said they were from USAA, giving me a courtesy call and needed me to verify my account number and password.  i refused and told them that they should have that information on file.  they insisted that i needed to confirm the information.  

i refused to give them any information.

Since when does a reputable company request password verification?

I called USAA and verified that this is a correct number for thier flood department. They did verify that they should not be asking for login information. The agent I spoke to was going to investigate the issue.

I've actually gotten emails from them about this exact subject in the past.  I was told that USAA will NEVER call you to verify info...the only verifications you have to provide are done when you call in and somebody at USAA needs to access your account.

Call from USAA about a past due balance

Its not a spam. Its about your insurance policy that is probably overdue. I know mine is... baha!

Yeah, it's for a past due balance from USAA Auto Insurance. Forgot I signed up for monthly this time...lol

that actually is USAA and isn't some scammer.  they ask you for your name and your policy number.  they never ever ask you for your passwords.

Its USAA but not always about past due balances. They just called me about a flood claim I have pending.

Also was nearing my cancellation date for my policy.  It is indeed USAA calling, and yes they as you for your account no and name.  Its a legitimate call for what ever situation may be taking place re: doing business with USAA.

It is USAA. I'd forgotten to pay my bill and it was a courtesy call. I was glad they called instead of just cancelling my policy.

You have to wonder, USAA does so many things well.  Why are they too frigging dumb to put "USAA" on the caller ID?

USAA.  They ask for your PIN, which is not your user name and password.  They ask for your PIN for any internet or phone interaction.

It is USAA calling about my car insurance payment being late. Im with the rest of you... I appreciate the reminders my days get so busy I dont remember what bills I've paid or not paid. Clearly I forgot to pay this one!!!! Lol

I got a call from this number today. No message. Now we can block these fools with the iPhone iOS 7. Thank goodness.

It's not usaa the people commenting here are dumb AF or working with them. If they are willing to get bs numbers and call you they are probably willing to post bs comments. Don't give your info to anyone over the phone.

Goto USAA.com. Click on Security Center at top right. Read how they communicate with their customers.

Follow their instructions if you provided personal info to a caller.
