Got a call from this number no one there. Then I get a voice mail saying to call them. No one answers when I call but the voice mail message asks me to leave my social. Sounds fishy to me.

This is a (school loan) debt collection. They are very persistent and will bug family members and places of employment.

I received a call from this number a few times regarding a family member whom I haven't spoken to in 15 years. I called the FTC at 877-382-4357. I recommend that you call as well.

Left a message about a family member who I am not related too.  Reading other experiences and i am pretty sure it is illegal for debt collectors to be calling other people.

The original call was from 513-234-5315, but in the message, I was directed to call 1-800-511-9260.  The woman mis-pronounced my name, which indicates it's a call list of some sort.  Extremely suspect.

Voicemail was as follows: "(bad mis-pronounciation of my name), this is Amber.  Please give me a call back at 800-511-9260.  This is regarding (someone I never heard of), and when calling back please use reference number (######).

I have NO unpaid debts to my name and all my loans are in good standing, so I can only assume this is 100% a scam.

It would appear that they have associated your phone number with someone else.  I cannot say why, but debt collectors are notorious for not doing proper research before placing calls.  This outfit used to deal in Student Loans until their contract was revoked.  They now collect for the IRS.  I would suggest that you read the following and then send them a "not me" letter as outlined.

"What's that you say?  You want the calls to stop?  You want to know where to report them and get them in trouble?  You wouldn't mind having them pay you for the harassment?  Well simply read my post here:   https://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-607-304-4458#p1294388325496760148

Got a message from a "Sarah" asking for me in a maiden name that I haven't used in over 15 years and telling me it is concerning an "Amy" and to please call this 800#.  It also gave a reference # to use.  Googled both numbers.  The 800# is to a collection agency, Pioneer Credit Recovery. The 513# is a spam number.

Seems that they are following the same script reported by JC on 8 May 2018:
