Call from rachel at card services.   Called number back and they are pushing life alert or roadside assistance.

Left a message with a heavy Middle Eastern accent stating that I have been approved for a loan I never applied for.

I was not at home when the call came. With my answering machine(yes I still have one) I did not have the option of opting out. Every button I pushed resulted in a female pushing a product.

"Rachel" from Card Services touting the lower credit card interest rate scam...

Got the second call in three days from this number (800-542-6791).  One of a countless number of calls from many different numbers with the recorded  'Rachel' credit card scam.  Lately, I'm seeing that these predators are increasingly hijacking toll-free numbers (800 & 877 prefixes).

Got a missed call. They left no message. Blocking number.

Caller do not leave a message. That means it's junk!

Credit card scam. I pressed 1 to speak to a rep and was bounced to a voicemail box. Crazy!

Picked up, even though I know the other end is crap.  No one said anything.  Dead air for about 30 seconds.  Then, they(it) hung up.

I am so damn tired of these calls!  I get about 1 every couple of hours now.  Tempted to get a new phone number.

These calls are computer dialed.  A new number would not help.  Eventually the computer would hit the new number.

So fed up sick and tired of all many different scam callers and their scam caller numbers they need to be. All caught and stopped. Cant stand them all

Got a call from 800-542-6791 called me again after pressing 3 to be removed from their list.

Does reporting this to the FTC even do anything? I reported them again to the FTC Do Not Call list again.

No way to keep them from calling. Ive asked pleaded and threatened wnd they still call. So now i play there game. Give them nothing but bogus info. After about 5 to 10 minutes depending on how much fun you are having they figure it out and are so mad

Unwelcome call on my unlisted land line @ 3:57 p.m. on 3/09/2016.There was no message left. I will block it, but really I can only block 250 calls and I keep getting 5-10 calls a day. Sometimes I delete a number from months ago only to have to re-block it. Some of them are the similar exchanges.

Well I just got my 1243rd final notice from Rachel.  I wish she would keep her word and stop calling.

I have a whistle next to my phone.  I let them talk, let them think I am listening, then blow the whistle as hard and long as I can.   Then hang up and block the number.  I don't even wait to find out if they heard me.

Always keep the call under 30 seconds for tracking purposes.

Couple of things.  First, on that 30 second fallacy.  If they called you they already have your phone number and can therefore trace it.  If you called them, again they have your information since you cannot block an 800 number from accessing it.

Now as to the whistle:

I have good news and bad news.  The good news is that the whole whistle/air horn thing will damage hearing.  The bad news is that it will be your hearing that is damaged.  That whistle/air horn thing is an urban myth.
