- KrystalCalled telling me they were from microsoft and that they were going to guide me through fixing my computer. FIrst off, I personally have a Macbook Pro. Second off, my parents DID just have their computer sent off to be fixed under my name (I'm more of a techie than either of them) but when I said that to them all they said was "Oh. Ok" and hung up on me.

They sell computers and consumer electronics. Their Wiki page also shows that they have been sued by Apple, Dell, and most recently The State of Florida http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tiger_Direct.

- Robert| 1 replyI Answered (called ID read 'Toll Free Caller') and the caller, with heavy accent, said he was with Microsoft and was calling to fix my anti-virus software. Skeptical, I asked him which of my computers (though I only have one, heheh) needed this service -- he said the one running Windows 7; I told him that none of my computers runs Windows 7. He was speechless. I said "Scammer!" and hung up.
I then entered the number into my phone's call-block function, but they have called back twice more in the following 17 hrs.- Caller: (unknown)
- Ayo MaatI received a call from this number by a man representing himself as Microsoft Tech Support partner. He (Justin) also switched me to a sr. technician; both he and Justin had E. Indian accents. They dialogued with me as if my name was Gan. Microsoft has my correct name and info. They had me to go to a link on Microsoft website www.support.me to verify that they are legitimate Microsoft certified software engineers (MCSE). I had them to call back on my mobile to walk me through LogMeIn Rescue so I could find out why my Windows Installer was not working and why chkdsk was not working and what happened to my msconfig file I made sure they did not uninstall or interfere with my security software and other software I am a retired software specialist and senior programmer/analyst and occasionally do IT training. I realized that the site was not a normal MS site and they were eager to get me to buy a MS software agreement or pay for one-time support. They gave me this number if I changed my mind and told me to ask for Justin at 201-984-3496. MRN software recognized the 800 number as spam.

- Dawn| 2 repliesI have been receiving calls from 800-800-8100 for weeks and avoided them. Finally today I answered. It was a man with an Indian accent. I had trouble understanding him, but my experience was the same as all of the above posts. When he told me to type in www.support.me, I told him no and got off of the phone. I called my internet provider to see if my computer information has been compromised. They advised me to call my computer support, the local law enforcement, and the state Attorney Generals office. The police are on their way here now, and hopefully, if enough people report this scam, these people can be caught. Please, please, if it happens to you, contact your state Attorney Generals office.

I read an article about them last week and I just got a call from them on my cell phone. Told them I know what the scam is and they hung up. Do not let them anywhere around your computer. Hang up on them. They aren't Microsoft.
