- DNOur daughter keeps getting calls like AAA using her middle name which she doesn't go by. Never done business with CIBC although they mention going to branch or contacting a mailing address in ON. Called twice in last twelve hours and twice about a week ago.
- Caller: Supposedly CIBC
- KikiBI live in Vancouver, BC and have been visiting my family in Kamloops, BC for the last few weeks. My Aunt who lives in Vernon calls me and says that CIBC has been calling her place asking to speak with me, and they left a file number. I immediately called CIBC and they aren't trying to get a hold of me. I called the number, got one of those 'your call is being connected' messages and then this woman answers the phone saying 'Thank you for calling CIBC can I have your reference number please' - there's no other people in the background, it's very quiet and her name was 'Chic' (I asked her to spell it). She then wanted me to verify my info, to which I refused. She then said she would verify my address on file and she gave me one for a place in Prince George, BC!~!! I got angry and said that I feel this is very suspicious and that I do not trust her. She then asked for the phone number they have been calling so they can remove it from the list (because I told her the number they have isn't even for me..) I didn't want to give the number, but I thought I might, just in case. She also obviously had call display because she asked if they number I wanted removed was the number I am calling from. BEWARE people, beware. I am shaking from this experience.
- Caller: Tele SCAM!
- ReceptionThis number called my work phone after hours and on the weekend. The message was truncated, indicating that it was an automatic dialler leaving messages - a live person would realize that they were hearing my phone's automatic response, wait for it to finish, and then leave a message. The automatic dialler starts yakking the moment the phone is answered and half the message they are trying to leave is not recorded at all. I called the number and it is supposedly the CIBC. I decided that if the CIBC were truly trying to reach an employee with their work number, they would do it (a) on a week day and (b) in person, reaching the receptionist if they didn't know the extension. I deleted the message.
- Caller: CIBC
- Alan the Head CookieI don't answer any 800 number calls, called them using googletalk. Claimed they are CIBC, on Peter Street in Toronto. They won't leave messages if your voice mail doesn't give your full name. I said it can't be that important then! Didn't give them my number to "delete" from their list, just blocked the number on my phone.
- Caller: CIBC ...maybe....
- GSI have been getting calls from this number for a week now, usually they do not answer and hang up. Finally someone spoke to me and claimed to be from the CIBC and needed personal info to verify my ID. I refused as I have never seen this number before. I contacted the CIBC directly and they informed my all my accounts are uptodate and that they absolutely no reason to call.
Sound like phishing to me....- Caller: Claims to be CIBC
- SBI've been getting calls from this number almost every day for over 1 week now. I don't answer 1-800 numbers. I called the number back and it says "thanks for calling CIBC and hold the line." I hung up, I don't have any account or dealings with CIBC and called them to inquire if they are trying to get ahold of me. CIBC stated no they aren't. Phone number is now blocked.
