- cherie| 6 repliesMoney was taken out my account.
- Brad2--SCAM ALERT--
They did not call, but they DID try to charge money out of my mom's account this a.m. The bank called to verify with me first. The ACH transaction reads: "MEDBENEFITS 9WillowSys8005870332TEL" and they tried to take $298. Never heard of them. I said "No." People like this have hit her account before so I had the account zeroed out and froze -- then opened a new account with no transactions being forwarded.
--SCAM ALERT-- - Ann replies to cherie| 2 repliesThey took 298 dollars out of my account as well. It was pending when I checked my balance online. I got in touch with my bank immediately and was told they could do nothing until the amount cleared. I also called the 1800 number for the alleged MedBenefits but got a voicemail with no company name or anything. I called the 1800 number again today and a woman essentially would tell me nothing other than she will post a refund and I should get it within 3-5 days for the 298. I am furious and wanted to know why the money was taken out in the first place. She said it's for some medical savings program regarding medications; she was very vague and when I said how did you get my information because I never applied for any thing of the sort, she said well, I guess you didn't that's why I'm issuing the refund. What kind of mess is this?! I called the bank thereafter, who is filing a claim and will refund my money within 1 day and will also contact this company. I may also have to change my debit card. What a mess. BTW, I never got any calls from this number.
- angel| 2 repliesi just had 298 taken out my account and about to contact my bank about my account. I wonder is this related to me applying for a payday loan but i did not accept any loan but did put my account info over the internet. I will not do that again. I have my paycheck direct deposited and can't change it for a month. i hope no more unauthorized charges come through

- misty replies to angeli just had the 298 also taken from my account i have contacted my bank as well. i did not order or buy anything from any medibenifits at all...im fallowing through with claims against this company...
- John from WisconsinSomeone contacted me twice from that company today. I spoke to someone from medical benefits direct about a few months ago and was foolish enough to buy a medical discount plan. I thought it was something that I needed for my prescriptions. It turns out that they only send you come bogus card that doesn't even work at all the the pharmacies. I have requested my money back many times, and only after 3 months of calling them every single day, that they finally agreed to give me a refund. Lesson learned: never buy anything over the phone ever again!!!!

- lilbirdI have just encountered the very same problem with this company withdrawing $298 from my account. i have never applied for medical anything but had tried to get a payday loan at one time. It was an automatic withdrawal so they had to have my bank routing number and account number. Lesson learned. My bank is returning the payment as I did not have the finds to cover it but still have an NSF fee of $35 from my bank. Hopefully if I file a claim I can get this reversed.
- shaboog| 1 replythese people took money out of my checking account also. and i just closed the old one last month because of the same problem. i can't keep opening and closing bank accounts. i immediately called the bank when this happened. unfortunately, we have to stay on top of these things. you can also contact the Federal Secret Service and Federal Trade Commission to report these instances.
- anonymous replies to shaboogThis is a version of the automatic debit scam as described by the FTC here http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/telemarketing/tel06.shtm It's frequently mysterious as to how they got your account info in the first place but at some time, you had to have given/used your account for something ($-off if you accept "free" trial of something at checkout, etc.) and buried in the fine print is authorization to autp-charge your account every month with bullsh*t subscriptions that may be very difficult to unsubscribe from. The methods used to get you to "agree" to the fine print is endless and they come up with new ways every day. You gotta read the fine print or simply stop accepting all offered freebies.
- frustratedI experienced the same 298 withdrawal and the promises that it would be refunded. To no avail. It has been 3 weeks. Has to do with a payday loan.

- charlesI had applied for a payday loan, and now I wanted to cancel and get the application fee refunded back to me. It has been 3 weeks and I still did not get my refund. They do alot of online stuff and have a lot of affiliates apparently. I'm really disappointed at some of their business practices. I am never applying for anything online ever again.

- JoyceOSame scam. They did this same $298 withdrawal to my elderly parents twice this month. We closed the account & are getting the bank to clear it all up. Sad that there are people out there praying on others, especially the older folks who go to the doctors frequently. There have also been several other charges/withdrawals from their account that were random companies or check paying companies.

- Maxthis happen don't apply for payday loans this taught me a lesson.
the took 298 out of my checking account- Caller: medbenifits
- Dana replies to cherieYes, they took out $298 from my account too. I am alerting my bank and the State's Attorney General and the FBI. Robbers.
- This is crazyI haven't applied for any loan. Not sure if my grandfather did or not. But this is crazy. I was given an additional number of 888-416-8615 but it only lets you leave a voice message. I'm just going through the bank and let them give me the money back and they can fight them.
- Caller: Didn't get a call
- CarlosThis is out of hand they submitted an electronic check for $1, but I have a feeling they were testing to see if it would go through without being noticed. I just can't believe that no one has put a stop to this scam. We contacted the bank, but from everything I'm reading from every ones post this has been going on for some time now. My wife called the toll free number and they told her that they sell many products for many companies which is complete bull. The e-check has list "Sales National Of America" as to the pay order of.
- TortorNever applied for a payday loan but some how med benefits took $298 from me which took all I had plus over drafted my accnt. When my check got direct deposited it took ALL of it in fees. It's been over 3 weeks. Ive been speaking with someone named dasha every day and have yet to get my money back
- Caller: No call
- Karen PuigNo phone call that I am aware. They just took $298 out of our checking account. Don't even know who they are, I called the number and got a voice messaging system.
Company called Med Benefits...if they called, they used a different number than that of the one above. I do not ever answer calls with numbers who I do not know. - LizHow do we stop these people from taking money out of our account when you didn't give them your bank account number or name. I was also charged 298.00 the bank took care of this also. I am so mad. I will not stop until this problem is solved.
