crystal called me just now from aviawest in nanaimo...  I tried a reverse lookup at whitepages.ca and found nothing. By just googling the 800 phone number, I got this website.

Regardless, Horray, i am a finalist as well.  same "contest" i guess.  same mercedes too.  she says that this contest ends in 2 weeks.  are they giving away a car every two weeks?

anyways, hopefully they won`t call back.

goodluck to all in getting these ppl to stop bothering you!

Hi.  I can honestly say I am usually skeptical of these sort of things too.  But in my case I can say the calls from aviawest are legit because I am the most recent winner of a 2 year lease and I took the cash option, which I have in my possession already. I got a call in March because the contest ended back then and they have different rounds of draws to pick the winner.  Same as everyone else they already had my info and were just confirming it and checking that I was over 19, which I can understand because kids fill those forms out all the time. I think they do time shares to and do offer people the weekends away to sit and listen to a seminar, but they aren't hiding that fact if you read the web page and that doesn't make it a scam.  Anyway that's not the same as the draw I entered.  Yesterday I got my picture taken and received my cheques and I didn't have to sign up for any sales seminars or buy anything.  I think it's good to be careful but people do win these things and this company from my experience it legit.  It's still hard for me to believe but it's true!

Just came back from that Aviawest appointment.

I was told on the phone that we'll receive a key to try open their car box and win the Lexus, plus, we'll be able to receive 2 of their 6 gifts which include: $100 dinner cert., 2 for 1 cruise, 50" plasma tv, camcorder, a couple night stay at their resort, & 2 nights Vegas stay (see: http://www.aviawest.com/lexus/) if we attend a 90 minute one on one appointment for their promotion.

Their sales offices is in Burnaby, we went there, a sales rep who just started her new job 3 days ago greeted us and basically she was just clicking her computer screen and showed us this so-called ownership package: Pay a certain amount of money and for that several years you paid you basically get 60000 points to use it at their resort in any location over the world.  They said you own that resort room/appartment but this doesn't make sense to me. Think of it this way, you invest in the company, if you own it, you should receive some share of profit the company is making, but what you are getting are free stay in their resort, no cash value.  You pay $20 for All-you-can-eat sushi, does that mean you own the japanese restaurant? No!

The sales rep didn't really know how to sell so she finished her talk in less than an hour and then there were silent moments coz her 90 minute time is not over yet and she doesn't know what more to say. So I just asked if we need to sit and wait for another half an hour until we finished the 90 minute appointment.  She said no and she said we could go to the front desk and get our prize.  We went to the reception, and in stead of scratch two out of six boxes to win the prize, I was told that the buy-1-get-1-free cruise is a fixed gift, and the scratch card has 25 boxes, you can only scratch six boxes to see how many keys you get in those boxes.  If you get six keys in all six boxes you scratched you can then win the 50" plasma TV.  That's not even 1/6 chance of winning a TV.  We said they misled us and wasted our time to come for what we thought a good chance to win nice price thing. The manager rolled his eyes and gave me response like "you ARE getting two gifts anyway, aren't you?", "Go ahead to tell people online what happened", "You can scratch and get your two price or you are more than welcome to leave if you don't like".  Totally unprofessional attitude towards confused and frustrated customer like us.  Well, true that we kinda expected before we went but if their response is more polite we would have no problem.  Kinda hard to imagine an international resort promoting best class services would give us such kind of services: a sales rep who doesn't know how to sell and a sales manager who told us to scratch or leave when we were confused.

At last we decided not to have our trip wasted on no point argument, so we scratched.  Got two keys in 6 boxes and so we got $200 dinner gift cert. from them. The Cruise one we won't use it so at least we have one prize useful,  Better than none.

Go if you want $100 dinner cert. & a B1G1F cruise, otherwise don't expect too much from them.  The so-called ownership program?  If you use the same amount of money to invest in some good stocks, I am sure you can get more money value than what their program offers, even better coz you get $$$ in return whereas this program only offers accomodation points, you use it if you travel, if you don't use it, you have nothing.

I got a call from 1 800 728 1695 from a Lynn. I immediately wanted to go, but started to think about it and came here. Not sure if I'll go having read GG's post, seeing as how I will not use the BOGO offer for the cruise. I'd much prefer one of the other gifts. Has anyone else gone to this sales pitch?

wow am i glad i googled i too recieved a phone call from andrea today to say that i have been chosen as one of the finalist in the lexus draw which was free to enter: however i dont enter free draws as i have learned from past experience you dont get anything for free, so i am not sure how they got my number...however being optimistic if one has the time and patience to listen to a sales pitch then why not if you revieve a gift certificate for dinner it still isnt so bad is it? personally i could forgo it all as i dont like the feeling of guilt after listening to a sales pitch nor the feeling of an obligation to buy. unfortunately and reality is we are in a recession and perhaps the worst is yet to come so really who has money to drop and invest but an upside is free dinner and in the end they might loose this game...

yah you're right Johnson, i think she works for Aviawest or maybe somebody who knows someone fron Aviawest and wants to help them with this kind of tactics in order to getr money from people, well there are some dinner certificates for time. he he he. i also gor a call from 1 800 728 1695 and the staff from Aviawest told me  the same thing. Scratch and win, dinner cert., key for car etc. So its not really a sure win, and its impossible for you to get that car that they are saying.  so Miss Laurie who are you really?

I received a message on my voice mail today from Aviawest saying I was a finalist in a draw for a Lexus.  It was interesting that they used my former last name (from over 10 years ago) instead of my married name.  I knew right away I did not enter a draw using my former name.   I have put myself on the "National Do Not Call Canadian list".    They obviously found a loophole in the rules surrounding the regulations or they are simply ignoring them!

The first thing that entered my mind was a "timeshare" scam.  Needless to say, after reading the comments on this site, I am sure that it what it is.

we went there today , and i agree with the above ,.. after we listend to the whole 90mins , we just said it wasn't for us and thats when they got rude,.. told us to show our selfs out , when we got to the counter we scrached 2 keys and got 100$ for certain resturants !.. and a free 2 for 1 cruise , how is a 2 for 1 cruise free??? .. bs !!!

The cruise should be free. You are just paying to go to a timeshare presentation and when you are at sea it's hard to walk away from it.

I recieved a message on my home phone this afternoon stating that Adam from aviawest in nanaimo had good news for me based on a draw I had entered to win a 2008 Lexus. I have no recollection of ever entering a ballot for a car and I am certain that it is fraud

Got a call from "Adam" at Aviawest in Nanaimo about the draw for a Lexus that I entered. I didn't enter any draw, and when I called back the Telus message said the number is no longer in service and I should call 101-45-78-# and that there would be a $3.00 charge for doing so...seems like a scam to me
