Called this number and talked to a person that said she was with the security division of HSBC bank.  He name is Alecia.  She said a person should get two phone calls, then a letter stating who they are.

HSBC Fraud Prevention.   I also got a call from them at 716-841-2424.  Called them back at the 800-758-4940 number.  Was legit.

They called me at this number.  I called back to finish my "fraud prevention questionnaire" for a credit card I had applied for the night before, my phone hung up in the middle of the conversation, because I must have hit a button with my check (it is a touch phone).  I called back again and they no longer said that they could continue that questionnaire and said I had to fax in documentation proving it was me.  I then told them I had already done the questions online, they said they had  no record of this in my application.  I thought this was really strange, because I did in fact do these questions online.  I told them I wanted to speak to a manager.  They are supposably calling me back in 10 minutes.  Now I am worried that this number is a fraudulent number and that I just gave personal information to crooks and am really worried.

I recieved a call from 1 800 758 4940, and I was told it was Capital One Bank. They were inquiring about a best buy card I had applied for. Best buy was HSBC prior.

I received a phone message yesterday asking to call back 1-800-758-4940 . It was verifying whether I applied for a credit card with Capital One and I replied that I did not and gave additional info regarding my identity..

This was a legit call from Capital One's Fraud Dept.  I had changed my address and they were verifying.

I got a call and two voicemails from 800-758-4940.. I never answer the phone when I have no clue who is calling. Instead I look them up. For Capital One fraud protection is 1-800-427-9428 or 1-800-239-7054.. so this is a bogus number ..be safe out there

I got a phone call from 1-800-758-4940 claiming to be Capital One Fraud section and that they needed further information pertaining to my credit card application made online.  The female caller said I needed to send them some documents.  She wanted me to copy my social security card, driver license and a bill front and back then send it by email or mail.  I said I don't think that will happen

Common 800 number scam targeting the customers or large-scale financial institutions.  Ignore and block these numbers.  If there are any problems call the number on the back of your card or the official number on your monthly statement.

Do not send or give any info to the person at this number! They wanted my ssn copy, and two pieces of prood of residents. They are a fraud. I called Capital One and they said they would NEVER EVER ask anyone to do this! Beware!!!

Same exact thing happened to me today, but she wanted me to fax my info to her. I called Capital One and they said they never call anyone asking for private information

They called me and asked for all my information and thankfully from my history of working call centers knew right away no one ever asks for full ssn and we definitely never sounded like we just got done smoking about 20 joints they sounded so unprofessional it’s almost laughable as soon as I told them I was recording the phone conversation they said we have to disconnect the call right away lol THIS IS 100000% A SCAM AND IF YOU GIVE LITTLE PEASANTS LIKE THIS YOUR INFORMATION THAN YOU DESERVE TO BE SCAMMED JUST SAYING IT DOESNT TAKE A ROCKET SCIENTIST TO FIGURE THESE COWARDS OUT 🤦🏼

A word of advice people can make any number come up on your caller ID they want they can make it look like your bank or card company is calling never give them information instead google the company calling phone number and call them and ask them if in fact they were calling you and they will let you know if it was them or not if it was them continue the call and address the question but never never never give out bank credit ID numbers always call the company back and don't answer questions until you verify they are trying to reach you
