- Em| 4 repliesIt appears this is Apple. i had a message that they were attempting to get authorization on a couple thousand dollar purchase. This was not authorized so I called back to advise of this.
- Bob` replies to EmI got the same
- JB replies to EmI'm pretty sure this is a scam. Be careful about giving your information out like this.
- Bo| 2 repliesI also received a call form this number suggesting that some unauthorized purchases were made in my name at the online Apple store. This may be a phone phishing scheme. I would not give them any sensitive information, ie credit card number, SSN.
- Cathy replies to Bo| 1 replyi got the same. someone had made purchases useing my credit card. they did not ask me for any person info and they spoke to the police on my behaf. it is not a scam.
- Adu| 1 replyI got the same call today reguarding a purchace for an ipod on my name. I hve never put my personal info online except for paypal (unverified so no credit/debit is linked to it). I am also very hesident to call back. What should i do?
- Caller: Apple
- Mike replies to AduIt is legit. Apple questioned an order placed with my credit card, I did not place any orders with them, they did not ask for any personal info and they told me I should call my CC company. I called the CC company and there were 3 charges that were not mine, 2 of which were for Apple and totaled 2200.00
- Tom| 2 repliesI got a call from this number today. My caller id showed a number in the 516 area code. I reversed searched the complete number. It is registered to a Daniel Gale in Glen Cove, NY. Looks like a phishing scam to me. If you get a call regarding an order from apple, that you didn't place, just call the apple store number to verify the order 1-800-MY-APPLE.
- Tom replies to Tom| 1 replyI called the Apple Store, there was an order placed with the confirmation number left by the person who left the 800.506.3096 number. I canceled the order. Maybe Apple contracts these things to other people. Either way, just be careful what information you give out.
- Suspicious| 1 replyI am not very confident in this.
I received a similar message from Jacob, whose caller ID is (512) 674-2000. When I started asking questions, he asked me to hold and then hung up on me. Here is more information:

- LM| 1 replyThey were trying to help you, dummy. Same thing happened to me. I called back and they told me about an order that someone had placed in my name on Apple's website. Luckily, they were smart enough (psychic?) to suspect that the purchase was't authorized. I don't know how they figured that out, because the thieves used my exact name and address and phone#, but I'm glad they did.
They were trying to help you when they called you. They don't want any information from you, they just want to confirm that it's not an authorized purchase and warn you about it. - Mary replies to SuspiciousI got a voicemail today from this number from someone saying their name was Chris with Apple. He was asking about an order for a computer shipping to Washington State on my American Express Card. I don't own any Apple products, so I called American Express to see what was going on. They told me there was a charge from Apple.
I called the number back and got to speak to Chris. He didn't tell me much info, but did say that the order would be cancelled. Very Nice and polite and told me to call the bank to report the fraud. (he didn't know I had already done that)
I'm really glad Apple does this. It would have been weeks before I would have noticed it myself. - EE replies to LMLM, the same thing happened to me. i am so glad they called me.
- ssGot a call about possible unauthorized credit card purchases from Appleonline from this number. I tried to call back this number and you need an agent's extension to get through. I NEVER put my home number on anything and it is unlisted, so how did they get my phone number?
- Caller: Appleonline
- ssI called the main Apple number and this is a legit Apple number. I confirmed that my credit card was being used without my authorization to buy Apple products online. My bank also confirmed this. Good on Apple.
- Caller: Appleonline
- rgI got a call from 512-647-2000 on my answering machine asking me to confirm a purchase with Apple and call back to 800-506-3096. I have never dealt with Apple. When I called back, I got an answering machine and I did not leave any information.. Two unauthorized purchases appeared on my credit card the next month which has since been cleared by my credit card company. Something phony was going on since the stuff seemed to actually have been sent sent to who knows where and to who knows whom and I never authorized it.. I think the credit card company is onto this.

- RCATotally legit...
Caller left a message on my answering machine - "Mike from Apple" regarding an online order to be picked up at a local store. Never ordering anything from Apple, I was suspicious how they got my name and number, so I figured it was a scam. Just to be sure, I started checking my CC accounts - and sure enough, there was a pending charge on one of my cards for almost $3000 for an Apple online order. I wasn't sure about calling back the number he left, so I called 1-800-MYAPPLE, where they verified(and cancelled) the order.
THANK YOU APPLE - you saved me a big hassle.- Caller: Apple
- trxI received the same call from apple online and yes it's legit. they stated they wanted to confirm 2 purchases. called them back and sure enough someone had used my cc info. I did ask what was the last 4 digits of the card and they had provided the info. After confirming I did not make that purchase they canceled it and stated they will NOT be charging my card and to contact my cc company. Checked my account and there it was, a pending transaction from apple. THANK YOU APPLE for doing such a wonderful job confirming/verifying.
- kd replies to Em| 1 replyI just talked to Apple. They said that they would never call about something like this that they would just send you an email. This phone number is definitely a scam. Do not give them any personal information.
- K| 2 repliesIts a scam! Call the real Apple at 18006762775 to verify.
