CBCS - a collection Agency. I asked them to stop calling but they said NO and continue to call.

I had looked this number up on the internet so I already knew it was a fake collection agency, but I called it back anyway just out of curiousity of what they would say.  I have excellent credit and have no real debt but a car loan, and some credit cards that I pay off in full every month, so who knows why they would pick me to call...

the very first thing the person said when I called the number was "don't hang up please" in an angry and demanding way.  how professional and un-sketchy is that?  I promptly hung up  :P

these people have been calling me for the last two weeks and left 5 or 6 messages, saying they are trying to gather information to collect on a debt.  Even though I don't have any real debts besides my school loans (which I am paying on time).  I never answer, but they keep calling me and leaving me messages.  argh!

I received a call from them on my cell phone looking for my ex-girlfriend from 17 years ago!  Talk about a wrong number....

I worked for CBCS for 2 years, and they are a legit company collecting on legit debts.  If you're getting a call, that's because either you have a debt, someone who used to have your number has a debt, or someone used your number as a contact number.  Plenty of the people at CBCS can be jerks on the phone, I know, but it's better to deal with the situation than to call, yell, and hang up.  If you're having trouble, ask for a supervisor.  The rules on the floor say that anyone who asks for a sup has to be transfered.

Today I received a "contact call" for Lia Guiteriz. These people are soooo rude. I average one call per month. And they don't care if it's day or night.They never ask for the same name twice. Is this the same company CBC? I called them back once from my land line, and he insisted I call him back from the phone number (cell) that they had called me on. Ha, fat chance. I called my phone company and tried to file a complaint. I was told to have the number traced (check with your phone company) CBC finally told me they "help people with personal problems" I won't even try to tell you what I said to him. Please, can't something be done? I have registered my home & cell numbers with the National Do Not Call List. It does not seem to be working with this company..

They call us once a week- we never answer.  They don't leave a msg.  We ignore it.  It's annoying but it is what it is....yuk.

I wonder what they would say if I said "yes, this is the person you want" I remember they once asked me for my account number, when I asked which account, he hung up. I think I will get a whistle and wait till they come on the line. I can't figure out how so many people give out my number. If anyone comes up with a solution, please share with the rest of us.

They keep calling my cell phone asking for a person I don't know.  I don't answer and 800 numbers.

Some lady called me several times on my cell phone (a voice recording)attempting to collect a debt, at first I ignored the calls as I dont owe money to anyone but I grew tired of the calls and called back the number she said she was from the Shell Enterprise and apologised and did not give any information regarding her call I grew uneasy about it and Googled the number. I have not been charged anything yet but I'm guessing this is some sort of a scam op.

Rude John called for a person. Would not identify themselves other than John. I called back 1-800-498-2223 after reading Web Pages about this number. I ask if they represented Bell South and if they were CBCS "What if I do?"and told this person what I read. He said "you can't believe what you read on the internet." So according to CBCS You all are liars!:) He got more rude, so I told him where to go and he hung up. Person asked for has no dealings with Bell South or with using my number and has great credit and has not lived here in 9 years.

These people call any time, day or night.  They always ask for someone with a name close to mine- but not me.  Is there ANY way to make this stop?!

Probably a Sprint business/marketing affiliate . . . or someone who has "stolen"/is misusing Sprint cellular customer infomation.  The entity/caller has never left a VM message, and from what I am reading from other folks here, it's also possible that this is the entity that Sprint partners with when verifying credit worthiness . . . or it's an entity that has hacked info from a valid credit company; yet, they don't know this.  Last, but not least, when a partnering company is an offshore entity, laws/standards are different or are compromised.  Take a look at all the data breaches and product recalls . . . yet, a parent company/HQ will claim very little or no responsibility.
