We are constantly getting calls from Wells Fargo Auto Finance. Never had any business with them and certainly now have no intention to so. They have been calling non-stop and I am tired of this company. Nothing that we do seems to help: do not call registery, state's Attorney General, local police, nothing... They change phone number and the calls continue.

Here is the deal on this number.. Someone that you know just bought a new car or truck. That someone put down your number as a contact number. Either the payments are late or they have a question. I just got off the phone with them and I had my number removed and gave them a number that they can contact the person they are trying to find. (:
Answer the call and when they ask for the person say that they called the wrong number. Remember the person they want to talk to. Wait a few hours and call the 1-800 #. You will get a different CSR. DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY INFORMATION ABOUT YOU!! They will ask for your S.S. number dont give it to them. Tell that they are calling your number looking for such and such person. They will ask for your number and bang they have it on file. Tell them to remove it and you just so happen to have a number where is person can be reached. If you do give it to them if you dont give a any number with the same area code.
I recommend the local D.A. office or police dept. Remember dont get mad get even..Have fun with this!

This number has called me constantly from the time I got my phone. They ask for Paul but I don't know a Paul, he obviously had the number before me. I have had several people take my number off and have spoken to supervisors about the situation. Nothing works and they continue to call me. What can I do to get them to stop?  I see the number on my caller ID and I instantly get very upset.

We also started getting these calls after we received a new number; they must still have it listed to the old owner. They call 2x-4x/day and either hang up before leaving a message or leave a message to call them on an urgent matter and to call until midnight (!). I called once, after blocking my phone number, and we greeted with "hello?". After saying hello to them they came back with "Wells Fargo" and asked for my SSN. I refused and they asked for my account number. I told them I didn't have an account with them (true) and hung up. Wells Fargo has reportedly stated it does not own this number. Wells Fargo is also apparently lacking in the competence department as they have had laptops with customer information stolen. I'm pretty convinced these calls are "vishing", or voice phishing, since they ask for an SSN first off. I've also received calls from "Wells Fargo" from 610-226-2300. I think if you have an account there or not is irrelevant; they've obtained your number either to contact you or someone who had it before you and based on that, they're trying to get more personal information from you. I'm just surprised calls from this number have lasted so long and no state attorney general has investigated this. It seems pretty much like a slam dunk to me. The bottom line is, don't answer, don't call back, and DON'T give them any personal information.

The Fair Dept Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) governs collection efforts. If you are a third-party being harassed by Wells Fargo, or any other collector, you have certain rights. Here is a website with more information: http://fair-debt-collection.com  Under the FDCPA, they must give you the name of the company calling when you ask for it. Even if you are a third-party they can continue to contact you if they believe you have information that would allow them to find their debtor. However, once you give them that info, or tell them you don't have it and demand that they stop contacting you, they must stop. If they don't stop, keep a record of the calls. Call every Wells Fargo phone number you can find and ask for a phone number for the Auto Finance Legal Dept. When you get a phone number, call and ask for the name, address and fax number of the general counsel (or lead attorney) in charge of the dept. Write a letter detailing the harassment and your requests to have it stopped. If this is not your debt, state that you are a third-party. IMPORTANT: show at the bottom of the letter that you are sending a copy to the complaint dept. at the OCC (Office of the Comptroller of the Currency - the agency that regulates Banks and their subsidiaries - like Wells Fargo). Here's a website for the OCC with an online complaint form: http://www.occ.treas.gov/customer.htm#Filing%20a%20Formal%20Complaint
Or mail or fax the copy of your complaint to: Customer Assistance Group, 1301 McKinney Street, Suite 3450, Houston, TX 77010, FAX: 713-336-4301

You will most likely get a letter back from Wells Fargo supposedly apologizing, but really placing the blame on you (this is the phone number their debtor gave them, their collectors didn't really harass you, etc., etc.)  Respond to this letter telling them why it's all bunk, and cc that letter to the OCC too (include a copy of the response from Wells Fargo).

IMPORTANT: if you are receiving mail at your home addressed to the person Wells Fargo is trying to find, send it back - with a note written on it that that person does not live at your address.  If Wells Fargo sends you mail and you don't return it, they can assume that you must know where this person is and, therefore, they can start contacting you all over again. Better yet - if you get mail after you have sent your complaint letter, send another complaint letter about the mail! (don't forget to send a copy to the OCC!)

They called at home, they called my cell (five times in fifteen minutes while I was in a meeting), they called at work but they NEVER called the person on the loan.  They called me first every time; they say it's random selection - BS.  They leave a buzzing sound on my answering machine five days a week.  I have talked to the person on the loan (I call him every time they call me) and he has shown me the bill that shows his due date.  They start calling five days before the bill is even due. I've tried talking to them politely but they are extremely belligerent, they call me a liar (outright, "that's untrue"), they accuse me of associating with bad debtors (as if a very responsible twenty year old with his first car loan was the bad guy in this scenario).  Here's my favorite part - they tell me that they are recording the conversation "for quality assurance" but they say it like it's a threat.  Hey, they are the ones being jerks, not me.  In the end, I was able to get the borrower to remove my numbers from their call-list.

This number has been calling me daily for months.  They call about 5-10 times a day at all hours.  They always ask for someone I do not know.  I have repeatly told them to take my name off their list and I have threatened to take legal action.  Nothing seems to work.  I feel as if I am being harrassed by my own cell phone.  I'm at my witts end with this company.

I get these calls seven days a week and several times during the day and also late into the evening. It is quite annoying. I am not interested in re-financing anything and if I decide to I will call them. Started out great and then after a year or two we became bombarded with all these ridiculous, harrassing calls. They can get the two cars back if they want to keep harrassing us with the calls! We will definitely take our business elsewhere.

Asked for SS #, then asked for last four #'s when I refused to give the SS #, when I refused that they asked for my bank account # - then talked with my husband and he told them that we had paid our payment - when, etc. It was very suspicious

They are our lender and if we are five minutes past the payment they start the calls!  I've repeatedly told them we have a ten day grace period and we will pay within that time and not to call us again.  Doesn't help - they call again.  They were calling my husband's work number as well!  I finally got that removed.  I pay via the internet and they can't see these payments.  We have both vehicles through them and I paid the wrong account twice and they saw it and still accused us of not making a car payment!  They are losers and I am now trying to refinance our vehicles through a different company.

1-800-565-2310 just called me at work (his name is Barry).  They called me at home yesterday and we informed them that we will make an internet payment on Friday (within 10-day grace period).  Thinking seriously about refinancing elsewhere.
