Got a card in the mail, "It's been impossible to get in touch with you. Please call us at your earliest convenience Sincerely, American Scholarships 1-800-471-2310"
Got the same card. It's weird though. The note looks like it was handwritten and then photocopied onto every card. And on the front it says "Very important only notice" which makes no sense. Googling the address led me to a fictitious business name notice, although it was for a different "business". All in all, it definitely seems like a scam.
Continuing my google search, I found that the address is actually of a PostalAnnex store, where people can rent mailboxes. This just makes me even more sure that this is a scam.
this is the scam. what they do is give out all the same information to people dosent matter the race or gender for example if you got info on a coco cola scholarship 100 people got the same thing but only 1 or 2 people get the scholarship know heres the truth, they are too dam lazy to go to every application to see what your majoring in the heck with that just give everyone the same scholarship information just to get 200 from every student. trust me i know. and her name is faith with the address on postal annex in temecula. know wouldn't you like to know what she's doing with your money.
My name is Ana Lynch. Yes, it is a mail box, so I investigated and that is the mailing address, the phisical address is in Murrieta, CA. I went there in person and used their services, so far I'm happy. I will keep you people inform.
I investigated and the address in the card is the mailing address. The office is located at 24630 Washington Ave. Suite 202 Murrieta, CA 92562. I used their service and I'm happy. I will let you people know if I get a scholarship.
Did you really get a scholarship? IS it a scam? I looked up the address you gave and it was for a group called Ameriprise Financial. I'm calling them at 951-894-5780 to see if it's true.
OMG I actually went to it. They had a seminar at the marriot in Tampa in june and my dad actually wanted to pay for it... we haven't herd from them since.....
We received the same card in Modesto, Ca.; I'm glad we looked on line. Very Strange but has anyone figured out what the scam is? How are they getting our kids names and addresses?
They (the scam artists) get your kid's names and addresses from the school! Schools are required by law to give them out to anyone who asks for the list for business purposes. Somewhere in all that first day paperwork you have to sign -- that by high school, you're probably not reading anymore -- but are instead just signing on the "you know that they're have to be good in chem lab" line, you signed that they could give it out. We should all try to get this law changed!!!!!!!!!!! The Schools don't like it either. Its work for them and we don't like giving it out.

ALSO THEY OFFER A FREE DIRECTORY OF PRIVATE SECTOR SCHOLARSHIPS DESIGNED EXACTLY FOR YOU, YES BECAUSE NONE OF THE COMPANIES BELOSNGS TO THE STATE WHERE YOU ARE LIVING IN, I HEAR THEY ARE TRAVELING STATE BY STATE AND THEY HAVE DIFFERENT DIRECTORIES DEPENDING WHERE THEY ARE OFFERING THE SERVICES
I received this same postcard yesterday in the mail addressed "to the parents of:" and then my daughters name. She is in high school. Anyway, we live in Tucson, AZ. Just thought I'd let everyone know they are sending it to folks that live outside of CA, and yes, although I am White/caucasion, my daughter has an hispanic last name because her father is Mexican.
yeah i am l iving in Louisiana and I have received the same card...white with a stamp saying it was impossible to get in touch with me(REALLY WASNT) and so on with a fishy address in baton rouge i was so excited that I! got this and i just think its sad to try to scam innocent obviously concerned students out of money when we are already scrapping to pay for college expenses...well anyway the way i really found out is when my friend somehow got on the subject of this and i was like yeahhhh i got the same thing so thats what led me to research this and im just glad i didnt go to the meeting
well i had gotten a card, and it was for my son, we at frist was happy, that we got it , then when i was trying to get info on it , nothing at all,. I hope they get them, because my son was unhappy about it.
i got this exact same thing in the mail. all my information was correct about me. but the thing is i live in texas. and this is frm temecula california. how tht get all the way to me. wtf??
got the same card for my Sophmore aged son. contacted the high school and they said that it is a service you can buy to supposedly locate scholarships, but they also said that 9 out of 10 people that used them never saw any actual scholarship money.
Just got the same "to the parents of" postcard today and couldn't find a website for "American Scholarships" either, but happy to have found this blog that told me they want to SELL me a book of scholarships. Your post says 9 out of 10 don't find a scholarship.
Another blog post says "Florida is next" - they're here!
Yes we went yesterday and the person who offer the meeting was very nervous when we start to ask questions about the company. IT IS A SCAM DON'T PAY THOSE 249.00 we been ripped off 5 years ago same way but there were 759 dollars and they didn't do anything!!Spread the word!!!
WHAT IM GOING TO DO IS, GO TO THE MEETING, ACT NORMAL AS IF I AM CONVINCED. THEN WHEN IT'S TIME TO PAY, WELL LETS JUST SAY THEY GOING TO END UP LOSING MONEY..... REMEMBER, DON'T TRY TO HUSTLE A HUSTLER, AND I KNOW MOST OF US HAVE JOBS AND BILLS TO PAY,SO EVERYDAY WE HUSTLE.
Got my card today for my son who is a sophmore. It was sent to my old address in Texas. I now live in Virginia. I decided to go to their website to see if they were legitimate. Well obviously it was not. Next step was to check it out on the Better Business Bureau website. Well lo and behold they have a big fat "F" rating. Not only that but they have 4 different addresses. This is a company that is preying on people who they can take advantage of. This is a total scam.
No kidding! I got one in the mail from my kid and we live in FL., the funny thing is she's already in her second year of college. Why didn't it come from her school, we called the school and they said they never heard of it.

THIS COMPANY SHOLD CLOSED DOWN FOR GOOD. BUSINESS SUCKS AND THEY SEND FAKE SCHLARSHIP SOURCES TO THE SAME PEOPLE. IT IS FRAUD SO BAD YOU DONT EVER KNOW.
This is completely unfair and wrong!!!! I got one yesterday and i was super excited because the one thing that i would absolutely love to happen to me for college is to get a scholarship. I got this and was thrilled. Before I went to call I wanted more information and looked for a website but found this. Thank god i did!! Its really heartbreaking because im a freshman and I really want to go to a good school like stanford but its expensive..... I guess theres more scholarhips out there and hopefully if i ever get one again, its for real that time!
You people are so wrong, and really scared me, all the companies provided by American Scholarship are real and I’m applying for scholarships. Thank God I read your comments after I used the services with American Scholarship. This company provides a good service.

I thinks it's a scam. From what I am reading, they get you to pay for the service and they "find your child a scholarship"....only it seems they don't completely inform you that the scholarship has to be qualified for and most likely your child wont receive. they are doing the "legwork" of finding scholarships, but not individually....in mass for everyone. I wouldn't trust it.
I GOT THE POSTCARD, WENT TO THE SEMMINAR, PAID THE SERVICE, I'M GLAD I DID NOT LISTEN TO ALL THOSE NEGATIVE COMMENTS. I HAVE A SCHOLARSHIP THANKS TO THIS COMPANY.
Well, I don't know whether it's true or not. But if I have to PAY for a BOOK of scholarships, I'd rather go to my guidance counselor or search through the internet. I'm pretty disappointed about this, too. I'm from RI and I got it today. But I'm glad I found this too. If you want scholarships, just go to scholarship.com , there's plenty! Now I have a scholarship and will most likely get this other one I applied for. Good luck to people trying for scholarships!
I received this a couple weeks ago and my mom called and comfirmed to attend the orientation. They sent another postcard telling me where it was going to be held and today a man from California called confirming if I was going to attend and my mother said yes and the man said that this is very important and that many other students are waiting for this opportunity. Well when I got home to search for the directions for the orientation which is going to be held in Fall River, MA because they don't have one where I live which is Providence, RI. I lost the card and I tried searching for it on google and I found this and told my mom and she won't believe that it is a scam but my father thinks it was pretty weird that they don't give any type of information of what is going to be said there. Well I ended up convincing my mom and she seems pretty mad because she thinks I'm wrong. I wish people didn't waste my time with dumb scams. Thanks for all this great information.
