whoever these people are(collection agency?) called my neighbors looking for my husband re: an important business matter because they were "unsuccessful" trying to reach him!  Can you believe it? Now they're harrassing the neighbors.  I think this is illegal...who do I report it to?
How did they know who my neighbors are anyway?

They also called my neighbors and said they could not find my phone number. They never called me or left a message. My number is listed in the phone book. When I was talking to them they never even asked me for my phone nuimber. Is this company a real company? They said they are CCB. What does that Stand for and Where are they from?

Calling neighbors is not illegal except for a few states. If you answer the phone or return calls and speak to them normally you will not receive calls via neighbors.

Here is the deal...If they called your neighbors it's because they have left message after message with no return calls at your home phone..or they don't have your number...Now here is a clue...stop running...make contact with them and make arrangements. You can't hide OBVIOUSLY! Stop complaining and do the right thing..you spent there money with no problm now it's time to give it back. It wasn't a gift it was a loan on your word.

Gee E's Queen - you wouldn't happen to work for them would you???  Here's the deal on this side of the fence - they keep calling, but never leave any message whatsoever.  What's more, they've been calling for well over a month, but no letter has ever been sent.  FDCPA clearly states that a letter must be sent within the first 5 days of contact.  FDCPA also clearly states that a collector is to provide their correct name and company name when asked (items I've noticed other posters have complained about on boards and an employee on one of the boards even tried saying that it was "illegal" for them to identify their company name when asked - what a crock!!!)  Also, collection agencies are only allowed to call third parties (neighbors, family members, etc.) strictly for location information if they do not have contact information for the party they are trying to reach.  If you say that the company is calling neighbors because they've left msg after msg with no return calls at the correct party's phone number there's still no reason for them to call third parties because from the sounds of it, they already have the correct contact information and now they're just trying to harrass - which is ILLEGAL.  Now I have never heard of "CCB" being any kind of lender, so I don't know how anybody could owe CCB anything in the first place unless they're a JUNK DEBT BUYER - so really, I don't think these people (even if they do owe debt) spent CCB's money - what most likely really happened is they allegedly defaulted on some kind of loan (for whatever reason) and when the original creditor charged it off, CCB swooped in like a vulture and paid literally pennies on the dollar on a bad debt in the hopes of getting a huge profit.  If CCB was following FDCPA, they'd identify themselves and send a letter - something that a lot of posters (including myself) are not seeing them do and something that CCB is doing that is illegal.  If CCB is the rightful creditor for an account, there are plenty of legal avenues that they can choose to obtain their money - they aren't allowed to break federal and state laws just because they don't want to spend the money necessary to pursue legal action in order to get a bigger profit.  Follow the FDCPA and maybe more people would have more respect for your company and other collectors.

    information.
If you ask for the address and send them certified mail with a different contact method and tell the company to no longer contact your home number then it is illegal for them to call you at that number.  I would personally give them an address to send mail to.  They have to stop calling you within 48 hours of the receipt of the letter.  If they do call notify them you are logging each time they call and you have sent them notice not to contact you by phone and if they continue you will file harassment charges.  After a collection company makes contact with you on the phone for that day they normally don’t call again.  If you explain to them the situation and tell them what you can afford most creditors will work with you.

When I called them because I am the Power of Attorney they said they weren't sure they could discuss it with me and put me on hold and hung up on me!
