They call two or three times a day, even after 10pm. To date, there has never been anyone who has said a word to me, and after a few seconds, the call is disconnected. I don't know who they are, who they think they are calling, why they are calling, and why they hang up without a word said. Hopefully my having my number updated on the do not call list to include 800 #s will work to stop this.

I started receiving calls from this number about 2 weeks ago. They call almost every day between 6 and 10 pm. They never leave a message. I called the number and it is a British voiced automated system, it says progressive financial services, then asks for an account number.

These people called my mother, and identified themselves as Progressive Financial Services. I don't have any accounts with them, and the fact they called my mother, with whom I have not lived for over 20 years, tells me they are another bottom feeder collection scam.

Got a call from them today.  No answer, never identified themselves and left no voicemail.  Obviously they're just scam artists calling random numbers hoping someone that answers will be dumb enough to partake in their scam.

Finally left a voicemail calling themselves Progressive Financial Services.  They were looking for an Erin O.  but the person they're looking for doesn't own the phone number they called.  How do I block them from calling me wrongly again?

Just so that you know what your legal rights are. If you do owe debt and they call excessively, you have the right to speak to a manager and send them a cease and desist. You can either do a partial, or a full do not contact. For example, you can say only contact me through mail, or not at all.
You can also report them to the Better Business Bureau and/or the Fair Trades Commission for harassment, in which they cannot contact you until the investigation into their company is complete. This is my favorite route, because they can and will fine anyone with shadey business practices. If they say the call is being recoreded, write down the day and time and do your damnedest to p*ss off the caller. If they lose their temper, it will mean a fine for them.
If they are contacting your friends/family members, even if you used them as references, all that person has to do is say do not call me again and they cannot legally call them. Tell your people to get the name of the company and the persons name, if they call them back, have them file a complaint.
If they give any specific information, what it's concerning, even that it's a collections call, this is against the F.D.C.P.A guidelines and they can be fined. Even if the person asks what is concerning, all they should say is that it's a personal matter. Even if they say that it's urgent, this can be used against them.

If you are not the person that they are looking for and they continue to call, tell them that you want a supervisor and/or that you are going to report them for harassment to the BBB

Collection agencies are getting worse every day and people need to know that they are not powerless against them. If you have any question, feel free to email me at genericclacct@yahoo.com

the reason that they don't leave messages is because if they leave one, they cannot call back for 24 hours

I've been getting calls for about two weeks now, at least twice a day. I usually just hang up immediately, but today I answered, but no one said a word.

They called my mom looking for me, but my mom was never a reference I used with my Sallie Mae college loan.  Sallie Mae always contacts me by either snail mail or email; I've already made that clear to them.  I told my mom that it was illegal for them to contact her and that she should file a claim with the BBB as soon as possible for harassment.

I keep getting calls for Carlos someone (can't understand last name) and told to call 800-715-1350 if I am not Carlos ___ to remove my name (which I will not do because that would mean my number is real number they are reaching).  I've had my phone number for 30 years, so there's no reason to call for someone else every day.  What on earth do they get out of this harrassment?
