Called twice; no message

Got a recorded call on a new cell # I've had for 2 weeks telling me it was "an important business matter". I hung up then redialed the # and after a very short hold a man asked for my account #. I told him that I had recently gotten this # and asked who he wanted. He gave me a name, I told him it was not me or anyone I knew or had ever heard of, then without hesitation I said that this conversation was being recorded for accuracy then asked  the my # be removed from from his call list or that I would send his company a cease and desist letter. He then said that he had not yet identified his company. I then truthfully told him that as a Licensed Private Investigator in my state that I had legal access to many databases that enable me to quickly identify the owner of a phone # and take immediate legal action that would amaze him. He stuttered, then apologized ans said he would immediately remove my #. We'll see.

After several phone calls from this number, I called them back around  8pm. The guy answered and told that I had to verify my personal information. After a long chat trying to find out who were they, he said that it was a gynecologist. Great idea for a doctor to call at 8pm!

This is a Central Billing group (collection agency essentially) calling you to let you know that you have an outstanding balance.  In my case, I had a medical procedure, and my wife and I moved before receiving one of the bills.  Despite registering forwarding addresses with the postal service, the outstanding bill was not being forwarded to our new address.

The 713 number Donna reported is a correct Houston-area number for the company.  I called it and was able to inquire about the matter and update the mailing address in order to receive a new bill.

While their voicemails, recorded messages, and hold message are ambiguous and cryptic, reeking of phishing schemes or at least telemarketers,  it appears to be genuine.  I will post back if there is any negative fallout from the call.
