- juanne| 1 replyCalled to my cell phone, ask about the dog bitten accident that happened to me couple months ago. I did not call back.
- MGCall my home they said it is for a medical clain a refer to a website engenics which I could not find a reliable website with this name
- Caller: Engenics
- DLI got a call from this place today too. I think the name of the caller is "Ingenix", though, not "Engenics" as MG reported. At least, that's what I found from a Google search.
- Caller: Ingenix
- TammyWe got a message on our home phone saying that we should call this number about a recent medical claim. Just trying to figure out whether to call them back or if it's some sort of scam. I would think if it was from my insurance company, that they would have said their name.
- Tammy| 1 replyAs a follow up, I decided to call the number and they are a company that works with our insurance company to make sure that your claim shouldn't be going to another insurance company or to workman's comp. I just had to answer a few questions.
- Caller: Ingenix
- Sue replies to TammyIf this is the case, why do they not identfy themselves???
- Di| 1 replyThis is not a scam. I received a call yesterday on my cell phone and I called them back today. The message stated that it had something to do with a recent medical claim. I had been to the Dr. recently so I thought it may be legit. Ingenix represents my insurance company and wanted further details on my accident.
- Caller: Ingenix
- Jess replies to DiI just got a call from this number and they were referencing the same claim number i received yesterday from a different phone number that also appears to be suspicious. I already reported that number but will do the same today. I called my health insurance company yesterday and they said that the claim number was not legitimate.
- Sarah replies to juanneThey are just calling for your health care provider to see if there is any other insurance (i.e. worker's comp, auto insurance, etc.) that can be billed for your accident/ injury.
- Kelly J. R.My husband got 2 calls from this number. Both times it was a robot leaving a message on behalf of Network Health. I was convinced it was a scam but wanted to be sure so I called Network Health directly. They said they use Optim to process claims and it was not a scam. I gave them the reference file number that Optim left and Network said they had a few questions about a recent doctor appointment that I had. Network patched me through to Optim and I answered the 2 questions. They were just wondering if my appointment was related to a work or accident injury. So, the call was not a scam.

- heatherThey called me; they said "Optum" is their name now? It is not a scam; it's to review claims for your insurance provider. They're trying to get workman's comp to pay for whatever you had done (scans etc) or car insurance so they don't have to pay your claim (your health insurance).
- Caller: Optum
- Madison WIThis is a legitimate call. I called my health insurance company to ask if it was legit, and was told that this company does subrogation for my health insurance company. So I called the number and was asked a series of questions (by machine, not a person) relating to a recent health appointment. The questions asked if the diagnosis was related to a (1) motorized vehicle accident; (2) employment accident; (3) accident caused by another party; (4) sports injury; (5) at a location other than my home address. In all cases, I responded "NO". The voice told me that they will tell the health insurance company to process the claim according to the benefits provided.
- Caller: Optim
- ChrisLegit call. Mine was also from Optum and was regarding a wellness program that I was enrolled in. Definitely not a scammer.
- KimI received two calls from an automated message from Optim in regards to a medical claim. I called my provider and they verified that yes the call was legit and that they use Optim to make sure other insurance should be billed such as workmen's comp or Auto insurance.
- Caller: Optim
- Hal DThis seems to be legitimate a call regarding payment for scans I received regarding neck problems I am having. See previous posts for the questions which were asked. Since it was a robo call from an 800 number I came close to just deleting the message and adding the number to my call block list. Could that be the plan as an excuse to deny coverage?
- Caller: Optim?
- Irritated in CaliforniaCalls my mobile number but doesn't leave a complete message. Blocked.

- Ericka| 1 replyThis just does not seem right to me. My dad's cell (I'm 46 and do not put my dad's phone number on things...) Got a phone call from an all automated voice. It was about an e.r. visit my son had. But they didn't have the first names right.. My dad did not take my son to the e.r....i did...plus why was it a computerized voice? So I ignored it. Now I have received a letter from a company calling themselves Optum (not Optum Rx which is associated with my insurance company) but the letter has NO emblem or letterhead about Optum. And it has a drastic statement "if we do not hear from you in 20 days, we will deny your claim"....this seems like a scare tactic to make people feel like they have to call. If this company is legitimate, United should be ashamed of themselves for being associated with a company that represents themselves so unprofessionally that so many of us think it is a scam.

- Tygerkat replies to ErickaContact your insurance company and ask them about this call & letter. If they don't have correct information, they probably aren't associated with your insurance company.

- Minnesota DadI received a letter in the mail claiming to be from Optum that had this phone number in it. As others have called out it threatened to deny my claims if we did not give them additional information. I googled the company and went to all the legitimate web pages but couldn't find this phone number anywhere on them. I submit a request for them to contact me (the legitimate Optum websites) and when they did they told me they had never heard of it and that they believed it to be a scam.
If this is a real company they have some serious issues with their processes that should be addressed.- Caller: Optum
