Showed up in my bank statement.  Said I made a debit purchase of $0.19 and this phone number is on there.  It's only $0.19 but is still very suspicious.  I'll be calling my bank this morning.

I got charged $0.11.  Called my bank and closed off my debit card which was compromised.  Possibly test by thieves and if left undetected, they come back later and raid your account.  Barry in NC

18 cents charged to my Charles Schwab Bank debit card an Saturday.  Interesting note: this is the same account and one of the same charges as when I signed up with PayPal bank in June.  I.e. PayPal debited my account for 20 and 18 cents as part of the authorization mechanism.  It is just curious that so many different banks are reflected in the messages here and that all the amounts are in the range that PayPal uses for authentication.  Has there been a security breach at PayPal?  Does anyone else have a way to check if the amount they were charged is the same as a PayPal authentication debit?

I use PayPal and they DEPOSITED to small amounts to my Etrade account. I have used them for 5 years and have never heard of small debits....But, it may be you are using a credit card, which in that case they may do that. Long story short....Someone at PayPal stole my account information or lost it last year and I had a mess. Get new accounts!!

They got me too - 18 cents!  I cancelled my cards and had new ones issued.  This seems to be an identity theft ring.  I alerted my banks to this and they will investigate.  Be aware - once you see this charge from GFDL with 1-800-746-0847 - you will know it's a fraud.  I called the number and it's been disconnected.

Showed up my online banking on 11/17/08--called my bank and they advised me to cancel my debit card and get a new one.  Called the 800 number and recording states it is no longer in service.

DHS said to contact ATTY Gen or FBI  FBI will NOT investigate until the banks send a report to them.  In the meantime, with all of these charges being so small, the banks are taking care of them internally &/or writing them off instead of filing charges.  It has to be above a certain $ mark before it's considered fraud.  Stay on the banks!!!!  This seems to be happening to any bank or credit union and it's ALL over. I live in OK

Nobody is making any money off these transactions -- GFDL whoever they are, are losing money each time one of these transactions gets processed. Look at this article from Forbes: http://www.forbes.com/entrepreneurs/entretech ... creditcard.html A quote from the article "a base rate of 1.61% on each bill, plus 20 cents per card swipe"  and non-swiped cards are charged a higher transaction fee -- usually an additional 5 or 10 cents. Here are the processing fees if you get a merchant credit card processing account through Costco: http://www.elavon.com/acquiring/costco/  -- 20 cents per transaction for in person card-swiped transactions and 27 cents for mailorder/phone/internet transactions.

The criminals with a bunch of stolen card numbers are just trying to see which ones are valid and somehow they were able to submit them under GFDLs merchant account and victimize them as well.  Once they have a list of the valid cards, they start making online purchase and balance transfers with them.

See: http://voices.washingtonpost.com/securityfix/ ... target_wik.html for more information on this type of scam.

I just got home from a long weekend and had a call from my bank that I had $400 in charges from CCBILLEU.COM.  The marked my card hot and are not clearing the charges.  I went online to look at my account and there is a .12 charge from GFDL.  Looke like they have been randomly testing #'s and coming back and raping the accounts they got a hit on.  Question all charges even the little ones.

A .12 charge just hit my US Airways account on 11/13
Called Security and they cleared it off and said they already have GFDL flagged as suspicious (but apparently not 'reject').

Same thing here...with my Credit Union account.  In reply to person trying to determine any common denominators with us all...I do not shop online, my account is at my credit union and not a bank, I pay my bills online and they are a mortgage and utilities...thats it!  Anyway been sent blank checks by WAMU...they opened an account from 10-15 yrs ago on me and sent blank checks and reactivated this as if I wanted.  When I called to get this bogus activity stopped, they asked for my personal info?  Anyone?  It is up to us to figure out so we can feel free to use our cards again without reprisal.  Generic info would possibly help us to determine who did this?
