6th call,,,,6th phone number....talked to a very rude person who insisted that my number was not being called and then hung up on me.  Do they have a gimmick going or what?

I have been receiving calls from 800, 866, and 888 numbers that I don't recognize since mid-July. they almost always use different numbers and usually seem to call me in clusters of 2 or 3 calls a day. I looked up all of these numbers and they have all been linked back to United Recovery Systems(some other posts have more specific details. I have avoided theiy calls most of the time.

So are you folks actually in debt, or is this some kind of scam or error? I have student loans, but they're always paid on time, so I can't figure out why I keep getting calls from these freaks. Weird...

I'm not in any debt but still receive calls from this #. I just get hang ups! I'm tired of them- several a day and different numbers as the person listed above

calls about 3-5 times a day , don't leave am message. I don't answer numbers I don't know, that's why I have voice mail.

Called 7:54 pm CST 15 Nov 2007. Third different phone number used to contact me. Either threatening sounding message or no message. Have called both land line and cell phone.

They've been calling me twice a day for the last three days.

"Funny" thing is, I got the cell number 3 days ago, and within 20 minutes I got the first call.

Another strange thing... I'm on vacation in the US, not even a US citizen, and got a "Pay-as-you-go" card for my European cellphone while I'm here on vacation.

I own no US creditcards, have no loans in the US, I don't live in the US, so I have no idea why these guys would calling me.

Yesterday around noon,I received a call from the above phone number as well as a back to back call from 1-800-763-2423. I did not answer the calls but let it go to my answering machine.  They did not leave a message.  Again last night, about 9PM, I received another call from above number.  Did not answer.  I am registered with the "Do Not Call" (TN)program.  Do I need to register a complain with them.

They left me a message 2 days ago so I called back to get address to tell them to quit harassing me. I told Lorraine Alvarez to put in the notes to not call and that I was sending a letter, they still call 6-10 times per day. The address to send a cease and desist letter is:

ok so they called and left a message so I called back and it said it was United Recovery Systems? what is this place? so I hang up and within one minute they call back from another # I do NOT answer and they hang up! so guess I am getting nowhere unless I choose to talk to them

Ashley Flores called her EXT is 9178 her callback # is 866-582-4085 she says its imporatnt that she speak to me today its important that she get in contact with me? never says why or if its collections or anything!

These people keep calling like 10 times a day, as with others.  I just don't answer anymore.  This is on my cell phone.  Knowing that they're either telemarketers or something (now I know it's United Recovery) I said that I wanted to give them money (for kicks).  But the guy kept saying that he just needs my LAST 4 digits of my SOCIAL SECURITY number...

I'm getting calls 10+ times a day on my cell. They start right at 8:00am and go all the way until 9pm at night.

These are just within the last 3 days. They don't leave a message and I don't know why a collection agency would call me. I have no credit cards or loans and the one item I have that is financed, is paid up-to-date. At least, according to my bill that I receive every month.

I have a work cellphone that was given to me two months ago. I only use it on the job. It's not even in my name. It belongs to the company. I get 4-5 calls a day from various numbers. Including this one.

They called my neighbor today wanting our information - we have an unlisted number. The woman gave him  fictional name, said she was a long-lost friend trying to get in touch. Isn't that tactic for debt collecting illegal? Wonder who I can report that to? Good thing my neighbor's 16-year old son is on the ball! He didn't tell them anything, just got the lady to give him her phone number just in case he found us!

Jazz it is illegal for them to do that. United Recovery Systems don't give a care though. Do a search on them you will find out they have had lawsuits against them in the past. They've even had to pay fines for violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

This is the very reason I won't pay my bill. I will not do business with a company that breaks the law, even if I legitimately owe it.

I've started to get mail addressed to someone with a similar name who apparently owes American Express some money. Now calls from this number. So it's likely to be American Express's fault for starting it.

The funny thing is that you didn't realize they are trying to reach the person who had the number before you.
