And on the front it says "Very important only notice" which makes no sense. Googling the address led me to a fictitious business name notice, although it was for a different "business". All in all, it definitely seems like a scam.

Continuing my google search, I found that the address is actually of a PostalAnnex store, where people can rent mailboxes. This just makes me even more sure that this is a scam.

this is the scam. what they do is give out all the same information to people dosent matter the race or gender for example  if you got info on a coco cola scholarship 100 people got the same thing but only 1 or 2 people get the scholarship know heres the truth, they are too dam lazy to go to every application to see what your majoring in the heck with that just give everyone the same scholarship information just to get 200 from every student. trust me i know. and her name is faith with the address on postal annex in temecula. know wouldn't you like to know what she's doing with your money.

We received the same card in Modesto, Ca.;  I'm glad we looked on line.  Very Strange but has anyone figured out what the scam is? How are they getting our kids names and addresses?

They (the scam artists) get your kid's names and addresses from the school!  Schools are required by law to give them out to anyone who asks for the list for business purposes.  Somewhere in all that first day paperwork you have to sign -- that by high school, you're probably not reading anymore -- but are instead just signing on the "you know that they're have to be good in chem lab" line, you signed that they could give it out.  We should all try to get this law changed!!!!!!!!!!! The Schools don't like it either. Its work for them and we don't like giving it out.

Got my card today for my son who is a sophmore.  It was sent to my old address in Texas.  I now live in Virginia.  I decided to go to their website to see if they were legitimate.  Well obviously it was not.  Next step was to check it out on the Better Business Bureau website.  Well lo and behold they have a big fat "F" rating.  Not only that but they have 4 different addresses.  This is a company that is preying on people who  they can take advantage of.  This is a total scam.

I got this and was thrilled. Before I went to call I wanted more information and looked for a website but found this. Thank god i did!! Its really heartbreaking because im a freshman and I really want to go to a good school like stanford but its expensive..... I guess theres more scholarhips out there and hopefully if i ever get one again, its for real that time!

I thinks it's a scam. From what I am reading, they get you to pay for the service and they "find your child a scholarship"....only it seems they don't completely inform you that the scholarship has to be qualified for and most likely your child wont receive. they are doing the "legwork" of finding scholarships, but not individually....in mass for everyone. I wouldn't trust it.

Well, I don't know whether it's true or not. But if I have to PAY for a BOOK of scholarships, I'd rather go to my guidance counselor or search through the internet. I'm pretty disappointed about this, too. I'm from RI and I got it today. But I'm glad I found this too. If you want scholarships, just go to scholarship.com , there's plenty! Now I have a scholarship and will most likely get this other one I applied for. Good luck to people trying for scholarships!

I received this a couple weeks ago and my mom called and comfirmed to attend the orientation. They sent another postcard telling me where it was going to be held and today a man from California called confirming if I was going to attend and my mother said yes and the man said that this is very important and that many other students are waiting for this opportunity. Well when I got home to search for the directions for the orientation which is going to be held in Fall River, MA because they don't have one where I live which is Providence, RI. I lost the card and I tried searching for it on google and I found this and told my mom and she won't believe that it is a scam but my father thinks it was pretty weird that they don't give any type of information of what is going to be said there. Well I ended up convincing my mom and she seems pretty mad because she thinks I'm wrong. I wish people didn't waste my time with dumb scams. Thanks for all this great information.
