Got a message from 800-487-0396 last night from lady named Steff who said she was calling from Bank of America. The caller ID said "card services." I had a feeling it was legit because the day before had gotten a letter from BOA saying I had missed last month's payment on my credit card. Went online, saw it was true, and paid it. When I called the 800 # today, the customer service rep said my account was back in good standing and waived my $39 late fee.

wouldn't reveal what the call was about except to say "a personal matter" and when I told him we wouldn't call back unless we knew what it was about, he said it was about "card services". He also said his name was Jose and he gave a different number to call back than the one on caller ID.

The reason the caller ID shows a different number than what they ask you to call back on is because Caller ID only picks up the number on the phone the person is calling from. If you have ever worked in a call center every phone will have a different number for every associate. Most of the time when they give you a different number is because the group of associates that are calling you cannot accept incoming calls and therefore give you the inward calls department phone number.

I'm glad I decided to look this up. I got a call from an "Unknown" and they left me a message, so I decided to look it up and was directed here. If you guys are looking for some fun, call them back and mess around. I told them that my name was Peter Griffin, my SSN was 123-45-6789, and my bank card # was 4444-4444-4444-4444 (must begin with a 4 if it's a Visa or a 5 if it's a Mastercard). The operator did not take notice that 1) I used a Family Guy character for my name 2) the SSN looked suspicious, and 3) my bank card strangely had all 4's in it. They didn't even say anything about me taking this as a joke or prank calling them; I guess they have to sound professional or something. But in the end they said they would take my number off the list. If they were lying about that..... well I've got a whole bag of tricks up my sleeve.

I don't understand why everyone is so afraid of this company. This company is FIA Card Services. They handle many different bank credit cards, which is why they refer to themselves as card services as there is no specific bank they belong to and legally can't disclose any information to anyone who is not a card holder. If you call back you will see that they are calling with information regarding your personal credit card (hence the personal matter response) with a company they affiliate with.

they have called me for a week solid, but it comes up as "Unknown". When I called the number it asks for the last 4 digits of my card. Which card or company it doesn't say. Then they ask for my SSN!

Thank goodness I googled the #

Have received a call from this company twice and both times the message was to call back regarding an urgent matter concerning some existing business with them - yeah like I'm going to be making that call anytime soon.

If they're calling you telling you its urgent its because you haven't paid your account. Pay your account and you won't receive the call. Yes people, it's that simple.

Call came up as unknown on caller ID. She left a message saying she was with Bank of America and needed me to call back about, um, long pause... existing business. Thankfully I have gotten into the habit of checking unfamiliar phone numbers on Google. I won't be calling back.

I just got the same call (from 973-848-4300) and googled the phone number (as I usually do with unfamiliar numbers) and this came up.  Like everyone says, they dont explain why they are calling, they just say it's 'card services' regarding a personal business matter, and to call back 1-800-487-0396.  Whatever, I aint callin back!

I would recommend you call back because the fact that they are calling you means you haven't paid your credit card or they are calling you to offer a payment program because you can't and haven't been paying your account.

Card Services= Bank of America. The company has to go by Card Services. Many people aren't aware that their credit card accounts are owned by Bank of America, thats why they say card services. My advice is to pay your bills and you wont receive calls. If they are calling the wrong number, answer your phone and tell them- don't ignore the calls, they will keep calling!
