Called my home up to 9x/day for days on end, but they never left a message. I blocked my # and called back. The company is called SST - (Systems and Services Technologies) and they do "recreation" loans [rv, boat, etc.] under the umbrella of Medallion Bank (a fact I later discovered online).
I kept pressing for more info and finally the representative admitted to also being "A COLLECTION AGENCY FOR VISA". I asked exactly which VISA/bank/institution(s) did they represent, and she replied "ALL VISA's", and then "ANY CARD THAT IS A VISA, WE REPRESENT THEM ALL"! Riiiiiight.....
BELOW IS A COPY OF MY SEARCH RESULTS FOR SST (Windows Live Search):
SST, Inc. Excellence in Third-Party Servicing
Offer services including loan collections, third party servicing, credit collections, and customer service.
They call 6-12 times a day at 2 different #'s of mine. Never leave a message. I do have a car loan with SST that I am 9 days behind on one payment so I guess that's what it is probably about. Still- for F's sake. Interrupting my business umpteen times a day doesn't make me have the money any faster.
I have received numerous calls daily with this phone number but on caller ID it says "unavailable". They never leave a message. I don't have a loan with this company. We usually don't answer the phone for unidentified callers, however, because they have been persistent I decided to answer and request that they remove us from their caller list. The response was "mam, we will continue to call and have a nice day". I have tried to block this caller with no avail. Wish I knew where to go from here......
SST is a debt collection agency. They recently "started servicing" my car loan. The company that gave me my loan changed names 5 times before I received mail from SST saying they were servicing it.
I believe the company that originally gave me the loan went bankrupt and SST was there to buy up all the debt.
On a positive note, although they never leave a message, they have been decent in working with.
I STRONGLY SUGGEST that if you're making payments to them Use a form of QuickCollect or MoneyGram. DO NOT give this company any of your financial information. If you do, and they have bought other debts, they WILL take money out of your account.
Called my house and left an automated message from TRS - no details just asked to be called back at 800-210-6385. Called after hiting *67 and got a recording, no indication of who or what they do. Seems very fishy.
I received a call from 800-789-8001 today. They have called me a few times but never leave a message. i got a call from a collection agency stating that i owe money to a credit card company for an old account... I asked them how come btwn 2006 and now the CC Company hasn't contacted me. He said b/c it's gone to collections ... OKAY BUT WHAT ABOUT THE PAST TWO YEARS!!! I received a call from Angela of SST Systems & Services Technologies asking for my fiancé. I inquired as to the nature of their call and they said they were looking for a Ms. Shantel or Chantel Mills. I said we have never heard of such a person. Angela admitted that she used a reverse address website to obtain our street and phone information. She also admitted that other neighbors may be contacted. I expressed my concern about identity theft and she said she could not answer any further questions. The number she gave me was 800-789-8001. I am reporting them to the Federal Do Not Call list.
The only way to stop them from calling is to send them a Cease Communication letter VIA Certified mail. Be sure to request a return receipt and keep copies of everything. If they continue to call after you have written proof they recived it, they can face fines of up to $1,000.00 PER violation.
Go to this website, which contains some good examples of Cease Communication letters for you to use (depending on your particular situation). Just fill in the blanks:
Did YOU give them permission to call? NO Did YOU establish a business relationship with them? NO
Did you ever sign an agreement with the collection agency establishing business with them, giving them permission to call? NO Did you make arrangements with them to Pay the alleged debt? NO
Does the collection agency have proof the one they are calling actually lives at the residence? NO, it could be a Wrong Number.
Harrassment is illegal and its still Harrassment no matter whose doing it. So is Harrassing Communications. If you tell them to Not call again and they still call, its Harrassment, report to the Do Not Call List, Cops, and whoever else you can. I have for years. and found out most calls were Scams and not who they claimed to be. If there number goes through as accepted on the do not call registry, well you just reported them. DUH! how easy was that. I've reported them calling 15 times a day for over a month, I reported every single call, and guess what, The Calls Stopped.
Maybe YOU didn't ask for there business or agree to PAY them but you did make the debit to begin with so YES They have the RIGHT to call you. By the way people I thought it was bogus stuff when they called too cause I have a auto loan with Fairway Lending in Georgia to find out from Fairway that they no longer dealth with auto loans so this company was given my account so that is why they called SO SO SO many times was to let me know and set up my information to be sure it was still the same and the Welcome me to there company.
It does not matter if you made an agreement with them. When you sign up for a company you are signing for any services they use or 3rd parties. That is in the privacy policy. Try reading one and you will find lots of good things.
let me add, when the calls stopped for a month or so, I would get a new strange number calling, So I reported it too. It would stop. Then another number would call, reported it too, conclusion : its the Same people using different numbers. This is a good way to Trace Scammers and what current number they are using. Reporting every new number helps Track down these Scammers. Then I started getting blank "unavailable" calls which I never answer. Now I'm not getting any calls hope it stays that way.
They have absolutely no right to call me. My information is private and I have NO debt with them or anyone else. They have no right to call asking for information about my dad and then give none in return.
FYI: I am a grown man living on my own, I haven't lived with my dad for 6 years.
they kept calling and when I would answer no one was there. i called back and let them know they were not there and that they called 10 times before noon. after i set up payment through my bank they kept calling. I talked to their CEO named Jim Laws and he promised my number would be removed. They called again. every person i talked to pretty much said i don't know how to answer my phone or that i am just a liar. I hate this company
