- Fiona| 1 replyThis is the number that shows up on caller ID for Student Assistance Corporation (thread for the number that they leave is here: https://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-866-640-5206 ). They robo-call multiple times a day, usually within just a few minutes of each other. I have already informed them that the person that they are trying to reach does not reside here, and I have no idea who the person is. This does not seem to make a difference, though, and they have yet to remove my number from the database.

gives a number to call re student loans. - PuffThey call our no. 2or 3 times a month asking for someone that does not live here. our no. a no-call no. but that does not seem to make much difference to them. Im going to turn them over to the State Attorney General as this has been going on for several months--so far I have had no luck tracking down the location of the Company or individuals that are making the calls,

- TamMessage was left w/no company name or person's name saying that I was used as a reference for a Tiffany Brown (of course I do not know anyone by that name). I wanted to speak my peace so I called the number back while the person that was looking up the information (by my phone number which nothing came up) and then by Tiffany Brown which still nothing came up, I looked up the callback number on-line and told the person that their company is listed as fake. She said that is not the case. I said what is the name of the company again? She said Student Assistance Corporation and I said and what does the business do? She said she isn't at liberty to say. I said that sounds pretty bogus then, now doesn't it? She said oh okay well thank you then. I also relayed to her that no company should be calling me that isn't willing to identify their business function.

- anonymousthis was an answering machine messageCalleridreadunavailable withthephone number 800-635-3743 "If this is not_________ (my last name, then first name) then do not listen to this call." Then the caller hung up without leaving a message.Inmy case I did anonline entry to publishers clearing house which directed me to their sponsor which was a student loan site. I provided no info and then clicked off of that site. Clearly they received my contact info through publishers clearing house entry because these automated calls came the same day as my computerized publishers clearing house entry that directed me to this site called student loan services.
- sickuvitI get calls from this number several times a week on my home phone. I'm never home during the day to answer, but they leave pointless messages on my answering machine. Some simply click 3 times and start the "If you'd like to make a call, please..." message. Some are just white noise. Some are a robo-greeting that is chopped off at the beginning and at the end. There's never been any real or human content to the message. It is actually rather annoying. The caller ID shows "SAC", which I guess is Student Assistance Corporation. I've contacted my former university and made sure all of my loans are up to date but still get these calls.
- Caller: SAC, maybe
- JoanIf this number is associated with a debt collector for student loans,... boy, have they got a wrong number! I never applied for, or received, a student loan in my entire life!

- SAC Employee| 6 repliesI actually work for this company. For those of you doing research your not doing very good searching. If you google "Student Assistance Corp." you will see that they are a company of Sallie Mae the student loand company. You would not believe how many calls we actually get inbound and outbound that are the wrong number obviously when people are in school for 4+ years and then graduate its possible they have changed numbers several times (hence why you would be getting the calls) trust me they are ligitimate we can not give out information because of TCPA (telephone consumer protection act). We cannot give information out as it is a violation of the actually borrowers rights. Once you either answer or tell them its a wrong number the number will get romoved. Trust me i remove about 50 a day. They are legally allowed to call as many times a day as need be untill either a live person is reached or a message is left. Many people think their loans are up to date however a school cannot access the correct records to tell you that. This company has 3 businesses that run in the same building and all use the same outgoing number. typically a 765 area code when you dial back the 765 number you are transfered to 1 department. If your student loans are from the guarantor of MI ME OK IA you should be calling the other department. Which is called Non-Funds, the other department is a new department just created new this year 07 that councils students whos loans are going into repayment to see if they have questions and prepare them for payment of their loans. This company although being a subsidiary of Sallie Mae services delenquint loans for many companies, Nelnet Wachovia, Citibank, Sallie Mae, MOHELA, EdAmerica, etc..

- Irritated Recipient replies to SAC EmployeeHi, I would like a number which I can call to get my number removed from the database. I am constantly getting called and if I answer the phone, no one responds on the other end. I understand what you are saying about getting people's phone numbers wrong but I doesn't make sense when no one actually speaks on the other end of the phone.
- zenoThese jerks call my cell phone 3-4 times a week. I have asked for removal more than 3 times. They keep calling.

If you want removed you will need to do some research, find out who the guarantor of your loan is if it is USA Funds call 800 635 3743
if you guarantor is MI MA OK WA call the non-funds number they can give you the # at the above number its 800 906 something, i think
Im pretty sure that sending a letter to the ceo "tim fitspatrick" wont do any good since the real CEO is C.E. Andrews, and im sure his secretary will read the letter laugh and then throw it away. If you want removed simply call back the dept that has your account dont call the 317 or 765 # those will only transfer you to the wrong dept, or give you a not avail. for incoming calls msg. Do your homework, call the right dept, they do use a dialing system so sometimes a rep isnt on the line right away and we all know how well computers actually function properly so...- Caller: SAC

- Laetithey keep calling my cell phone. seems like it is for someone else
- noneI have told the person on the other end of the line that they have called a wrong number EVERYTIME they have called. They apparently have not removed my cell number from their system because I continue to get called. I really don't believe the statement removed the same day. if this is true why do I continue to receive calls for soemone other than me. When I answer I get a human saying this call may be monitored and then asks for the person. Most people would just hang up with the unprofessional way these calls come through, probably why they don't get responses.

- Former SAC employee replies to SAC Employee| 3 repliesI worked for Student Assistance Corporation for two years. Whenever someone told me that we are calling them and they do not know the person we were calling, I promptly and politely removed the number from our calling list. About 2 years ago I moved and got a new phone number. I got a new job years ago, but I knew exactly how to handle the situation when I found the new phone number I received had belonged to someone who was on their calling list. All I had to do was call 1-800-635-3743 and tell them I did not know the person they were calling. Guess what--It worked perfectly and I have not heard from them since. That's all it takes. These people are calling your number because they believe that is the correct number for the person they are trying to reach. Once they know it is not the right number, they will not call you.

- Sue replies to FionaTo all who have posted here: please go to http://www.studentloanborrowerassistance.org/collections/collection-agencies/ & read the 3 pages as well as click through to the links entitled "contracted collection agencies" - which, when you click through to gives you a list of the collection agencies the Dept. of Education currently contracts with (& you'll note that this collection agency isn't one of them), & a link to "tell us about your experiences" - they might just like to know about this company.
I'm struck by the statement made on this web site's first page: "The complexity of the student loan program leads to confusion about who is collecting on a debt, & makes it easy for an independent contractor to misrepresent itself as the government". I'm not saying this collection agency is doing this. What I am saying is that it doesn't appear to me that this company has any government-conferred contractual right to attempt collection on defaulted student loans, but don't take my word for this: contact the government.
I ran into a peculiar consumer situation from a caller when I worked for the Better Business Bureau. The caller said someone claiming to be calling from a so-called collection agency had her student loan information; her Social Security number, etc. In checking on her behalf with the Dept. of Education I learned from their internal fraud investigation dept. that former employees had stolen borrowers' records, & set up a bogus company using a Mailboxes, Etc. rental post office box, & were attempting to collect on student loans. The bogus agency collector had told my caller that the Federal government had turned her account over to his agency for collection efforts. So, it pays to be aware that this kind of thing goes on. - Stop Calling MeLong story about a bad experience trying to get through to this weird organization who continues to call my home number: I owe no student loans and have never heard of this org ("GRC Student Assistance Corp."), which has left various #'s to callback ("800-635-3743" "800-635-3786"). A recording "calls" me, if/when I pickup, recording continues on and ends, no live operator; using *69, I find that their ongoing calls are from various #'s at 317 (as many have identified above). I tried calling the 317 numbers, got immense passes through from one recording to another, live operator says "I'll put you through to someone who can help you with that" (when I asked to remove my # from their computer), she transferred me to another round of recorded messages, asking me to hold "for a Customer Advocate" (recording) then transferred me to yet another recording advising me that their office hours were M-F, 9-5 while I was calling after 10:30 AM on a Tuesday. Recording asked me to leave my "name, number, etc." and they'd "call me back within two business days"...blah, blah, blah....
I then called one of the 800 #'s (800-635-3743). After more long holds, I got "Marie" who said my number would be removed but then asked, "who does the recording say we are calling for?" I responded with first name only (that their recording states, but whoever, this is a violation of privacy of that borrower and should not be tolerated anyway).
She then added, "I'm sorry if you get any more phone calls." AND I SAID, "if I get ANY more phone calls, I'm going to write a complaint to my Congressman." She "got offended" and said, "OK, I'm ending this call now." And I hung up.
I advise everyone who is being abused/harassed by whoever this weird conglommerate is to write a complaint to their Congressman. Whether they stop calling or not, clearly this "group" of callers should be complained about to Representatives in Congress.- Caller: GRC Student Assistance Corp.

- Stop Calling Me@ Sac Employee, Dec. 5, 2007 -- your remarks are outrageous. Please try to understand that it is you/your employer who is at task to correct your wrongdoing, NOT the responsibility of the public to run through hoops and spend time "researching" just who to call to get you/your org. to correct your bad behaviors.
Why don't you STOP USING THE TELEPHONE to harass the public? If you can't keep up with your borrowers, it's your problem and it certainly is not the public's problem to spend time and money (and patience) trying to even get through to some loopey organization who is clearly leeching off the public and being additionally quite irresponsible. I bet you all are hourly employees and are just chalking up paychecks by accruing hours, undoubtedly being bailed out by the US taxpayers afterward. Write to your borrowers, if no answer, then emply someone to go find them but stop randomly calling anyone/everyone who has a phone just because you can.
I really loathe this type of sloppy business that seems to think the public and private utilities paid for by the public are there to be used/abused. If you can't keep track of your borrowers, it's certainly not the public's responsibility to keep track of them for you, nor to keep track of your bad behaviors, and even TRY getting through to whomever at your wherever place of business.
Another thing: IF you're going to continue abusing the public over the phone, at least do the right thing and have live operators calling who are capable of taking complaints and of stopping the abuse when it's identified. All the "robot calls" from your ridiculous computer messages only amplifies your incompetence as an organization and as employees of that org.- Caller: GRC Student Assistance Corp.
