caller ID = TOLL FREE CALL- Caller: unknown
- MIkeyWe get two to three calls a day from this number. No caller ID other than "toll free call."
It probably is a higher education service as my son will be a senior next year and is getting several calls a day from colleges or companies who'll "help him" get into the college of his choice.
Unless there is a caller ID name, we don't ever answer the phone. Since they don't leave messages, they won't ever have a chance with him. - maxxmaSame as Mikey above. No message + no legitimate caller ID = no communication at all.
- Caller: "toll free"
- Carmielet it go to voice mail, and they didnt leave a message
- TaylorIf they don't leave a message, it must not be very important
- RobertWhen your kid signed up for the SAT they checked the box that they you are ok with receiving info from these third party services offering scholarships and services. BIG MISTAKE. They will hound you for 6 months after your kid graduates from high school. They called here and I told them to stop calling because my daughter was going to be going to college on an athletic scholarship and we knew where she was going. Next thing you know the school they were calling from is sending us there information and calling the house. Higher Ed gets paid for every lead they provide these universities.
- Caller: Higher Education
- Mark LeeThis is "Ruffalo CODY" which has national offices (in Iowa) and which contracts to make the calls for several colleges.
(they also use 888-356-2296)
If you don't have school-age children who might have put their home number down during testing, it could have been a prank in itself where someone else put your number down or it was given to them by mistake. They can bypass the DNC because every number they call is submitted to them, usually on a form. They are (aggressively) trying to finance students to go to one of their client colleges.
This number is a college recruiting agency and they don't normally call from the actual city of the school; They are a type of private college financing, fund-raising and recruiting business.
These people called me twice this evening because my teenage son said "Yes, I'd be interested in going to college in [x] Hawaii [X] Oregon [X] Washington" during some college prep testing at his high school. However, I am not interested in sending my son to any of those places so he can pay for it himself or go here, locally.
Our kids are overriding our DNC listing by "inviting" them to call. (sort of like inviting vampires into your home)- Caller: Ruffalo CODY

- JoyCalled twice this week at 9pm,, ridiculous. first time i told them everyone in the house was asleep so it was an INAPPROPRIATE time to be calling. clearly they didn't get the hint because they did it again 3 days later. FRUSTRATING
- Caller: College

- Jackie MRuffalo Noel Levitz (supposed fundraising provider)... they are scum parasites who are looking to drain the wallets of parents as their children are preparing for their SATs and moving onto college. Thank you so much for selling out my kid you greedy [***].
- Call type: Telemarketer
- FiguresSo I figured it was going to be a scam call regardless of the "Toll Free Call" caller id. And after researching this site, it is a scam. So, here is the lesson: If your kid is signing up to take the SAT/ACT don't allow your kid to put in a phone number because you're going to get calls like this on a weekly basis. Crazy why these calls come through because they are competing with the other scammers and well, let's face it, no one answers their phone anymore.
