This number came up on my Mac computer while on the Internet in Safari. It said I gad s virus and to call this number immediately.

I used the Adware-Removal-Tool and it removed the mal-ware.

These people are PRETENDING to be Norton and ripping people off!!!

Got a pop-up listing this phone number on it to call "tech support" because I had a virus, while I was on Safari on my Mac. It has blocked me from using my Safari--can't get internet access at all, and can't get rid of their "message." It had a fake Norton logo on it.

You need to force quit Safari then Clear Cache and History.  Instructions from the osxdaily.com website:

You should also probably reboot your Mac when done.

I got the same pop-up and it totally locked up my computer, cannot get around it.  Looking up the name with it, www.geekstechnologies.com notes it is a new site with little history and a "rating" of 65%.

I got the same pop-up/number.  Looking up their www. makes it look very suspicious.  Gonna have to get a tech guy to get rid of it as it also locked up my computer completely....  I was on a PC via Windows.

While on the internet this "www.geekstechnologies.com page jumped up with the message that they had frozen my computer (certainly did) because they had spotted mal-ware and "blocked" my computer from further use and that I would have to call the above number to arrange to correct the problem.  Looking up the # and web address on (another) computer makes this site look very suspicious.  And I can no longer get into my computer for anything so I can't use the above suggestions so far.

Can you use CRTL-ALT-DEL to bring up Task Manager?  If so, then use it to kill all running browser processes.  If not, force a power down by holding the power button for at least 6 seconds. Wait a minute and reboot and see what that does.  Once you get back in, you will need to probably use a malware removal tool. Also, once you have it cleaned up, consider installing an Ad Blocking extension or add-on for your browser. These hijacks are embedded in ads served up by third party ad servers on popular websites and the website owners have no control over the ad content.

Do you use a PC or a MAC?

If you use a PC, learn how to boot into "Safe Mode".
Run an anti-malware program from a CD drive or USB drive while in Safe Mode.

Usually that type of malware is installed by a web advertisement at some visited page.  The owners of that site may or may not know about the problem.  Usually it is just a Browser Hijack, but sometimes it is worse than that.

I really wish you did not display the site URL ... that site may also be infected ... but knowingly!

Came up while I was in safari trying to check on a balance on a debit gift card. Locked up my computer (Mac) but was able to force quit and restart. Does just seeing this window (fake norton alert) mean I have to do anything else to 'clean' my computer?
